North vs south would no doubt.

It’s simpler and natural.

How will you cut up Australia into two, let alone field 5 competitive natural state teams?

The Wrap: Rebels young gun rockets out of Wallabies contention, and why Samipeni Finau's 'brutal' hit on Edmed was fair game

Don’t happen to know it Geoff.. just stating the obvious.

No doubt all around the world sports are relying on philanthropy when they can’t raise funds with advertising.

So yes it’s more or less a tax write off but they aren’t doing it for that reason, nobody does it purely as tax write off.
They are doing it for the reasons you mentioned.

It’s a tax write off for the consortium.

Nobody is dumb enough to get in bed with the rebels and expect to make money let alone break even.

Until Australian rugby teams put in performances week in week out to justify people watching them and they create a comp that people are interested in that broadcasters pay for and the funds are evenly distributed then we are just going to have more of the same.
Rugby really should copy as much of AFLs modus operandi from grassroots to professionals.

Would loved to have read a bit more on the ladies Geoff.

I’m not looking forward to reading how RA manage to fark things up even more this week.
It seems inevitable so I may as well sit back and watch the shitteshow.

Absolutely zero interest in state of origin.

The teams are already billed as state teams.

Besides the NRL only has two and it’s the pinnacle of their game not test matches.

Last thing we need is more confused disjointed games when we already have enough problems

Haven’t seen Kellaway stats this year. But like most id rate him above wright whom is benefiting in playing in a good team.

I find it difficult to look past wrights woeful test record but would love to see him thrive.

Brumbies knock over Hurricanes in statement win as Wright shines again behind forward pack

That’s what was said last few years and he lost tests and certainly didn’t win any.

Good to sum him improve nevertheless

I don’t know mate but in my books if you can’t defend you don’t make the team.

Brumbies knock over Hurricanes in statement win as Wright shines again behind forward pack

Wright has been a liability at test level, what’s got you convinced it’ll be any different now?

Same thing year in year out.

Rebels show glimpses of false hope by beating a few teams that are their own worst enemy then when they either get smashed by a proper team or choke against a hapless team.

'We got our pants pulled down': Rebels smashed in reality check as Crusaders keep finals hopes alive

I suspect it’s whether they turn up with intent to win or sadly all too often in the case of Australian teams turn up at all.

Viewing habits have changed so much that the younger kids like mine do not watch FTA or subscription stuff much.
A lot of it is YouTube or such.

Is rugby keeping with the times?

Five surprises, five disappointments and five things to figure out as Super Rugby 2024 reaches the end game

Harry as its been pointed out we now have generations whom have never really been able to watch rugby of FTA at least not super rugby and now Shute shield.
Throw absolutely dismal to non existent marketing and disconnect with grassroots along with pathetic performances by many Super teams and the wallabies for far too long.
The result is a depleted fanbase and RA is still doing their utmost best to turn away the few dyed in the eye rusted on fans.
Yes I remember the 90’s SFS being near capacity for the Tahs.
WTF happened?
In the meantime AFL did the complete opposite and has gone from being played in a few paddocks by Victorian Expats to all but dominating the landscape.

Five surprises, five disappointments and five things to figure out as Super Rugby 2024 reaches the end game

That’s gold. Absolutely priceless.

'Easy to throw stones': RA chairman hits back at mudslingers' 'hypocrisy' after calls for AGM board cleanout

Why Amoteroso?
He has shown nothing to justify his selection.
Has he befallen the tahs curse? Whereby a perfectly talented player with genuine physical size is expertly guided to play way below their capabilities?

If Australia is looking for big men, let's not neglect the old and the fat

Entire Brumbies team looked like they were mentally a million miles away.
The halfback knocking on at the back of the scrum whilst looking out to sea was the highlight
Forward back didn’t turn up.

Brumbies 'systematically taken apart by the Blues' in 'non-contest' as Larkham's men cop huge reality check

Harry I don’t disagree with the logice but at the end of the day even if every team did what the Boks do then still only one team will win.

Scrap the Giteau Law: Rugby Australia should look to Rassie's 'Boks RWC recipe if it wants to re-join the big boys' table

He has lot of potential. Just a matter of filling it but I do have concerns about his field kicking which can hopefully be developed.

The Wrap: Crusaders' shot clock fiasco and shhh, don’t put the moz on Darby

Hi Geoff,

Am I alone in wondering if CG could be better utilised as a hybrid running/passing 12 outside the likes of Harrison or a 10 that can distribute and kick?

He certainly is big enough and can defend well enough.

The Wrap: Crusaders' shot clock fiasco and shhh, don’t put the moz on Darby

Probably make a decent hooker and there isn’t the same press on the toe

'Needs to be considered': Bell out of Super Rugby season as ex-Wallaby suggests left-field positional switch

I enjoyed the ladies games yesterday to the mens.. they just seem more jovial.

I have to say that 7’s that it crossed my mind how I can see 15’s going to some extent when the lower tackle heights change the rucks and mauls…

For the first time I didn’t look at it negatively.. it would be a fast flowing game where the ball is always contestable opposed to league

'I was bloody nervous': Hooper stars on Aussie sevens debut, women on track in HK despite red card

Wins help but people just want to see a genuine contest with a team that puts up a fight.

For far too long the tahs have been playing dumb rugby and rolling over.

What the Rebels players should be demanding to know, as Twiggy's ex-rival throws a familiar hail Mary

All depends on the vibe of the stadium, ticket cost and whether they put in performances that make people want to watch.
Leichhardt has a good vibe compared to the soulless SFS.
Parramatta stadium is good too

What the Rebels players should be demanding to know, as Twiggy's ex-rival throws a familiar hail Mary

I’m not convinced he doesn’t have the cattle.

I am convinced he isn’t getting the most out of them.

If he does have a game plan they aren’t following it or it’s crap.

What I sure of is that there is a lot of dumb rugby being played

'What the hell's going on': Ex-Wallabies question 'losing' culture, pathways at Waratahs

‘Professional’ is the keyword
It just beggars belief how amateur so many so called professionals are especially when they train full time.
