Nine games, five of them could go either way.
A most challenging tipping round. My daring tip of the week is the Giants.
Yes, I know, that would mean that they will have won two in a row. And I know it is at the Gabba.
Just a feeling.

AFL NEWS: Fyfe return in state league, Docker banned for 'chicken wing', Dangerfield on ice, Ziebell hits 250th

I believe that Lions with a few forwards returning will be the side to beat.

The Fremantle bubble has burst, and they could be in freefall

I have a selective memory of AFL results in that period.

There can be only one.

Will Curnow stay injury free until McKay’s return?
He has a workload.

I would like it if the Demons really crushed an opponent.
Something like 25 goals to 2.
Then I would relax a little.

AFL takeaways: How your club fared in Round 10

Are you going to say the same thing about Melbourne when they lose two in a row?

Let’s see what they do this week.

By the way, I think Don will not send you a Christmas card this year.

The Fremantle bubble has burst, and they could be in freefall

Note that Carlton (and Melbourne) have not beaten anyone above them on the ladder.

Question: How do you beat the Melbourne defenders?

Answer: With a 4 by 2 when they are not looking.

The rise of the flood defence: An AFL malaise

Umpire training –
1. Teach the umpires how to roughly measure 15m.
2. Just because a player is tall and big, should not mean that other players are allowed to hold, push, trip, block etc. Conversely, just because someone is small doesn’t mean a player should get a free kick.
3. Never give a free kick to a player with bleached hair.
4. A handball is punching the ball with one hand whilst the other hand remains immobile (mostly). Call a throw, a throw.
5. The tackled player must immediately and legitimately dispose of the ball. Rolling and throwing the ball in a tackle is a throw.
6. When in doubt favour the player who is trying to get the ball.
7. When 2 players (one on one) are holding in a ruck/marking contest, pick one at random and give a free kick until they stop doing it.
8. Shepherding is allowed within 5 metres of the ball. (See the course notes for “how long is 5 metres?”)

The rise of the flood defence: An AFL malaise

Great work Yatz.
The stand rule does nothing. It just allows the free kick or marking recipient the ability to move an extra five metres to the side and forward.
And it makes the man on the mark look silly. The 20-metre full back kick-out marker just pushes the press back ten metres.

An excellent summary of these two problems.

Six Points: Giants would be mad to give Hird the top job, and time to throw the book at throwing elbows

I’m confident that the Blues’ self destructive tendencies will come to the fore.
Can they miss the eight from here?

Eagles aren’t so bad. They will have an easy win this week.

Giant win proves GWS are not a broken club and there's still a pulse in their season

The Demons kicking for goal was atrocious. They kicked 12 behinds, half of those were bad misses.
Ben Brown as a forward kicked zero goals.

AFL Saturday Study: Light at the end of the tunnel for North, and brilliant Bradley Hill finally arrives as a Saint

Does anyone remember when the AFL was going to clamp down on tackled players hanging on to the ball forever?

The “I’ll just hold the ball for 10 minutes until I can throw it 20m forward to a team mate” really really annoys me.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 10

It’s simple.
Swans by 5 points.
From a goal after the siren.
From a free kick.
And 50 metres.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 10

Competition for a place in this team are getting rather hot. I expect the Demons to win by many many goals.

Sydney. It is played inside in the warm. Tough call. This pick is subject to change without notice.
Cats. Port would be a brave pick and I am not brave today. Close game. I dunno.
Suns. Better record than the dogs. Form must be backed. Then again …
Demons.
Saints.
Tigers to fall over the line in a close one. Lynch to take out 2m Peter early in the game.
Giants.
Lions.
Provisionally the pies. I rate these two sides as much the same. I will toss the coin after the late selection changes.

I got seven last week after being 6/6. Then things fell apart, which leaves me, embarrassingly, in amongst the experts. It will all change this week.
