If I seriously injured someone in a high speed car accident due to my own negligence, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t then get aggro at the injured, likely concussed victim when he complained about it, but that’s just me.

Hit for six: Latrell done for season as verdict lands

I was more disappointed by Mitchell’s reaction to his own tackle than the tackle itself – accidents happen. He looked like he wanted to participate in argy bargy with a clearly badly injured – and probably concussed – Manu. Would he have participated in a fist fight with a guy with a broken cheekbone and concussion? He then tried to slam the ball into a defenders head after a “cooling off” period to think about his actions, for which he should have been penalised. That he missed Fletcher Baker’s head was no reason not to penalise him, and continues refs ignoring bad acts so long as nobody is hurt, a reason small halves regularly get off for the same bad acts.
One more thing, if Bill Harragan had been ref and Gagai verbally abused him with foul language over a sin bin, Harragon would have immediately converted the sin bin to a send off. Klein is weak as the proverbial.

Another crazy chapter in the Book of Feuds as Mitchell's moment of madness stuns Manu

Were mandatory sense of humour bypass procedures for supporters part of the AFL’s gloried history?

'Horrible' state of grassroots league means only one club makes sense for NRL expansion

Now imagine how Tedesco would perform if Trent Robinson blamed him for every loss, criticized his skill levels publicly, replaced him with plodding five-eighths & burly, slow centres every other week, and threw him randomly into pressure games to win them single-handledly. That’s what Dufty has to deal with from Hook.

NRL Round 24 teams: To'o back for Panthers, new halfback for Raiders

From my perspective, it’s not the perpetrator’s team, it’s his size. Small backs get let off for the same tackles big forwards get nailed on, often because the same tackle has little to no effect on the tackled player.

The blatant Cleary shoulder charge and what it confirms about the NRL

Peter Wilkins and Graham Hughes, right on. Hughes was a great caller straight outta retirement as a player – loves the game, knows it inside out, expressive voice in a similar vein to Rabs, and rarely made a mistake. But please Curtis, take Hadley off of this list, it’s insulting to the others & dilutes their contributions.
Also, the former Balmain winger Joel Caine, the “gamble responsibly” guy – I’m sure he called a couple of games for 9 and was very good at it, but then got canned for some reason. Nine should give him a run.

Sterlo says 'freeze it there'. So where does he rank in rugby league's top 20 commentators list?

I’m sure he was cheap – after being told he wasn’t wanted at his last club. I’ll bet the Dragons saved heaps of money on Moose McGuire and Beale too. You get what you pay for in life.

'He's a waste of money': Mbye says he's leaving Tigers to help save them; Connor Watson finds new home

Let’s see, Dufty is: faster, younger, more versatile, and his supposed weakness – defense – isn’t exactly MBye’s strong suit. Just bizarre – again the Dragons pick up someone at the tail end of their talents and shaft someone at the peak of their talent. Dufty could even have played 5/8th ten times better than Norman if you wanted to hide him in the defensive line, but again MBye is an average defender too. Well, is there any point trying to decipher the braindead Dragon’s recruitment at this point.

'He's a waste of money': Mbye says he's leaving Tigers to help save them; Connor Watson finds new home

Ray Hadley every time a conversion kick is being lined up:
“insert-kickers-name-here, a study in concentration.”
That this loud-mouth twerp spent time thinking this line up, thought it made him sound intelligent, then repeated it over & over & over – words can’t explain.

'Eats at the NRL product': Sterlo was right to call full-time at Nine

It’s not that Chivas doesn’t taste good – it still has the same flavor profile. It’s that you now get less of what you paid for thanks to some MBA graduate. More grains, less malt. Another crapified product and Mr MBA gets bonus share dividends. Still wouldn’t knock back a glass or three.

Can the Dragons make the NRL finals?

Chivas is another victim of neo-liberal crapification – now padded with cheap grain whiskey that goes right up your nostrils. So too JW Red Label. Dimple 12 is still the same quality and value for money.

Can the Dragons make the NRL finals?

Oh no, not another has been that never was! Who the hell is in charge of recruiting at the Dragons and why are they still in gainful employment?

Can the Dragons make the NRL finals?

You missed Jaiyden Hunt who Hook used because he had to for the last 2 and gave him a measly 10 minutes on the field each game – while Moose McGuire plodded back and forth like an old draft horse barely denting the ad line.

Can the Dragons make the NRL finals?

Have been impressed with the two Jayden’s in recent weeks: Sullivan & Hunt.

Sullivan has explosive speed off the mark and commits then evades defenders leaving them stranded. He’s tried too much but is a good prospect. The Dragons badly lack speed and Dufty being shown the door in that context is bizarre.

And Hunt’s been really shortchanged by Hook: he added size and starch for the 10 minute stints Hook gave him in the last few games – seriously, why pick a prop on the bench and do that? Hook – like Mary – plays favorites with has-been duds like Moose McGuire & Beale, presumably because loyalty?

On a positive note, Blake Lawrie is establishing himself as a leader in the pack. He’s tough, has spirit, and bleeds red & white. Love the guy.

'Making up the numbers': Personnel changes Dragons need to make for 2022 campaign

Had high hopes for Hook but this is Mary all over again. Picking players out of position – Bird roving from 2nd row to fullback – Jackson Ford, already a smallish 2nd rower, playing prop rotation the last few games – selecting an actual prop on the bench in Jaiyden Hunt then giving him 10 minutes per game the last few games what the hell? Then there’s recruiting over the hill rejects from other clubs instead of blooding junior talent who then bail for greener pastures. Every time I see Saab kill it for Manly I want to cry, okay Hook we have Disaster Mary to blame for that one, Luciano Leilua too, killing it for the Tigers. Woe to we Dragons supporters.

'Our season's not over': Dragons vow to fight despite Raiders loss

At what point did Australia turn into a nation of Karens, including the males? Is there a date we can mark in history? I’m sure it’s pre-COVID – COVID just made it plain as day.

Paul Vaughan is a top bloke and a good if inconsistent prop who ignores bluenose wowsers, also a good thing, in fact it used to be an Australian character trait before bluenose wowsers somehow became the majority. How and when did that happen?

Paul Vaughan to the Bulldogs? Cool, see you in Round 9 of 2022

There was a 36-point difference between the 2 teams in the new frankenstein’s monster sport of VlandysBall, which sucks by the way & is like watching OzTag.
If the two teams had been playing the sport formerly known as rugby league it would have been about 20 points.

Walker and Mitchell torture Dragons' hopeless defence in 50-14 win

So last night’s game was the exception that proves the rule?

The key reasons why league fans are switching the telly off in 2021

There’s a saying: there are no conspiracies but there are no coincidences either. Of course six-again is responsible for the lopsided scores. I mean seriously, I can’t believe we’re still arguing it at this point. And of course the answer to these unintended – really bad – consequences is to get rid of six-again. Will that happen? Nope. Corporate suits like Vlandy’s don’t admit they’re wrong. Ever.

Is it just me or will Lewis and Burton make a great half pairing.

Half-time tackles, offensive wristbands and speedy fullbacks: NRL Round 18 talking points

So at best they held their own. Did they just hold their own in games 1 & 2? I don’t have the stats but I know what I saw. Cleary & Lui were operating behind a dominant pack. Moses & Weighton were not. That’s Freddie’s fault, not theirs. The blues were too small.

Without Cleary and Luai, are the NSW Blues really that good at all?

Here’s hoping Jaiyden Hunt gets an opportunity in the next few weeks. He was full of beans in his debut and made a couple of mistakes but looks promising. I don’t see how bringing a Warrior on loan for a few games into the starting lineup makes more sense than blooding up & coming talent. But that’s the Dragons for you. If their team selections made sense, they wouldn’t be the Dragons.

Depleted Dragons call on more from star players

I love scrums. Some of the best rugby league moments of all time directly sprang from packs butting heads and sniffing the bums of their teammates.

Here’s three:

– 1995 state of origin fight in the 1st scrum
– cattledog!
– Les ‘Bundy’ Davidson rising out of the scrum to king hit Peter Kelly.

Even if they’re no long allowed to fight, we must keep packs butting heads and sniffing the bums of their teammates. It’s an integral part of the game’s heritage.

There are many other reasons to keep scrums too, but in the corporate era of league where thought bubbles in “brainstorming” meetings are rule changes before close of business, I don’t have my hopes up.

Ten things about rugby league changed forever by the pandemic

Awesome forward pack? They got steamrolled, just like the Blues do every time the coach decides to pick the mythical “origin player” instead of players in their positions. There weren’t enough props. It’s why Cook had hardly any dummy half breaks too. Don’t blame Moses.

Without Cleary and Luai, are the NSW Blues really that good at all?

For mine the difference between winning & losing was NSW going back to that old losing formula of picking backrowers for front row positions – against 4 hulking QLD props. NSW played most of the game with 1 prop on the field.
