With GWS coming into the comp with games live on TV they will have great chance of dominating the TV code war. GWS is getting great traction here (i hope not to the detriment of the Swans). If they can play a lot of friday night games and Swans get the Saturday night games I for one will be happy.
Homebush on a Friday night will struggle crowd wise because of the traffic nightmare in Sydney, so those people who are fans will watch it on TV.

An AFL tsunami is coming to TV in Sydney.

AFL and NRL finals show different geographical spread

I am from Sydney and it frustrates me that on Friday the NRL has a live game but not the AFL. At least I get the Swans live when I don’t attend (games played at ANZ)

League bloodlines impossible to breed out

The Swans are going just fine with great form leading into the September. Hopefully they can secure the hearts and minds of Sydney with a great semifinals. They will need it because the GWS is getting traction in Sydney and I fear our club will loose supporters to them.

The AFL Finals will deliver much-needed exclamation point

I am an AFL supporter and one thing we have lost is the different body types. The modern AFL player looks more like a middle distant runners compared to the Gladiator like bodies of the Rugby league players.

But in saying that, endurance is more a factor in AFL where the explosive speed of Rugby league is their thing.
Look at the body of Usain Bolt compared to a middle distant runner. The same general comparison can be made with AFL and Rugby League.

League bloodlines impossible to breed out

True.. I only saw the tackle waiting for the AFL on the sports news. What Preston did was courageous to say the least. You most likely did not see it or you would agree.

League bloodlines impossible to breed out

Karmichael Hunt did.

Were you playing a little bit of Australian football by this stage?
While I was at Churchie (Anglican Church Grammar School) in grade 11 and 12 I started playing a bit of AFL. In my final year I played in the GPS competition for a bit of fun with my mates. I thought it might be a good opportunity in my last year and maybe my only opportunity to play an AFL game, so I jumped in and had a bit of a kick around.

League bloodlines impossible to breed out

HHmm… Did anyone see Preston Cambell tackle Fui Fui. One hell of a big bloke taken down by one small bloke. As much as I love the toughness of AFL Preston is a great example of toughness. Shame he done not have the body type for AFL, he would have been great off the ball blind siding players.

League bloodlines impossible to breed out

I know from playing VFL how tough it is off the ball. Getting elbowed when not seeing it coming, knees in thighs, tripping and pushing. If they could have cameras following off the ball, these thugby fans would be converted.

All the telly shows on the highlights is the ball flying through the goals and fist pumping. Where off the ball it can be like cage fighting.

League bloodlines impossible to breed out

Disgraceful Victorian culture. The Swans are the standard all clubs should look to as how a club is run. We have never had an off field scandal and being a stones throw away from Oxford Street that is hard
Great game but we need to get this Victorian boys club attitude out of it so we can con core all codes..

Agents board to deliberate on Nixon future

Can you give a list of the 2 NRL’s in play.

Which one is ST.george Illawarra in?

Waldron gave Melbourne its best chance to love league

John Melbourne

I too would like to read up on this topic. Can you direct me to where you read about this topic (books links etc.)?

Can you elaborate on what you have been reading on the subject, so we can discuss.

Thanks in advanced, Dirk

Storm-gate isn't the NRL's biggest ever scandal

When will people like you realise the problems regarding respect for women is not a Football, or a certain codes problem. It is a problem for society.

Davidde, the cheating aligations facing the Storm are one of the biggest scandals that the NRL has faced.
Respect for women or NRL players showing lack of respect for women has nothing to do with the NRL.

It is a problem of the induvidual and society. The media is nothing but detrimental for the cause for respect for women when reporting on such incidents. The level of jornalism in this country is a discrace. And yes Davidde have proven with this article you are part of the jornalism that is utter judmental rubish.

Storm-gate isn't the NRL's biggest ever scandal

I find what you say “AFL’s ANZAC day” very offensive. Implying AFL has ownership to ANZAC

NRL shows guile in its "war" with the AFL

Let him play, he is guilty of being stupid. It is only a gram. Surely more than a gram was consumed by many players in the off season but were not caught by the police only the AFL so they will get to play.

As the AFL is an Australian sport and don’t play our game internationally do we really have to go by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code?

We are the Australian football code so surely we can play by OUR rules and let this slide. Like the ones who get get 2 strikes and get to go about business as usual for the AFL. AFL is stressful so protecting our players from scrutiny from the media and public is paramount.

Stokes could face lifetime ban if found guilty

So once again the Swans are getting rorted by this GWS team. How long can the Swans survive with the GWS trying to poach our city and and any fans we have. Now the money we relied on from Camberra as well. Way to put the nail in the coffin of the Swans Kevin. Shame AFL Shame.

We Barely get watched on TV or supported in Sydney as it is, but at least we could draw a crowd at Camberra and now that is to be taken from us as well. I am growing to despise this GWS team. It is going to drive away any fans of AFL that are in Sydney and support the true loved Sydney club.

Sheedy wants GWS games played in Canberra

20 pages of league a day.. Bring it on 🙂

Will low viewing numbers push rugby free to air?

Totally agree.

It is very expensive living in Sydney. Shedding out the coin to watch 1 NRL match (god help you if you are paying for a family). Or for the same money get Fox for the month with money to spare for beer.
I spend the day at the beach, then home for a BBQ (because of the weather we can), beer and footy on the box. I would go to a couple of games a year. And yet I call myself a MASSIVE NRL fan. Allot of my friends are the same. In Sydney you pay a high price to live here.
