Spot on!

Five things learnt from Women's World Cup

Agreed. Also Sarah Walsh, Thea Slatyer, Kate Gill… all injured. Though, of those, only Slatyer is a defender.

So yeah, keep them together, keep them playing and get the squad some quality and varied friendly matches (Hi sponsorship!). I know the last is difficult and costly but it will be hard for the Matildas to go further in a World Cup without it.

Here’s hoping the media and public keep up support of the Matildas. They’ve certainly earned it and fingers crossed for an injection of funding because if the response on social media is anything to go by, the public WANT to hear more! Loads more.

Matildas preparing for Olympic qualifiers

Great analysis. Football is my fave sport and I’ve been following the Matildas over the last 3 World Cups and I feel we’re on the verge of something huge.

Not only has there been increased media coverage but there’s also been increased support from the media, by that I mean POSITIVE reporting as well as a wider diversity of coverage and more in-depth. A massive improvement on four years ago.

Sermanni is doing a top job and we have a squad of players, not a starting 11 which not many other countries can boast. This will hold us in good stead moving forward. Yes, the defence clearly needs work but that will come.

Bring on the Olympics!
