Probably all of the above.

The Giants are doing better than you think

How can the SCG work for a rectangular game, surely this will have RL people up in arms.

Can the SCG revive the NRL's season?

I think AR was stating that for seated members the 3 game package is the minimum to be called a member.

If i rocked up to a game and bought just a entry ticket, i would not be a member.

Interstat e and O/S members may also during the year buy merchandise.

Pet memberships have never been included in totals.

Sydney Swans pass 40,000 AFL members

Swans probably have 3 game members, i am not sure, but interstate, international members who probably will not attend a game are included as are Melbourne members who pay for probably around 7 games in Melbourne as well as the bulk of Sydney members who pay for 11 games in Sydney.

Here knock yourself out

Membership Packages

Sydney Swans pass 40,000 AFL members

About 8k i believe.

Sydney Swans pass 40,000 AFL members

One article is from 2002 and the other is about something 70 years ago.

There is an abolute plethora of fear mongering RL articles within the last 5 years, would be 50 or so fear articles from RL journos.

They still froth at the mouth when you mention GWS.

What the NRL can learn from the NBA

I am not for one minute believing it does not go both ways, but by and large all the fear, h ate and loating comes form the RL end.

That is simply indisputable.

As has been pointed out by many, many people most of the southern media and southern general sports fans have little to no care factor about RL, it is generally just ignored, not out of spite, but because it does not rate.

However plenty of the RL media and RL fanbase in NSW/QLD froth at the mouth about AFL.

There is no comparison and it has been ongoing for many years.

Clear case of insecurity in their own sport.

What the NRL can learn from the NBA

So what you are saying is that the negative comments etc and the fear from RL fans is only a new thing ?, code wars are a Sydney construct and RL people have been in fear for 100 years, if it not AFL it is RU.

The blinkers are solely on many scared RL fans, they really are very insecure in their game.

What the NRL can learn from the NBA

Funnily enough, even at the NRLs press conference to announce the great media deal the AFL was mentioned numerous times, the fear is evident , the negative articles and comments are everywhere.

But hey, the RL media and fans dont fear or are envious of the AFL.

What the NRL can learn from the NBA

But we aren’t talking about Justin Beiber, we are talking about the supposed Melbourne code getting bigger crowds in Sydney than the supposed Sydney code fiver.

It would be only natural for RL fans in the world home of RL to get jealous and envious, and therefore we see the constant stream of negative comments.

You can deny it, but everyone except of course RL fans can see through it.

What the NRL can learn from the NBA

Could not give a stuff what news limited says or does about RL in Sydney, you stated that Melbourne and Adelaide media are biased against RL, its not true, it is not some orchestrated campaign like it is in Sydney, people just don’t care, there is no code war.

The stories against GWS were and are just bizarre, no such stories or anything remotely close ever surrounded the Storm.

The truth is, much of the RL media and many fans are running a scare campaign against the AFL due to a genuine feeling of insecurity.

What the NRL can learn from the NBA

On reflection, i know why many RL fans are so jealous, envious and full of h ate for the AFL, the Swans Essendon game (fri night) will probably draw more fans at the SCG than 2 pretty high ranking Sydney NRL games on friday night, probably reflective of the reasons why RL fans lash out at the AFL constantly.

When you combine things like Sydney Swans being the biggest football club of any code in Sydney with a membership over 40k and now another club in WS, then it must be very concerning for RL fans seeing their game draw meagre crowds combined with standard appalling RL player behaviour.

What the NRL can learn from the NBA

@ Fiver, the AFL media could not give a flying about RL, however we can add literally hundreds of fear articles from the RL media from Phil Gould, Roy Masters, Josh Massoud etc

Pleae link one anti RL story from a Melbourne AFL journo, just one.

I can start here …http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/nrl/invasion-of-the-sherrin/story-e6frfgbo-1226044662752

Invasion of the Sherrin, but hey you guys aren’t scared.

Hell if the chaser made a joke of it, it must be true then.

What the NRL can learn from the NBA

@ eagle jack, don’t see the irony at all, AFL was mentioned long before i ventured on this thread, the normal suspects who froth at the mouth, fumbleball, point for mising, homophobic names etc bring it all up way before i post.

Truth is the envy, jealousy and h ate seems to go just the one way the vast majority of time, most AFL fans are indifferent to RL, the same can’t be said the other way.

That’s how i see it, i have nothing against RL the game, but i find plenty of people who support the game have plenty against Aussie Rules.

basketball or volleyball either … doomed they are, seriously !.

What the NRL can learn from the NBA

In the above posts i count 4 extremely bitter RL fans, cathar is doubly bitter.

Mention AFL and many NRL fans froth at the mouth.

What the NRL can learn from the NBA

Many but not all RL people have a terrible chip on their shoulder regarding the AFL’s better crowds, better marketing, better grounds, better and more fans, club and membership culture etc, and also of course it is a better game.

Many NRL fans are extremely bitter, when AFL is mentioned, extremely bitter.

Case of jealousy and envy.

Will go straight over the top of goosey brucey, couple of six packs short of a slab is old brucey.

AFL missing its chance to send the game global

Poor Goosey Brucey,

About 4,000 kids play Auskick across Sydney on Saturdays bruce.

There’s a good lad Bruce, run along now.

AFL missing its chance to send the game global

Super classy, hope the injuries are behind him.

Will Higgins live up to his potential at another club?

Poor Bruce, you really are a sad sack.

It will prove almost impossible to build American football from the ground up in other countries, due to the equipment, rules etc, not as hard to build Australian football or Gaelic football which proves far easier for soccer and rugby players to play.

To date Gaelic games were almost always played by Irish expats who chose to keep the games within the expat community, that seems to be changing.

Always a pleasure to prove you wrong.

Poor Bruce

AFL missing its chance to send the game global

Reckon you do plenty of wondering and not much else Brian, still think Cherrybrook Oval and Rofe Park are only used once a fortnight and are empty for the rest of the time, because they don’t have enough junior football teams.

When every measure including annual reports of the clubs and the official fixtures point to you being 100% wrong.

Not to mention your other comment about you could not be bothered … but yet here you are again.

AFL missing its chance to send the game global

More women attend AFL matches than men attending NRL games.

AFL missing its chance to send the game global

So now you take the hun seriously … LOL.
