I’m not across parra’s recruiting Chop but wouldn’t they have moved players on to purchase new ones I.e. Watmough and takarangi? If part of this deal involves making payment to players that are no longer with you then you may as well wait for their contract to expire before moving them on and then purchasing new/better players.
Parramatta breach the cap, but the only ones cheated are the fans
Not intending to come across as rude but I’m just wondering why you think this is so different to the storm and bulldogs cases? Didn’t parra move ‘dead-wood’ on so they could buy better players?

Haha the side you follow reflects the scenario you use to support your argument Barry
Rugby league's premier event has become tragically sanitised
Until the refs and the match review committee start doing their jobs properly and apply appropriate penalties to grubby tactics (i.e. Beau Scott hitting halves/fullbacks late and deliberate) you will continue to get fans screaming out for the biff to return. We all know that the first chance B. Scott gets in game 1 he will smash slater or thurston off the ball and late and the best we can probably expect is thaiday to run in grab him and say please don’t do that again or I won’t be happy. The bubbling anticipation that use to occur in someone getting retribution is gone and personally I think that’s a shame.

I find it pretty amusing Beau Scott is referred to as a tough guy because he is renowned for his cheap shots on the playmakers. I will be dissapointed if QLD aren’t ready for his tactics this year and as soon as he tries it I would expect thaiday or inglis to pull him into line.
JT in Scott's crosshairs for Origin I
Haha you don’t recall your side being written off last year renegade? The majority thought that QLD’s advantage in having 2 home games against an untested NSW halves pairing would see them walk it in. We can both choose to remember it however we like though.
PRENTICE: I can’t see enough points in the NSW backline
Good to see some positivity EJ. Obviously I hope QLD win but I am surprised at how quickly some have been to right off this NSW side (especially considering the same things were being said last series). As good as the QLD backline is, if the forwards don’t do their jobs then it will be a long night.

You could swap Gillett and start thaiday but in my opinion thaiday offers more coming off the bench once fatigue has set in.
State of Origin 2015 final edition: Queensland Maroons
It’s all done and dusted now and NSW deserved the series but are you saying the second game last year wasnt affected by atrocious referreeing? Surely fans won’t be subjected to that type of officiating again.
Time for a culture and perception shift for the NSW Blues
The instruction from Lockyer was for the kick to go straight up and give the ball back to the NSW forwards. Unfortunately for gidley, smith put too much on the kick and he copped the punishment.

I’d argue EJ that if ch9 showed a lot more storm games on free to air then the punters would be stating that the standard has increased from last year. Every team seems to lift against them and the game on the weekend against the roosters considering the conditions was the best of the year for intensity and ball movement. I understand the storm aren’t well supported in Sydney but there a lot of people who would tune in to see them get beaten.
Are Melbourne Storming to the 2015 NRL premiership?
Will be interesting to see if there is a charge laid because there was definite contact with the legs.
Cronk field goal sees Storm sneak home against the Roosters
Ch9’s coverage needs a complete overhaul including commentary. Last nights game between broncos and saints was a prime example of atmosphere not being reflected through the box. How hard would it be to put the mics a little closer to the crowd and turn the commentators mics down a bit so you can hear the atmosphere coming through. I think the commentators (Hadley excluded because personally I think he is a lost cause) might raise their excitement levels a bit when they can hear the crowd and the viewers might pick up on the excitement of the game. A simple touch that I think would make a world of difference.
The ‘voice’ of rugby league is off the pace
It was a try everyday of the week. Pretty poor call.

Love the comments regarding origin ticket prices. Prime example was game one last year at suncorp where corporates rattled their jewellery whilst the genuine fans clapped and cheered in appreciation.
How about giving the Raiders some hope, Mr Smith?
Call me crazy then because I don’t want Beau Scott anywhere near a Broncos jersey.
Scott no guarantee to stay at Knights
Good article TB and it has been irritating me the amount of time wasting currently occurring. I can’t stand it when a player gets a cramp and they stand around and stretch him out, what happened to giving the ball to another player and playing on?
The NRL in 2015 is just a waste of time
The only person who was proclaiming souths would go through the season undefeated is Dean Ritchie and his credibility was shot years ago.
Souths to go undefeated? Calm down, it's only Round 4
Thaiday deserved to be dropped after his round one performance and the demotion to the bench actually made him improve in round 2. Silly penalties and laziness have been in his game for a while now and I’m all for Bennett making an example of him. My issue with him at the moment is that he doesn’t penetrate the line at all. Sam used to keep the legs pumping and make the defenders work now he hits and stops looking for a quick play the ball which rarely happens.
Sam Thaiday has too much class to sit on the bench, Wayne
Great article and I agree completely. I was hoping the rules committee were going to introduce the 5 minute bin in the offseason as a deterant but it is was suddenly wiped from the table. It would probably make life easier for the refs because 10 minute is too much of an advantage for a side these days.
Either send the thugs off or let the players belt them
Agree parrafan a very impressive return by Wicks. Kept expecting him to gas out but it never happened.
SMITHY: Souths well ahead of the pack after two rounds of NRL
There are penalties awarded when a player is tackled on suspicion but no remifications for hitting a player well and truly after he has passed the ball which is completely absurd. Slater did his AC in last years origin through (common denominator) Scott hitting him late and nothing was done or said then and he will continue to do it because he can get away with it. The NRL have seriously dropped the ball on this one because whilst I’m all for pressuring the playmakers within the rules, you simply can’t just hit someone late which is what occurred.
MASCORD: One great inconsistency puts NRL players in danger
The biggest issue I had from the game in question was Beau Scott taking Thurston out well and truly after he had passed the ball. Andrew johns labelled it a cheap shot and he was spot on. I’m all for putting pressure on the playmakers but the late hit isn’t within the rules and needed to be dealt with accordingly. Scott has prior form and he will continue to get away with it because there are no remifications for this grubby tactic.
Thurston tactics spark league debate
As much as I hate to admit it, this game hinges on the referrees ability to keep both sides apart. I would say that it is crucial for QLD that the game is reffed inline with an NRL game and ruck interpretations and 10mtrs are enforced.
