This team has had a really good year. All of these changes sound like nonsense to me.

Carey the clutch king: Gloveman's stunning 98, Cummins heroics keep Kiwi curse alive in thrilling comeback win

It’s the Craddock school of cricket journalism. If Carey makes a score here, do we move on to Head or Marsh?

Marnus regains form but Australia's ongoing middle-order woes put heat on Carey as Kiwis claw back into Test

I think Starc is the lucky member of the cartel, in that he is seen as an automatic inclusion

Neser has been a great servant to Australian cricket and played 2 tests… I think getting him a couple more is worthwhile

This article is a pretty good guide for why Bancroft was overlooked. There is a need for the team to get younger. Bancroft/Neser/Boland might be next in line, but it may make more sense to go with Green/The good Johnson/Morris

Windies' dynasty decline a cautionary tale for Australian selectors with major transition period looming

Oh yay, a soccer guy is here.

Thank you for your insight.

If you use a really dumb projection system 50/30/20 for their last three years, Marnus would be projected to average about 48 going forward, Smith 49, Green 32 and Warner about 30.

Smith and Marnus are not long term problems…

'He's been undone by certain plans': Marnus must learn lessons over form slump but spot not under threat

Teams do this stuff all of the time. Given how much harder batting is at night, giving away whatever runs you might get out of your 10th wicket partnership is worth it to try and get a couple of wickets under lights. It is actually trying to win, and thus respecting your opposition.

Shamar's a superstar: Windies rookie destroys Australia with all-time great spell to break 27-year drought in cliffhanger

I’ve been burnt before hoping the Windies would come back, but I have at least some optimism that they can build on this.

Arrogance is seeing a guy get 7 for and going straight for a pretty well reasoned declaration.

There is a subset of fans that have a ridiculously short leash, and selectors have an incredibly long leash with incumbents. There is probably a happy middle out there.

Besieged batting duo face moment of truth with Windies setting Aussies tricky target as Marnus slump continues

I would love this to be true but this seems to be more a case of a few guys playing with a lot more character than in recent tours than an appreciable increase in skill. Can’t recall a Windies team for anlong time that would bounce back from 5-65.

Aussies face huge call over batting experiment with Smith and Green failing again as Windies turn Test on its head

Larger sample required on that I think. The selectors have gone all-in on Green.

I wasn’t supportive of the changes, but this seems like a terribly small sample. Smith averaged 42 last year, not his best year, but given the strength of the opposition it was okay. Labuschagne averaged 35. Slightly more troubling.. Green is yet to show anything at test level but three innings back seems like a pretty short trial for something that people who compile lists of the best 6 batsmen in the country would walk away from.

As do I. Pretty sure the failed referendum has set our leaders back on doing anything about this for a long time though.

Just call it Great Friday and move it to the first Friday in February. You won’t get the BCF lobby on board unless it’s in summer.

Stable democracy, good institutions, health care and education for most, generally fair treatment of labour. There should be a day to celebrate this stuff.
