A bit unusual from the Magic Round, there were 6 Sydney vs Regional match-ups and Sydney teams lost all 6 😊 As a Queenslander that made for a all-round good weekend 😁

Five and a kick: Why the Blues should pick their team around Nicho Hynes - and why time is up for Arthur

Yep…Sharks would have to be deemed the top contender now. They were ruthless with their ruck speed and aggressive hitups in particular and almost always got to half-way at least by the 4th tackle.
Roosters mistakes in the second half killed them, Angus Chriton’s errors and Jared’s stupid penaltys.
Manu I don’t think would have made much difference for the defence but still would have been interesting if he was there.

Sharks announce themselves as major contenders after downing Roosters in high-scoring Magic Round epic

Agree about Flanno, I use to enjoy his commentary on Fox, always very insightful. Also surely they can have someone other then James Graham, the man waffles on too long and becomes extremely hard to listen too, Brandy would bring more to the table.

Full of himself, prickly and easy to rile. Is there any point to NRL360 without Paul Kent?

1976 and 1977, my formative League watching years in Primary school, started following Easts after being mesmerised with Schubert and Fairfax carving up and of course loved the Easts jersey , something magical about watching the Saturday arvo game on ABC and the Sunday match on commercial with Rex Mossop along with the soundtrack from Shaft.

Even enjoyed the Amco Cup games enormously though the dud Fairfax conversion attempt at the end of the 1977 Amco Cup Final against Wests was a kick in the guts, but still loved watching it all

NRL is flying high in 2024 but if this isn’t the best season ever, then which one is?

Geez it’s hard to see them any better that bottom half of the top 8 at best.
Despite maintaining their superstar spine their roster has not improved, and probably now at least a third of the comp have far better rosters on paper.
Papy is fast looking like another Tommy Turbo.
Also the quality sides that slid badly last year will surely have a better year
They have at least a proven coach who gets the best out of ordinary players but Bellamy will surely have to pull out all the tricks to keep this Storm outfit anywhere near the top 4

NRL Round 1 predicted teams: Melbourne Storm - Papenhuyzen sets surprise return date

How the hell did this Storm side (outside of 3 of 4 of the spine an and one forward looks more like a NSW cup side) get 3rd in the comp. The Panthers have waltzed into this GF with their dinner suits on. Compared to the last 2 years with their battles with Souths and the Eels this is a cakewalk. Hopefully who ever wins between Broncos and NZ is not too busted up so the GF is is at least a little bit interesting, ( I had the glorious option tonight have flicking across to GWS and Collingwood for their 4th quarter , no such luck next weekend)

ANALYSIS: Good luck everyone else as Penrith have way To'o much power - but Storm did everything to help them

Hard to believe at the start of the season that at least 1 of the 4 Preliminary Finals teams would be either Warriors, Knights or Raiders, but that is guaranteed now
