What limitations are you guys referring to here Harry/Lr6050? His occasional brain farts is a habit I can see him losing in time. Perhaps not the best distributor, among no.8s, and doesn’t seem to have flashy kicks like Billy V pulls out of the bag sometimes for example, but I can’t see any major deficiencies in his game (with my highly untrained eye!).

Under the Pump: AWJ out to prove he shouldn't 'hang up the boots', time on Donaldson's side to show what he can do

He’s still is with SA though.

An outsider's assessment of South Africa's World Cup chances

Who’s Alex Jones?

When you mention most players from 2019 were in a similar or worse position, what do you mean? Are you referring to form, fitness, team form, world ranking?

What the Boks and French gained from a magnificently brutal battle that summed up why we love rugby

I meant more a subscription service, as the clubs/national teams/schools/journalists etc. can access, but available to the commoners.

The Thursday Two-up: Biggest surprises and how the south matches up to north so far

Interesting stat. Where can regular folk get stats like this Harry – something a bit more in depth and compiled than the stuff available on ESPN etc.?

Excuse the weird symbols and omissions. My posts usually get bl-ck-d on this website for some word or other and aster ix don’t work either.

Coach Power Rankings: Cheik at 5, Eddie at 7, Dave below both. Plus a surprise No.1 ahead of autumn series

Was it a rescue though, or a —– raid? SWAT tend to busy themselves putting people in jail more than releasing them!

I’d go with Alldritt too.

Can’t say I’ve seen anything spectacular from Cretin personally. Perhaps not paying attention enough though.

'Tour of hell': Who looks strong, who looks weak and who's under PRESSURE in the big north vs south battles

Which two would be your swaps in and out Harry?

Why in your view would SA prefer France to NZ Harry?

All Blacks claim TRC title as Boks fall short of target against clock-killing Pumas

Why were the boks so fired up for this? I don’t buy that it’s because of any White.

AUS vs SA studs and duds: Coach or cattle behind Wallabies' troubling 'psyche' flaw, and what's up with Giteau Law pick?

Regarding the above I would say though that ultimately it’s impossible for people watching from the sidelines to know how much this might or might have not dizzied him or thrown his concentration off. To condemn him for fakery as if one does know – as if one knows his motives as well, no less – is a form of prejudice ultimately that mainstream (and alternative, sometimes!) media is far too happy to engage in.

WILL GENIA: 'I hate that's the way the game is going' - the 'atrocious and ridiculous' act in Wallabies' win

Yes I realize there is an rather puritanical anti-free speech algorithm operating on this website (so much so I cannot even write the word for the thing 😂). We can get there with clues again though ‘sensor’ + the word for a large boat….
Were it not for the big brother-ish bots, this would be a magnificent website.

WILL GENIA: 'I hate that's the way the game is going' - the 'atrocious and ridiculous' act in Wallabies' win

A lot of melodramatic, click-powered hypocrisy in the reaction to this card. White did the right thing by his team – and broke no unspoken law in rugby. He copped a whack in the face, big enough to give him a decent jolt as can be seen by the NATURAL speed replay, and is under no obligation, moral or technical, to prejudice his team’s chances by playing on under those circumstances, as if it didn’t happen.
Might stings some to hear it, but gamesmanship is as much a part of rugby as it is in football. So much so it has its own special name in rugby. I can’t actually write it because the bots an d admins aren’t letting it through, so…excrement-housery, but less medical sounding.

My impression too. Are you basing that on stats you’ve seen showing the HREs come quicker/good outcomes slower in World Cups vs non-WC games, or just eyeballing it, or just inferring it from how teams adjust their style of play as they come into WCs?

Rugbycology: 'Coach killers' - High Risk Errors and what they tell us about the four Rugby Championship rivals

I wonder why that is. I’d have thought SA would have that stat sewn up with their emphasis on defence and efficiency. Perhaps the Argies spend fewer phases setting up the clearing box-kick, maybe making them from a narrower angle? My impression is that they don’t run it all that much out of their own 22, so must be kicking it? Be interesting to know if the clearing kicks that come after the phases of play that produce this stat make less meters on average than SA and ABs as a result.

Super interesting. Presumably the good outcome croc-waters are narrower for the boks because by the time they start swimming they’ve already stepped across a bunch of ‘stepping-stones’, to stick with the analogy (box kicks until they’re into the opponents 22)?

Ireland would have wide croc-waters as well I’m guessing? Lots of phases.

Cheers interesting

7 Boks, 4 ABs, 3 Pumas and a solitary Wallaby make our TRC team of the tournament so far

Anyone feel a few of the SA players have looked a little burned out in the last few games (Etzebeth, De Allende, Bonambi, Lood de Jager)? Club season hasn’t even started yet for these guys.

By the way according to the ref the no release in the Petaia try wasn’t applicable because he was in the end-goal area.

Aus vs Arg studs and duds: 'Outright calamity' - part-time No.15 fails basics, TT dominated, Rennie feels heat

Long one. Controversial view perhaps, but I think team management needs some degree of responsibility for conduct of their players in a general sense, and to a degree that applies with incidents like this. An experienced player is less likely to do this than a rookie on a mission to impress. I don’t think that means the rookie shouldn’t be selected, but there should be strong incentivisation of coaches to prepare players (especially wings and full backs) for the perils of the aerial game before they send them out there to do battle.

ANALYSIS: Brutal Boks suffocate All Blacks despite early setback, exposing more problems for Foster to solve

I’d love for Arendse to be able to take advantage of all tests available beforethe WC, but I fear that sooner or later a player is going to be left paraplegic or worse from a mid-air spin spin like that and they need to take a strong, and most importanly, objective position on incidenents where players are endangered like that, and even on teams who pick inexperienced/over-aroused players who go on to cause those kinds of incidents (objective in the sense of being outcomes-based – I don’t think there was anything cyncial in it at all on Arendse’s part). He should get a lengthy suspension in my view, and the team fined. Controversial view no doubt.

Diversity doctrines have noticeably lowered the standard of match commentary. Same thing in the recent sevens. Half of the diversity picks don’t seem to have even mastery of the English language (I could give quite a few embarrassing examples of this). On the other hand, studio analysis does seem good though generally…
If they focused on opportunity rather than outcomes and didn’t allow diversity to trump merit, I think it would work. There are excellent black/female/etc. commentators out there (Ugo monye, the lady who does the Breakdown sometimes, etc.), but for whatever reason generally they don’t seem to be supplanting more obvious ‘quota picks’.
