Eagles may lose tonight, but it’ll be because of injuries and compressed fixture. If a third of your best 22 is out, that’s the more pressing evidence for not being ‘the same team’, surely? This whole, ‘but can they win away?’ bs is the same reductive and lazy narrative that persists whether we’re in QLD, or the bookies are assessing whether it’s possible to win an away GF. If you want to have a yarn about whether or not the dewy metricon night games suit our kick/mark game style, that’s a more nuanced conversation – but sick of the shrug of the shoulders, ala they must be mentally weak to play so bad away from the comfort of their own beds, etc. Yawn.
