Amazing to read people try and say this has nothing to do with sport, as though sports culture is completely separate from normal everyday society. What are they on?

It’s hard to fathom that they’re not simply trying to shut down the conversation. Strangely enough there are still people that watch the footy show, some of them actually think Sam’s a decent knockabout bloke, which is why this article is relevant.

Sam Newman – no laughing matter

Furthermore on this – I’m an Essendon supporter and see Eddie as an outstanding role model and leader for not just the Collingwood Footy Club but the community as a whole.

The Goodesy thing was awful, no excuse for that, but a few other things have been really seized upon by people unfairly – I don’t think these types of opportunistic, perhaps ridiculous, attacks on his cultural sensitivity are anywhere near fair considering what he’s done for the game as a whole.

Can we can acknowledge that Africans are genetically stronger and faster than white people and move on with the rest of our lives? I hope so.

When will Eddie's gaffes subside?

The comment from this week by itself is probably an example of discrimination of caucasians, suggesting we can never run as fast as africans. This is a fact of life – africans genetically have faster and stronger strength switches in their body, you could ask any biologist.

Have a nap I reckon, Benjamin.

When will Eddie's gaffes subside?

We already have rules in places to sanction those that duck their heads into tackles. For the ones that draw head high contact by dropping their knees people just have to accept that, if players can’t be bothered getting low and tackling them properly, they’re going to be penalised for it. Been this way for 150 years and it’s fine.

Ban players that draw head-high free kicks

Good article, Ben, I think you echo most bombers supporters. The hard run home against the Roos and the fans reaction was another highlight of the year for me. We’ve put kids into a bloody hot kitchen and they’ve handled themselves extremely well – all we could have asked for was 100% effort every single week and I think we’ve been really close to that.

An Essendon supporter’s perspective on 2016

LOL. The emotional high did it for them then, nice work.

Do Essendon deserve Friday night football in 2017? If not, who does?

“Warne cops sledges and criticisms against him..” I had to check the date on the comment, April 5th.

He’s still whinging about getting dropped, more than 15 years later, when we won the test match he got dropped for.
Ask Waleed Aly how he reacts when he so much as anticipates criticism.

Great cricketer but very poor bloke. It’s a shame that Samuels bothered to mention his name.

In knocking Warne, Samuels shows his double standards

You ignore the final critical point, Tyson. You can say whatever you bloody well like on public property but if you choose to go to an event that has conditions of entry, you agree to those terms and your right to publicise your xenophobic tantrum is non-existent whilst in a stadium that doesn’t belong to you. No law degree required to understand this.

There is a place for politics in sport, but not for fascism

Do-gooders and bleeding hearts!

I feel better now.

There is a place for politics in sport, but not for fascism

As a member of the club it’s impossible to not see the banning of the players not being a stitch that constantly brings people of the club together against the rest of the comp moving forward. The situation doesn’t have to be promoted, it’s already here, while the notion of unity is a positive one that will remain a theme for many years while Woosha leads the boys to the summit.

Why the Bombers might surprise many this season

Agreed, quite well-balanced.

Don’t go off your head at the AFL’s illicit drug problem

Adults getting outraged about other adults taking drugs in their own free time and not hurting anyone. I’d like to know if said adults have a completely unblemished drink driving record.

Don’t go off your head at the AFL’s illicit drug problem

Mat obviously takes this issue very seriously, let’s not disparage anyone’s right to aggressively condone awful behaviour.

The denial of intention isn’t an excuse for racism

Two kids getting caught taking coke doesn’t change the societal forces that result in the vast majority of Australians using drugs on a regular basis. Pert needs to figure out that the way he views this issue is completely different to kids in their early twenties – he needs to be willing to listen and change as well.
Illicit drugs like coke and pills are illegal, whereas drugs like alcohol contribute to thousands more deaths in Australia every year but are considered socially acceptable because our government can tax it, so it’s legal. Many of us don’t look to the law for our moral frameworks because the law can and will be corrupted, so it’s just nonsensical.

Kids will continue taking drugs now and for the foreseeable future. Most of them will figure out how to get away with it too. The lawmakers and do-gooders can accept this reality and work with it or dig their heels in and pretend like the law flawlessly dictates what is right and wrong like belligerent old farts (before having a drink and driving home).

Pert worried about illicit drug use in AFL
