Has Izzy touched the ball in the second half?

GWS Giants vs Sydney Swans: AFL live scores, blog

Not really a debut game – most of the fans are Swans fans – its their home game too!

I believe half of the tickets were given away for free to boost the numbers.

That’s a good crowd for Sydney though, even with the free tickets.

The Daily Rugby League Telegraph is a cash for comment newspaper and the AFL have obviously invested heavily in getting them to promote AFL and the game today.

If you look at Sydney’y other newspaper, the Sydney Morning Herald you’ll see a much more balanced sports report.

Are you a paid employee of the AFL.

I’ve never seen someone parrot off so much AFL promotion in a blog in my life.

“Soccer” is the most watched sport in the world and the AFL is neve ever likely to get anywhere near it.

A-League fails to make the A-list

I think ICF has given a fair acccount of the topic, the problem is in the interpertaion of what it means and whether this is a good thing or bad thing for the A-League.

It all depends in the end on who is prepared to bid for the rights in their current form and whether that leads to a greater awareness and following of the league or not.

In the current climate I think FTA won’t add a lot to the equation, the biggest part of the deal is the Socceroos and the international WC games.

The A-League is an add on that will add some value to the deal but won’t be the deal breaker.

Unlikely that anyone other than SBS or ABC will bid for the A-League FTAs.

A-League fails to make the A-list

What a pointless article and irreverant comments.

You are the blood sucking parasite mate who does not know the first thing he is talking about, except of a vitriolic hate of the FFA and Australian football.

Another goobledy gook article about nothing, littered with so called first hand eye witness accounts of fictitious disgruntled football fans.

Give us a break will ya!

Maybe football fans don't hate football after all

I’m glad so many of you Victorians are getting excited about this, but up here in Sydney despite all the media hype its like trying to wake the dead.

They had GWS tents in Sydny today giving away caps and free tickets to the game, but a lot of people weren’t even interested in the free tickets.

I can’t even get anyone else at work interested in going to the game.

Well, good luck to GWS whatever they do.

GWS-Swans buzz just like a prelim, says Ward

We’re going to the Jets game and I wouldn’t underestimate Sydney to win.
I hope they can go a bit further.

Is it true that from 5th or 6th, even if they win every game to get to the grand final, that Sydney won’t play any more games at home?

It really is anyone's A-League championship

Yes it was entertaining and its right in our town.

Spin doctors only dig the FFA's hole deeper

The acting will come in handy as a professional footballer . . . 🙂

Who is paying for the Small Sided Football program that the FFA runs?

Spin doctors only dig the FFA's hole deeper

I provided the evidence on how much the FFA gets from registrations.
The FFA does not rip people off to play football.

Dugald’s links are on how much individual clubs charge to play at their club – nothing to do with the FFA.

Talk about trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes with spin.

Your article says its the FFA’s fault that registrations cost so much.

The truth is the FFA only gets $12.00.

Football registrations can cost anything from $50 to $1,500 and the fees are set by the community clubs, not the FFA.

The FFA is not to blame for the cost of playing football – their share of the cost is very small.

But don’t let that stop you having fun criticising the FFA – its a very easy and gutless thing to do these days.

We’re not talking about a training method, this is a full fledged national program.

That’s nothing.

Manchester United charges one million dollars per minute for kids to play for them.

FFA, Its a disgrace!
I’m glad Palmer is taking a stand against all this.

Spin doctors only dig the FFA's hole deeper

The FFA do compete somehow.

Even though NRL charge nothing for rego up to U10s and the AFL pay you to play AFL, football is still the most played sport and continues to grow.

Imagine if football was free or Westpac gave kids a $20 bank account to play football.
It would wipe out the orther codes at junior levels and they wouldn’t have enough grounds to hold them.

At first I thought that Palmer was going to bring down the A-League as other owners followed suit, but that didn’t eventuate and things have actually come out better for the FFA than Palmer.

The A-League looks more resilient and there are even three other groups vying to put in another team – a GCU replacement, Canberra and West Sydney.

I don’t think the incident has “split football fans”, the split was always there, the sentiments were already there and the known FFA haters were there as usual.

There are also a lot of people who follow football with a passion, but don’t care about the A-League or the FFA – there are hundreds of leagues and comps and national teams around the world to follow apart from the A-League.

Palmer is like a punch drunk gambler shouting “Come on, double or nothing Lowy”.
He has sued the FFA for 20M, so if he wins the court case it cost him nothing to have had an A-League team.

United we stand: fans of all A-League clubs must rally

Just bought 12 tickets to the Sydney FC and Newcastle Jets game on Sunday.

It wasn’t EPL standard, but had fun at the Melbourne Victory game last week so we are going to go again.
Those Cove supporters were good!

I think you and Dugald are the ones with the agendas.

It costs $32.50 to register a 6 year old in Victoria and the FFA get $12.00.
http://footballfedvic.com.au/fileadmin/user_upload/Registrations/Fees/2012_Player_Registration_Fees_-_Regional.pdf

Everyone keeps pillaging the FFA for the high cost of football registration as though they are ripping off all the little kiddies, but all they get is $12.00 and that’s reasonable for the things they do – all ages, all competitions, national and international.

Spin doctors only dig the FFA's hole deeper

I think you are being a bit unfair on the FFA, that they do nothing – who brought in and administers the samall sided comp for a start, who runs all the interstate and national youth programs and competitions.

How much does the AFL, NRL, ARU get from each registration?

Spin doctors only dig the FFA's hole deeper

Come and play in NSW – registration costs are much lower.

This is what my kids pay for registration: http://www.footballnsw.com.au/fileadmin/user_upload/Competitions/2012_Leagues/Associations_Detailed_registration_fees_2012_season.pdf

It doesn’t cost $300.00 to register a 6 year old – it costs $23.20 and the FFA gets $12.00.

That seems pretty reasonable to me.

The FFA is to blame for the Carbon Tax too!

But don’t let that stop everyone baggiing the FFA again.

Seems to be the country’s most popular pastime at the moment.

It wasn’t 40 degrees when they played. The temperature was around 35 degrees when they kicked off and fell to 31.2 when the final whistle sounded.

I’d imagine its largely due to Fox sports programming and the fact that Perth is 3 hours behind the East Coast of Australia.
It could have been played later, but the 4:30 kick off puts them in 7:30 prime time on the East Coast.

It is a bit hot to play when it gets over 30, but its not fatal for professionals and especially with regular drinks breaks.

They played a few League and AFL games in those temperatures and even hotter, especially trial games in the country.
