I love that the Demons are up there at the moment and doing it in style.
But there is no way I would support the Bulldogs while there is a liberatore in that team.

The AFL's changing of guard is here

2 picks in the each of the first 3 rounds of the upcoming draft
Seems to me that they have everything in place for ongoing success
After R6 the Tigers are still well in the mix.
Love to see you here in September to reflect

The AFL's changing of guard is here

You will win the wooden spoon and perhaps even consider changing your name but please don’t change it to Tasmanian ……. We want our own team. Alice Springs Kangaroos has a nice ring.

Why North Melbourne will not win the 2021 wooden spoon

Sad

Missing from the Richmond dynasty? A legitimate rival

The Tigers don’t need a “legitimate challenger”, they are going quite well against all comers. I suspect that had they not had that down night against the Magpies they would now be eyeing off a 5th straight title. To consider the Eagles as even remotely close as a legitimate “rival” as you call them is ridiculous. They are good, no doubt, but Geelong have proven themselves better, as have GWS and Port proven themselves as good. One top four finish in 5 years does not constitute a great team let alone a rival.

Missing from the Richmond dynasty? A legitimate rival

So going by your logic 2.5M/0.5M = 5 x 12 which means 60 supporters in Tasmania. Yeah, I think they can find that many. Considering that paid subscription is the same every where and Tasmanians WOULD be tuning in, it is a solid assumption that a Tassmanian team would do far better financially than GWS. Frankly, I found it to be an embassment for GWS when they played the Tigers in the 17 preliminary final. They had nothing in the way of support. Guaranteed, a Tasmanian team would have had immense support.

Stop dreaming - Tasmania won't get its own AFL team

You obviously didn’t live in Perth in March 1987. I attended the first West Coast game, still have the ticket. Richmond was leading at the last break to be overwhelmed by a 9 goal last quarter by the Eagles. The muted silence in the first 3 quarters was for me and a bloke about 4 rows below me just wonderful. The uproar generated in the last quarter was mind blowing. I knew a juggernaut had been unleashed. Tasmania would be the same, trust me.

Stop dreaming - Tasmania won't get its own AFL team

It is time to stop this rubbish about the equity of a Tasmanian team in the AFL.
Tasmania has the highest percentage of participants in the AFL per population and have for many years. I know this to be true because I did a study on that very stat in the 90s and forwarded on to the Tigers for their draft considerations.
A stand alone team in the AFL would generate huge interest and I have no doubt that it would be successful. It matters not whether that team plays in Launceston or Hobart.
Apathy is a killer.
Tasmania needs a team, deserves a team

Stop dreaming - Tasmania won't get its own AFL team

It all evens out. Interstate teams have an advantage at home. Victorian teams get an advantage when interstate teams visit. You seriously think a Richmond home game against Collingwood or any other Vic team is an advantage? Freo gets 10 but has to travel 11. Richmond gets 4 homes advantage games but has to travel 6.

The premiership dark horse going under the radar

Definately the team on the rise. I see some special stuff happening there.

The premiership dark horse going under the radar

Correct. I would think that the Lions and the Power are the teams to beat but you have the 5.

The premiership dark horse going under the radar

There is no doubting your first comment and I have said that in the article but what I am proposing is a set fixture that promotes more intense rivalries. It has nothing to do with the shape of the ball. The AFL is a business, treat it like one.

What the AFL can learn from American fixturing

That is why North is now holding up the pile and the Suns and Giants are holding the cheques. That is why the Eagles and Crows fielded state quads for the first 10 years of their existence and the Bears became Lions and a couple of years later became a dynasty. Stop it!

What the AFL can learn from American fixturing

The VFL needed to expand to ensure the future of Australian Rules football not only the VFL. You can thank the vision of Ron Barassi and Kevin Sheedy for that.

What the AFL can learn from American fixturing

I might be a rookie here but not elsewhere

How do coaching trees work in the AFL?

A series? What series?

How do coaching trees work in the AFL?

I would never entertain a game based on colour, culture or creed. Period. I could go into the politics with this issue and show you how misconstrude your thought process is but this is not the platform.

Why can't the AFL have State of Origin?

No disrespect to your article but I am thinking there many people that believe that the Tigers of today would easily hold the “super teams” of the past. It is called evolution. I would be very happy to put the Tigers of today up against any team in the past.

The scary stat behind the demise of high scoring in the AFL

Not the point. I knew Tommy. I never knew Kennedy.

How do coaching trees work in the AFL?

Fully agree, I was only showing how these things can be dealt with.

What the AFL can learn from American fixturing

I have been calling the Richmond Tigers world champions after each of their AFL titles. Why not?

What the AFL can learn from American fixturing

Yes, I know that and I also know that today, Americans believe that they are world champions and exceptional in everything they do. Don’t believe me, watch the presentation of the Lombardi trophy after the Super Bowl tonight.

What the AFL can learn from American fixturing

Tom Hafey: coached future coaches Tony Jewell, Francis Bourke, John Northey, Barry Richardson, Royce Hart, Mike Patterson, Kevin Barlett, Kevin Sheedy, Michael Malthouse, Ian Stewart, Neil Balme, Paul Sproule, Tony Shaw, Mark Williams, there were probably others. Point being that all leagues are copy cat leagues as you know. The need to get someone that has been successful. Of the above, 4 of those players as coaches won Grand Finals. They had to, law of averages. It means nothing, every team strives to be better. Trees are the product of wanting a name in the organisation. Tonight will show whether it was Brady or Bellichek. No, actually Brady has already shown who was the relevant person in the Patriots era.

How do coaching trees work in the AFL?

Why? Isn’t the elimination of racism a major concern for the AFL? An indigenous team only places more emphasis on colour.

Why can't the AFL have State of Origin?

But it means nothing. That is my point, it is irrelevant.
