I’d love to see him stay with Huddersfield if they get promoted. If not, I agree Newcastle would be a great fit, and are a team unlikely to go straight back down, as is the concern with Brighton.

His style of play would suit that of the Bundesliga, and I would rather him go there than sit on the bench for Pep.

Aaron Mooy has his sights on the Premier League

Mitchell looks a great talent, but he is a few years off even being in the origin frame. He’d be competing with a strong bunch of players who The Barry has already named, and at this point needs to carry on playing consistent footy for the Roosters and Origin will come when he is ready.

But not for a few years, he’s too young and hasn’t fully matured his mental game yet.

Hello Laurie Daley, it's me, Paul Vaughan

I agree, in fairness Woods has played well in previous Origins, but his current form does not warrant selection in this strong NSW side.

Since Arsenal last won the league, Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and even Leicester have won the league! Yes they have qualified for the CL year in year out, but when did that become the season objective? At what point did the Arsenal board accept they’re not going to compete for the title with the squad they have, and what do Arsenal have without the CL?

Cloud of uncertainty looms over Wenger as Arsenal miss Champions League

Thanks The Doc.

Wenger’s reluctancy to spend the big bucks when needed is really hurting Arsenal’s chances of competing. They pulled out of signing Kane because he was too expensive, then ending up paying more for Xakha!

If they fail do keep up with the big spenders you mentioned, then yes, there is a massive risk they fall further down the pecking order in an increasingly competitive EPL.

I like this team, and feel it has a great chance of winning this series.

Depending on Thurston, the Maroons have a weakness in the halves which needs to be exposed.

As a Dragons fan, I’m glad to see Frizzell, Dugan and De Belin in the squad, but don’t understand how Vaughan was overlooked.

NSW Blues team for State of Origin Game 1, 2017: Expert reaction

Llorente may be a good option, and he may be more willing to leave now he has helped keep Swansea up. There were talks of him heading to Chelsea as a back up to Costa but decided to stay put in Wales to keep them away from relegation.

I’d personally like to see Defoe head back to West Ham, but a reunion with Spurs can’t be ruled out.

Spurs have lacked that bench support, and I thought Janssen would have more of an impact this season, but he is still 22 and will be a good talent to have I’m sure.

Harry Kane's giant step towards securing the Golden Boot

Still one more round of fixtures to go so anything can happen! I agree though, Chelsea won’t want that 100m price tag going up even more!

Harry Kane's giant step towards securing the Golden Boot

Mourinho won’t get sacked, even if they do lose. I think that’s clear to see.

The board at Utd have put trust in him to spend crazy amounts of money, something they never did with Moyes.

I agree that his managerial style has become rather frustrating. I’m not a Utd fan, but haven’t enjoyed watching them play this year, especially without Zlatan.

Once his side takes the lead, they are tough to beat. We might see his ‘park the bus’ tactics next week.

Manchester United must win the Europa League for Jose Mourinho's sake

Thanks mate. I agree that they will have had a strong season if they do win, and will throw ridiculous amounts of money to go after to league and CL double next season.

A lot rides on the FA Cup final for Chelsea and Arsenal. Wenger can justify his job with a win, whilst Chelsea can confirm their season dominance.

I think Utd will win. It’ll be close, Ajax are a good team. But as you say, they’ll spend big either way.

Manchester United must win the Europa League for Jose Mourinho's sake

I think missing out on Champions League football would be terrible for United. With the money they have spent, and the faith they have placed in Mourinho, the least he was expected to return is CL football.

United did well to win the League Cup, and have played well in the Europa League. I think they will win it, and deservedly so. What they have done with so many injuries is commendable. It is just unfortunate for them that their league form has suffered.

As for your Arsenal argument, I think it’s worse for them to miss out. Arsenal haven’t been genuine league contenders in years. They have always finished in the top 4 however, and if they don’t do that, then they have nothing, and Wenger is in trouble.

Chicago would want us to package either Bender or Chriss as well, but I don’t think we’d be prepared to do that for Butler.

As for Okafor, I think a lot of his criticism is unwarranted. He’s a good young player who just doesn’t fit with Philly. The kid has talent and I’m sure will go on to be a good player for another team who need a big man.

No luck for Suns in NBA Draft Lottery as 'rigged' allegations grow louder

I’d like to think it’s not, but I’m not sure why they don’t televise it then. What’s to hide?

I just think that Magic Johnson and the Lakers have some weight in the league, and everyone wants them to succeed.

I do like the look of Fox, but he needs to develop a jump shot. We have a crowded backcourt anyway, with Booker, Bledsoe and Elis (not to mention Knight and Price). Plus we have athleticism with Jones Jr and Chriss, so I’m not sure what he would add.

No luck for Suns in NBA Draft Lottery as 'rigged' allegations grow louder

I agree, but I’m not sure what other trade assets we have that Ryan McDonough would be willing to get rid of.

I’d say Bender and Chriss are off limits (of so they should be), no one will want to take on Brandon Knight’s contract, and Dudley/Barbosa are too old.

Okafor is a good talent in my eyes. He has a great offensive game, but hasn’t been utilised well in Philly. If given a fresh start in Phoenix, he could be a far greater alternative than Len.

No luck for Suns in NBA Draft Lottery as 'rigged' allegations grow louder

I am disappointed Len hasn’t developed into the player we all hoped. I do like Alan Williams off the bench, but we are in desperate need of a long-term center. Chandler is a great leadership presence in the locker room, but is not the long term option.

As for the pick, I would keep it but am concerned at the drop off in talent after the top 3.

Thanks mate.

This season has really been great to watch as a fan!

I knew Judge would be a stud but I sure did not expect him to be a success this quickly.

Everyone has contributed this season at some point with the bat as well. Castro went 0-8 the other night in Chicago but is still hitting over .350. Bird hasn’t hit his straps yet but I’m sure he will, and Sanchez is starting to get his swing together. The fact he is hitting at number 5 in this lineup at the moment is just scary. There is the potential to drive in runs from 1-9 especially now Gardner has found his home run swing.

That comeback against Baltimore and the walk-off against the Cubs have been my favourite moments so far this year for sure.

How the Yankees are surprising everyone in baseball

The Orioles are a strong team, and like I said they pose a massive threat along with the Red Sox. I mean any team who has Manny Machado is going to be hard to beat.

How the Yankees are surprising everyone in baseball

Hi Ronan, I agree it will be a great tournament.

Although the white ball does not swing as much as the red Duke ball, David Willey is a case in point in how you can get the ball to swing just enough in the early overs. Being a left armer he has the ability to move the ball into the right-hander through his use of setting the seam position to angle the ball so it nips back.

Comparing Stokes and Mitch Marsh in my opinion is something that cannot be done. Stokes’ statistics in ODI’s don’t paint a true reflection on how important he is to this side and what kind of impact he is capable on any given day. His current form deserves some praise, as he has been able to drastically change his awful statistics from a few years ago, where he was averaging around 14 with the bat and close to 50 with the ball. He has really matured as an international cricketer and I would take him in my team over any other allrounder (test and ODI’s).

Your points about the bowling attack are fair. There is no spearhead to the attack and we will be relying on batting first and putting on close to 400. Having said that, I do feel the variety of the bowling attack can only be seen as a plus.

Thanks for the feedback!

Why England are the favourites for the Champions Trophy

I think current form and the fact they are at home makes England the team to beat.

As for Stokes, he has just adopted the same batting approach the rest of the lineup has – no fear cricket.

Why England are the favourites for the Champions Trophy

Whatever happens it will be a fun tournament to watch. I predict some mammoth scores, with batsman being able to play their shots freely if they negotiate some early swing and movement with the white ball.

Why England are the favourites for the Champions Trophy

As I said in the article, you can defiantly make the argument their is not strike bowler in this lineup, but they bowl as a unit.

We have a left arm quick (Willey), right arm quicks (Ball, Woakes, Stokes), a leggie (Rashid) and off spinner (Ali). Not many teams have that balance.

As for Australia and NZ. I believe Rashid is the best spinner out of that group. He is a wicket taker, and I would have him in my team over any combination of Zampa, Maxwell, Patel and Santner.

The form Stokes has been in recently cannot be argued against. He has improved his ODI batting average from late teens to almost 40 in the past couple of years. Not to mention his bowling has come on leaps and bounds

Why England are the favourites for the Champions Trophy

I would be very surprised if Ball drops as low as 8, and I imagine he’ll get picked up within the top 3 at least. With these rebuilding teams, you take the best player available and worry about how he fits into your team later.

Fox showed against UCLA he can score the basketball, but I agree he needs to develop more of a jump shot. If he can do that, then the sky is the limit for him. Philly aren’t in a win-now mode, and can afford to develop Fox for a few years and have him play alongside Simmons and Embiid for years to come.

2017 NBA Draft: Who are the best fits?

Severino has great potential in my eyes, and I think he pitched a bit better than his numbers showed last year. Keeping Tanaka will be key for us, he has the potential for around 18 wins this year if he gets the necessary run support. The back end of the rotation is the concern though, where we might see a lot of “5 and dives” and need the bullpen to pitch quite a few innings.

Boston will win the division I have no doubts, but agree they aren’t going to be as dominant as people say. Adding Sale was huge, but it’ll be interesting to see how the likes of Betts, Ramirez and Bradley Jr step up with Ortiz in the lineup.

New York Yankees 2017 season preview

I would love to see Montgomery given a chance. I think Green is more suited to the rotation role than Mitchell, who offers great versatility in the bullpen. But we shall wait to see what Joe does.

In terms of Didi, I think Torreyes will be given the nod at SS, but would be exciting to see Tyler Wade at some point this year.
