Whose team is it anyway? Doesn’t the ECB hold the team in trust for the people of England? Why does Strauss get to decide anything on matters other than form? Previous comments indicate Warnie could sometimes be a bit of an “odd duck”, but there was never any suggestion that his form did not warrant selection or the Australian Cricket Team would be better off without him. It seems like Strauss’ ego might be hindering his efficient and effective discharge of his duties. Oh wait, isn’t that what he accuses KP of?

Not necessarily true. I attended a NSW state high school and we played RU in Years 7 and 8 before playing RL in the next four years. I seem to recall the Waratah Shield was also available to state schools.

I am waiting to see feedback on one particular issue – interstate visitors. A group of us have been travelling to one, sometimes two, interstate Tests each summer for almost a decade. (Canberra doesn’t have that many). We had been planning to go to Adelaide this year until we considered the logistics of the day/night Test. For economic, and aesthetic, reasons we usually stay at Glenelg. Our concerns centred around selfish considerations like missing the fine dining in Adelaide and perhaps difficulty in getting back to our lodgings safely before midnight.
It will be interesting to see what issues, if any, the locals experienced.
Notwithstanding my concerns, it’s terrific to see a contest between bat and ball again. Who said drop-in pitches can’t be tailored to the experience?
