The north are never going to remove the shot at goal as a penalty option. But a compromise could be the change the point value of a penalty or, probably more effectively, ban the use of the kicking tee. In no other area of the game are you allowed to hold up play in order to retrieve a piece of specialist equipment from outside the field of play. According to the rules you can’t even replace your jersey during play unless it is covered in blood. The forwards can’t replace their boots with longer studs everytime there’s a scrum.

It is essentially the bridge cue from snooker, brought onto a rugby field.

And no sand castles either.

If you want a shot at goal, kick it flat from the ground (as it was originally, before sand was used), or attempt a drop goal. Kick offs have banned the use of the kicking tee, why not penalty goals and conversions?
