I hoped that since the dust had settled we’d hear a lot less about the refereeing. Unfortunately I’ve been bitterly disappointed.
Like in this piece, most of the criticism of Berry is intentionally vague. Why? Because the thing is Swain did illegally pull down that maul, Valetini did make shoulder contact with the head, the Brumbies scrum was folding like a deck chair (and probably should have been further pinged for the late game collapses), and Brumbies players didn’t bother to adjust to a referee one metre away yelling “last feet”.
Take away the scrum penalties and the last few minutes and you have a pretty even ledger penalty-wise.

Seven talking points from the Super Rugby AU and Aotearoa finals

A fair bit of imagination? I’m no Enid Blyton but it sure looks to me like he intentionally pulls the maul down.

Originally wasn’t all that sold on SBW, but after seeing the interview with Tupou I realised that Polynesians need representation amongst the suits. They’re just so important to our local game and he’s obviously a role model and mentor to so many. Sure he’s not that polished, but honestly, who really cares? I’ll take SBW over most of Fox’s lineup

The Wrap: Suncorp buzzes as Super Rugby final delivers three winners

Take away the scrum penalties and the ones at the death it would have been pretty even.

Super Rugby thriller! Last-ditch James O'Connor try hands Reds the Super Rugby AU title

Reds scrum utterly dominant, always going forward and maintaining structure while the Brumbies cratered and went backwards. Anyone saying different is potentially delusional. Don’t be that guy.

Discipline/recklessness costly for the Brumbies who could have easily seen more people in the bin throughout the game. Wright (tackle), White (leading knees into Petaia’s head during try attempt) and Faingaa (shoulder charge) all lucky to an extent, some more than others. Disagree with those saying that Scott-Young should have got a yellow for his high slap on Lolesio. That has never been a yellow. The late yellows, however, looked to be justified.

Some 50/50 offside calls at the death definitely benefitted the Reds. Great contest and awesome spectacle. Well done both teams.

Fremantle vs Melbourne highlights: AFL live scores, blog

It seems like our hopes lie with Steve Smith. Besides Rogers, the others seem pretty flakey at the moment.

Ashes 2015: Australia needs a hero

great article! nathan lyon is a beast, cant wait for game 3

He might not seem like much, but Nathan Lyon could steal Australia the Ashes

freo should comfortably finish top 4, and hopefully top 2 with a few close wins. From then its all down to finals form where anythings possible so i wouldn’t read too much into freo’s current form. Its been a good time to be out of form, having had mostly pretty weak oppositions.

The last laugh or another early whimper for the Dockers in 2015?
