Darcy Swain leaving Brums end of 24, just signed 2 year contract with Western Force!

Brumbies breathe sigh of relief after holding on against physical Drua pack as super sub saves the day

Also thought he did well keeping the game moving along, constantly on the teams to hurry up when preparing for set pieces.

'We needed that': Gordon, Kellaway star in Rebels' epic comeback win as Force capitulate

There’s a Chinese bloke who recently ran a marathon whilst chain smoking! Still managed around 3:30 which is pretty impressive!

There’s no denying that some teams view the scrum as a means to obtain a penalty.
Some penalties are warranted however if the ball is at the number 8s feet then can we not just call “use it” and get on with the game. I get frustrated watching a strong scrum hook quick ball and then hold it at the 8s feet whilst attempting to draw a penalty.
The only time this should be allowed to occur is with a 5m scrum looking for a pushover try.

The scrum saga: It does not feel right that teams are exploiting the penalty 'treasure hunt'

Was impressed with the referee, she was exceptional in her discussions with players.

'We put it to them': Wallaroos see bright side despite England rout as Codey sent off

Back in my day….a dominant scrum just provided clean quick ball for the backs or perhaps a pushover try from 5m out. Scrumming for penalties is doing my head in. Why can’t the ref just say well done now use the bloody ball!

The Wrap: Wallabies and All Blacks emerge from ‘dead rubber’ with plenty to take to the World Cup

As a former second rower I cannot agree more. We used to scrum to win clean ball for the backs to work their magic.
Winning a tighthead scrum or shunting the opposition back a few metres was the pinnacle.
Just get the ball out quickly or let the 8 control it with his/her feet until it’s time to use it.
The only time a penalty should be considered is for collapsing a 5m scrum to prevent a try being scored.

ANALYSIS: The two biggest issues killing the Reds are linked - can Thorn fix them before he packs up his desk?

Amazing defence from Wales. Wallaroos improving each game. Grace Hamilton is a machine. Lori Cramer was great in her post match interview, hopefully RA can get her more media exposure.

'Sébastien Chabal of the Wallaroos': Hamilton overcomes the odds to lead Aussies to World Cup quarter-finals

If the women keep playing games like those last weekend then I for one will watch. It was refreshing to see so many tries scored by wingers!

Rugby News: 'It'd be awesome' - Change Slipper wants for Wallaroos, twist in Rona case, giant club in peril

Hear hear! I’m getting so sick of seeing a refs arm go out for advantage almost every scrum. Why penalise a team for having a weaker scrum? Do we penalise for having a weak lineout? Just get the ball out and get on with the game!

Open letter to World Rugby: Pull TMO into line and give us back imperfections that made the game beautiful

Enjoy your analysis Geoff and admire your ability to somehow remain restrained in dealing with some of the overly dramatic comments you cop. I enjoyed watching Wests take out the Hospital Cup yesterday and will head into the weekends test with my usual high hope of a drought breaking Eden Park win for the Wallabies but if that is not too be then let’s hope it’s at least a close game not decided by controversy in the dying minutes!

The Wrap: How is it that when the Wallabies lose, support for Dave Rennie goes up?

I get your point!

Bravo, Mathieu: Why Bledisloe ref made the right call for the sake of the game. Others must follow his lead

I stand corrected…

Bravo, Mathieu: Why Bledisloe ref made the right call for the sake of the game. Others must follow his lead

I, like many were disappointed that the ref decided that was the appropriate time to make a point.
Plenty of missed opportunities earlier in the game for him to lay down the law, particularly Richies 81sec conversion or any number of “use it” calls which by the law state 5sec to clear or scrum to opposition.
However what’s done is done and if this does lead to a consistent approach across the board then perhaps it was worth it.
Perhaps a shot clock on the big screen would take the arguement out of the whole thing?

Absolute gold Harry.
You managed to bring a smile to a face that has been wrinkled in utter bemusement since Thurs night!
Having been on the receiving end of a french shrug I heartedly concur. The French language is one of the most beautiful in the world but beware the shrug!

Lost in translation: Infuriating French trait Bernard Foley needed to know and will never forget

Countdown clock on the big screen. Takes away any subjectivity. Kickers can see clearly how much time they have to act.

When rugby context and common sense are trumped

Seems the most sensible solution. Countdown clock displayed on the big screen so all players can see it.

Stop the clock: Calling time on rugby union

Massive call at a pivotal point in the game leaving a deflated feeling after such a pulsating contest.
Had the ref just let Foley kick the ball out and allowed the game to play out one way or another then we would only be talking about the spectacle.
But what’s done is done and from here on let’s hope that a precedent has been set and that this speeds up all aspects of play.

When rugby context and common sense are trumped

Yep, winter has just begun and for many of our developing SR players it’s back to club rugby. Madness….

The Wrap: Super Rugby seedings hold steady as final four confirmed

“More rubber than a teenagers wallet on prom night”. Gold!

The Wrap: The light at the end of Australian rugby’s tunnel isn’t an oncoming train after all

Great story, awesome results so far for the Tahs after last years results.
The continual often repetitive harping negativity of some is tiresome.
I’m just happy to be reading some good news stories about rugby.

'Dream big': Eight is not enough as Coleman targets top four, gives Tolu Latu update

Cracking weekend, let’s hope it continues!

The weekend that might just have made Super Rugby Pacific

Super round in Suva, I was thinking the same thing. Great way to support tourism in Fiji and one hell of a weekend away!

The Wrap: Super Rugby once again finds joy and inspiration in Suva

I concur, the Fairlie Bakehouse is a cracker.

The Wrap: Everything that worked and didn’t work in Super Round

Fantastic series and grand final victory by the Fijiana Drua. Highly entertaining rugby played by the team.
Great article Tia.

Why the Super W title means so much more than silverware for the Drua
