Paul – I was with you until your line “in Group C, Argentina going through largely because someone had to”. While technically correct, I think Argentina would have been a good chance of going through to the final 8 in any Group, even the (cue dire music) Group of Death.

The great rugby World Cup group hug

No. No it does not.

A World Cup and a Grand Slam?

So…..putting the popcorn aside Brett, with those terrible injuries to key Irish players there’s a fair chance of an all SH semi finals now?! You would think the WBs will soundly beat Scotland. The Boks have a hard but winnable match up with Wales, especially as they seem to be hitting their stride now after the stutter (is that the right word?) against Japan. I’m backing Argentina against the injury stricken Irish now, and well, the ABs have a good chance to erase the demons of 2007 now if they want it hard enough. Looking good for the next few weeks of rugby 🙂

Rugby World Cup: Courageous Ireland suffer horror injury toll

I think you could argue that the Wallabies were a bit lucky with their injuries too – getting a chance to bring a third hooker into the squad was fortunate, and I still don’t think Skelton is the real deal yet. Unlucky for him and Palu, but maybe a better balance in the forwards now.

For the record Digger – I played 6 back in the day and I have a beard too. Maybe I was an unsung hero at the time and just didn’t know it 😉

2015 Rugby World Cup Big Questions: Luck and disappointment

A well argued case, sir. Seems to have worked too! The defence rests well satisfied.

The defence of the innocent: An unofficial transcript of the Michael Hooper hearing.

How about “teams”? Lets not differentiate between any team that qualifies for the RWC. They’re all there on merit. Some are stronger, some not so. The mix of that is changing as we are witnessing….

2015 Rugby World Cup Big Questions: Minnows closing the gap

Not sure I agree with the Americas cup comparison. In 1983 Aus II snapped a very long winning streak but the boat and crew weren’t really underdogs. They were very much rated, and had won a very hard challenger series. In 2014 (it still hurts) Oracle did come from behind to win the series, but again hardly underdogs given the $, resources and international sailing talent they had available.

Very good question Chinmay and I for one would like to see the panel have a crack at it

And I’m damn sure I saw Genia do that this morning! The commentators were calling for him to do it as well. Forts two Scrums were awesome, stable contests but Genia put the ball in “too straight” and Moore couldn’t get his leg up to hook it. Great scrums so hats off to both packs for the contest. 3rd scrum feed for Genia saw him skew it in under front rows feet. Problem solved…..

Five talking points from the Wallabies' win over Fiji

Yup 😉

Five talking points from the Wallabies' win over Fiji

I would add to that list the decision to go for goal with the 69 minute penalty. Why not kick for the corner and back your excellent driving maul for a bonus point try? I don’t believe this chant that ” bonus points don’t worry us”. Why take the chance?
