Long overdue

'Challenging and majestic ride': Cochrane to stand down as Suns chief after long reign

I hate watching us play India in India

We always look totally inept, we get served up these dustbowl pitches and we turn into a craven bunch of hopeless buffoons with bat and ball

'Bowled an absolute buffet': Hayden slams 'rubbish' Cummins as Rohit, Jadeja take Aussies to the cleaners

I assure you no-one in Brisbane gives the slightest stuff about what happened down at Hawthorn with our new messiah, and after the trainwreck that was the Lions coaches box beforehand he has the job as long as he wants it. The only way he’s leaving is if the AFL forcibly remove him, the Lions won’t be sacking him.

'Bad luck' continues for Carlton defender, set to miss entire AFL season after ACL training injury

Can’t be any worse than his predecessor. No authority over the playing group and oversaw institutional rot. Good luck to him.

I’ve always wondered why Toyota would want an ad that features their car being broken down and Gilly having to push it.

Fox's commentary cost-cutting has taken their coverage to rock bottom. It's time they were called out

I remember reading an anecdote from Alan McGilvray about the 1938 ashes from a book that was basically an anthology of embarassing stories from various celebrities in Australia – they were calling it in Australia, over the wireless based on telegrams coming in from overseas with what was happening. They had sound effects in the studio and would “call” the action based on what was in the telegrams. It wasn’t every ball, just the moments that mattered.

During McCabe’s stupendous innings of 232 when he was batting with Ernie McCormick, a telegram came in saying essentially that “Mcc was out bowled” – not of much use of determining who it was. His co-commentator (can’t remember the name) said something along the lines of McCabe is going for it, it must be him – so they went with it, called it as McCabe being out, McGilvray waxed on about what a glorious innigs, out for 190 odd, what a reception etc as he went back to the pavilion – and then a few minutes later, a telegram was received saying McCormick was out bowled for 2.

Agree with you Don – Tim David doesn’t have the mental sharpness for international cricket.

BBL form highlights how badly selectors need to refresh ageing Australian T20 team with new blood

Being fat isn’t a good thing Barb.

What now for Rahkeem Cornwall?

Nah, you were the one saying that his ability was enough for him to be picked, I was saying clearly it’s not, and that’s before you get to the fact he’s the size of a shipping container. Tubby Cornwall with his bleating about not being able to change his body shape is a liar.

What now for Rahkeem Cornwall?

He’s been left out, so clearly he isn’t

What now for Rahkeem Cornwall?

Lose some weight?

He’s massively overweight and a joke as a pro sportsman with that physique. No way he has any business playing international cricket at that size.

What now for Rahkeem Cornwall?

Hopefully we see the last of Cotchin and his Duke Nukem haircut soon – one of the dirtiest players in the AFL hiding under the halo of a saint

I like Port Adelaide when they’re up and about, can be quite an exciting team to watch. Shame it hasn’t happened for quite a while. Maybe this will be the year.

2023 Best 23s: Why this forgotten Port speed demon could save Ken Hinkley's job

Agreed he hasn’t lost the players – but has Ken lost Kochie?

Nah, can’t have that. Non striker needs to be on the other side of the bowler and some non-strikers like to stand close to the stumps.

How to fix cricket’s bubbling Mankad issue (by doing absolutely nothing)

The problem is every time there’s a mankad attempt the media currently embarks on an ocean of crying and excreting the bed – really wish they’d just shut up with the Daily Mail inspired headlines about the latest mankad attempt, they don’t report on other run outs. Cricket fans are getting sick of it.

Fundamentally what it is, is mental laziness on batsmen’s part. They’ve spent years just watching the striker, not paying any attention to the bowler, and now they’ve got to change their routine. Anyone who played indoor cricket always watched the bowler til they saw the ball in the air heading down the pitch. High time outdoor cricketers start doing the same.

Which Aussie sportswomen should be immortalised with statues?

I think we saw enough of Handscomb to know he wasn’t the long term answer to Australia’s batting vacancies.

FLEM'S VERDICT: Agar's turn to prove he can be Test spinner but Renshaw selection over Handscomb a weird one
