I think you are being a little disingenuous with your last sentence there Michael. Despite having a (widely acknowledged) harder draw than North, the Swans have a better record both for and against. Swans have less injury concerns, only missing Richards (and maybe Papley) from your best 22. Swans are playing at home. Even the bookies have the Swans as favourites, paying around $1.40. There is nothing that makes this “a game in theory we should lose”.

Sydney, where the big men fly like swans

Actually, O’Keefe was available at the end of 2009. Carlton had pick 11 that year, but agreed early in trade period to trade that pick for Brock McLean. We ended up getting pick 12 as part of the Fev deal (used for Lucas), but decided against on-trading that pick. Also, O’keefe by then was looking at the Hawks.

Carlton's premiership window closed - it's rebuild time

Actually, if you look at the ladder, we are behind North Melbourne, Gold Coast is only one win behind us (and we lost to them last year), and we have already lost to St Kilda this year (and have struggled to beat them at all over the last decade). So the month ahead is looking treacherous.

And the reason I don’t like Kane Lucas is that he squibs the hard contest. You’re right, he is playing his best football so far, and he does possess exquisite skills, but he loses just about every contested ball situation because he won’t go hard for the footy.

Carlton's 2013 season no so blue after all

Third hand – from another website (Our Footy Forum), where the source said it came from Facebook. Not the Carlton facebook page, I checked it and there was nothing. So at this stage just treat it as a rumour.

2013 AFL season: Round One Preview Part II

I completely agree Macca. We have to trust that Mick knows what he is doing with AJ.
Apparently Simpson is a doubtful starter for us tonight, Bell might get a late call-up.
