This is the problem. He never had the intention of staying on his feet. It is no different to just flopping over the ball to seal it off. Other posters also mentioned, that he was beaten to the ball. Charging in from that distance is reckless and deserve sanction. Yes I am biased as my son suffered a dislocated shoulder last week because of this kind of cleanout from the side. That said however, I always coached players to number one, beat the jackal to the ball and if you don’t then rather focus to make it difficult for the jackal to get it out quickly so defense can set. Never do mindless things like this that will put your team at risk of being awarded a penalty against them or worse lose a player to cards.

The fact that the referee didn’t even consider the law of staying on his feet, just shows how few referees actually understand it. The senior ones that is. I have seen junior refs blow up arriving support players for just putting their hands on the ground, never mind their bodies.

Reds face nervous wait as Taniela Tupou cited ahead of Waratahs showdown

Whow, a character assassination telling Willie le Roux to kick on the wing as he cannot catch?

I guess there is still space on the bus for Gregor.

Coaches better watch out. Telling a player that he needs to work on his shortcomings will be seen as bullying soon.

Isn’t that what you would have done in any case?
