Yes, meant “Henry”. Thanks

Can Mick Byrne and Brad Thorn kick-start the Wallabies?

Did Shag ever play to any level, or Hansen?

Can Mick Byrne and Brad Thorn kick-start the Wallabies?

Fair enough Oliver. How a team, or the kicker, capitalises after the ‘captain’s call’ , is crucial to the perception as to wether it was the right call. If Hooper says go for goal and Hodge or Foley doesn’t bang it over, it is a poor call? There was one long range shot form unsuccessful Hodge on Sat night, which I wished had been a kick for the corner line-out, but.. it was still a reasonable call for the shot.

Also, you don’t know the Coach’s instruction.

Hooper seems to be liked by refs so far. Certainly he is not being treated with the distain that Moore ended up attracting. Give it time. The signs are good. It’s a learned art.

The Wallabies leadership gap

Stop gushing David. Jones … “eloquent”? How about ‘Alan Jones incites violence against women’ and Cheika doesn’t? Or, ‘Alan Jones shamelessly accepts cash-for-comment’ and Cheika doesn’t.

This is a non-event. Wallabies run dirt-trackers in Baa-Baa games.

Alan Jones' head-to-head with Michael Cheika worth the admission alone

Hey Fionn, my point that is he throws as many bad passes as any other 10. You think Foley’s passes aren’t great? Check the stats. They get more tries than Coopers.

I dare you to watch this Cooper blooper show-real the whole way through. I think you’ve forgotten how unreliable he is, why he’s called the 50:50 man, and just how many tries he gives away form poor passing.

Get back to me when you’ve seen it.There’s plenty more.

Hodge would drop back.

Roar Forum: What changes should the Wallabies make for Argentina?

You’re anti-Foley bias knows no bounds. Must be hard for you to watch him slot all those goals (hasn’t missed a kick since Dunedin), set up those tries, throw the pinpoint passes, take the line on and make the line breaks… must be hard for you to read the accolades form those writers and commentators that can actually analyse rugby. A 50 test player maturing into one of the most important players in the team. Must be hard being so parochial….

QC is the 50/50 man. Half the time he’s great, the other half he’s ….”mercurial..” (ie disaster). Foley is not perfect but he’s more reliable and the attack works better when he plays. QC wants tio do the amazing when just the obvious will get the points. Foley is the 10 unless injured.

Wallabies robbed of a win in Bloemfontein

nope. Didn’t realise.

Wallabies robbed of a win in Bloemfontein

You want robotics? Every player has a “mixed bag”. On balance it was an excellent performance, Fantastic attack options, great line running running, directly set up 2 tries, kicked all the goals (from all over), hasn’t missed a goal in how long (is it the last 15 attempts). leading pointscorer in RC at the end of the match, made some crucial tackles (your biassed “regular poor defence” and “schoolboy errors” asides are without foundation, and give you away). Inspirational and as responsible as any team member in the result which was an very good Wallabies performance. Bit more insight before you start throwing labels of imbalance. Credit where credits due if you can muster it.

you’re a joke.. keep the Cooper dream alive buddy, you can watch him in the NRC when he actually plays

Wallabies robbed of a win in Bloemfontein

The only ones robbed here are the Roar readers, robbed of perspective by a sensationalist and sub-standard opinion piece from Lord (can’t call it journalism).

What a crock.

We just witnessed one of the great games, and one of the great Wallaby performances. Both sides had the opportunity to close the game. The WB attack again looked excellent, as good as it looked when they took it to the ABs in Bled 2. The forwards were good in broken play. Hannigan cost us a try when he was pinged as Genia was going over for what looked like the match winner. Koirabete looks the goods. Hodge was immense and cannot be left out form here. Beale again solid, injecting everywhere, excellent open field kicking. The refereeing was generally excellent.

This is close to our best 15. (except for Hannigan)

And we’re getting better.

Finally…

What really irks me is that Lord, the great Hooper critic with no fewer than eight anti-Hooper articles in the last year, cannot bring himself to admit the WBs are improving and playing well in the RC under his leadership.

Foley my man of the match. Any Foley knockers after that performance are deluded.

That’s all sounding great, but radical overhaul of the governing ARU would be more convincing form my point of view. Same boffins at the top so far….

Wallabies team for Springboks Test: Three set for run-on debuts as Hanigan gets demoted

deekhed

Wallabies team for Springboks Test: Three set for run-on debuts as Hanigan gets demoted

At first I thought playing Moore off the bench was a mistake. Surely Marx, who plays the full 80, will eat him for breakfast. Then I thought… Moore for 20min would bring some starch at the back end.

Dempsey and Rodda have a chance here to add starch to the broken play and ruck work. Certainly I’m glad Hannigan is dropped as he is ineffective, physically. I also rate Koroibete as a better winger than Speight, who, despite his courage and pride, has never impressed me as a test level back 3 player (no kicking game, not fast).

I think this team is a good looking team from the available squad. Tui to get the nod over Hannigan on the bench hopefully. Hodge or Beale to 10 if Foley goes down.

WBs by 5.

Wallabies team for Springboks Test: Three set for run-on debuts as Hanigan gets demoted

I reckon BB would be sensational at 15. He could size the while field up on attack and would be a huge weapon. He has all the kicks and he’s solid under the high ball.

Will the real threat to the All Blacks come from the North in 2019?

Oz fans can only look on and wish we had such a local, vibrant, well-run, high-level and entertaining competition.

Instead we have SR.

None taken, but there is plenty of opportunity for playing overseas teams at international level. Australian fans have overwhelmingly said what they want is local games in local time zones at a fair price, so that the fans can watch live or watch on TV at a time when the whole family can watch.

Instead Oz SR teams have to travel Japan (wtf?), South Africa, South America…. it’s the most ridiculous scenario for a regional competition.

Nothing has changed really except a franchise has been destroyed. Local teams travel as much, and are scheduled as much to play overnight, and the fans are disregarded.

All the pain of this year, a whole state gutted….. and then… the Sunwolves. Die SANZAAR, quickly.
