I heard Cody Walker interviewed once, where he said that he makes every decision on the spot, never pre-conceived.
The number of times he gets it right is phenomenal, and makes him, for the purists, one of the most watchable players in the game.
Tonight he got one wrong. Let’s not crucify him for that. In another not-too-distant universe, his first-half try would go on to become one of the all-time iconic moments.
Guts, game control and a gift from Cody Walker: Grand Final talking points
From the age of about 11, I became bemused at retrospectives on games that were decided by which side of the upright a ball shaved.
Reynolds kick goes over, and your entire article needs a rewrite. Sorry, that doesn’t make sense to me.
Having said that, I believe Souths were gutsy tonight, Penrith were slightly better overall, and are deserved premiers.
But it’s not quite as black and white as you suggest.

Give me a break. I’m sixty. I’ve seen Souths play one grand final since I was ten.
So no, some fans haven’t had enough.
Most Sydney fans dislike Souffs and Penriff, but they'll still be watching the grand final
Yep, I’m a big fan of Graham’s defence, but last night wasn’t his best. Turbo just strolled past him on one occasion as well.
Errors just kill you: Talking points from South Sydney’s rout of Manly
Well Dessie and Turbo didn’t think they were legitimate tries, so…

Don’t just take off the 14, give the Wallabies the 14 for the two certain tries that the intercepts prevented.
Now it’s 36-all when the siren goes, but the AB’s seal it with a try! What a game, what a thriller, well played AB’s!
Yes I’ve been drinking.
MATCH REPORT: Rennie's Wallabies sent out to go big or die trying - it was the latter
You’re not wrong, more clubs than the Delltones.
My most admired 'enemy' players from around the NRL
My two all-time favourite “enemy” players were actually Phil Blake and Greg Inglis. But they both saw the light mid-career, rendering them ineligible for my list.

Actually I loved O’Connor. Exquisite skills, perfect balance. But I can only picture him in a Wallaby or Origin jumper.

Probs just a quiet night in, sticking pins in my Ken Arthurson doll.
My most admired 'enemy' players from around the NRL
Despite more than 50 years of hating Manly and Saints, two of my favourites were Alan Thompson and Slippery Morris.

The penalty for ball-tampering is five runs. Why on earth are we still beating ourselves up about it three years later?
The other Test nations are loving it.
Aussie Test bowlers release statement on ball tampering rumours
As a Boomer I tend to be highly critical of Boomer mentality, but I think the oldies that contribute here are a pretty reasonable mob overall.
Probs best not to generalise. Be better than Sue.
Fox League's decision to hire Ray Hadley is baffling
Agree except on Andrew Moore. I reckon he’s a cut above the rest of them.

Don’t agree, but good on you for having a crack.
The so-called ‘whingers’ need to be heard
This is appalling. Not a single mitigating factor that I can see, almost criminal in intent.
If the NRL is in any way serious about player safety, this must result in a lengthy suspension.
Sharks forward sin-binned after knocking out opponent with massive hit
Yeah, penalty I reckon. Not a hanging offense though.
Where are all the Latrell haters now?
If you (and the people who liked your post) read up on what “back burning” actually means, you’re going to feel really silly.
Time for sport to realise climate change is its fight, too
With respect, I’m not sure you can dictate to the cricketing public which contests they should focus on. Most of us are more energised by The Ashes, and there are many excellent historical, cricketing and cultural reasons for that.
Indian and Pakistani supporters are greatly energised by their battles, and I’d be reluctant to tell them that there’s anything inappropriate about that.
Strip international cricket from the Gabba
Not sure if you’ve noticed, but there are a huge number of English supporters living in Australia. And a huge number that travel here during an Ashes Summer. That’s obviously nowhere near as true for any of the other cricketing nations.
Do the good burghers of Brisbane really need to hang their heads in shame over that fact?

Point of order Geoff. The Cass / ham sandwich meme is very tired, wholly inaccurate and a little offensive.
Week 5 World Cup reflections: Entering the war zone
Good article, but a fundamental misunderstanding of the “law of averages”!
Law of averages could be a worry for New Zealand
Great article Geoff. I’m heading over on Thursday to watch the two Tokyo quarter-finals. At the time of buying the tickets, the dream match-ups were SA v Japan and NZ v Ire. Well whaddya know?
But there’s only one way that I’ll have an experience to equal yours on Sunday. Go the Blossoms!
The Wrap: Japan’s Blossoms do rugby and their people proud
Thank you for responding to a comment that you obviously didn’t read.
