What you say has some substance to it, if Brisbane was having a good year, it’s crowds would be better, their membership is up this year and their crowds may be as well (god only knows how, considering their woeful record), and the same would go for Sydney.

West Coast crowds have been terrible lately, but we know the reason why, if Freo was down near the bottom of the ladder, WA media would be claiming the death of WA footy on a daily basis.

Crowds are up in VIC, but considering Collingwood is on the march, who is really surprised.

TV ratings are shocking in Sydney, but again who is surprised ATM, what we do know is that it will turn around, and with 2 teams in each of the northern states, there is twice as much chance of a team getting on a roll.

As for some posters suggesting that TV ratings are down because the AFL wont let soccer play on Etihad ….. well, tell e’m their dreaming !!.

Mystery of the vanishing Homebush crowds

Says the same thing every time, gets it off his chest with monotonous regularity.

Melbourne gets a touch of rugby fever

You are exactly right Melanie, it is far easier to promote the Australian game to most other peoples in the world than the “GAYFL” types.

These are the same people who ridicule the sport for only being popular in one country, yet then ridicule it for attempting to grow in foreign markets.

Gabba clash a preview for the Shanghai Showdown

I dont think it’s non AFL people, their are plenty of people who are non AFL people who are OK with this story and idea, it’s actually Australian football knockers, they are the ones comment relentlessly on this subject and similar stories regarding Australian rules footy.

Gabba clash a preview for the Shanghai Showdown

Good piece, dont pay any attention to the Australian football knockers Melanie.

WC will win the spoon, and i hope that Dockers fans let em know about it.

BTW the WC recruitment team have a case of pretty mediocre recruiting to answer for, of course nowhere near the case that Richmond has, but Richmond are the runaway leaders in that league, possibly they won more flags in pathetic recruiting than Collingwood won for spending big money on dud recruits ( pre-draft years).

Who will win the wooden spoon?

Worst game i have ever seen, great cure for insomnia.

Great Escape shouldn't hide St Kilda's problems

If we do not get the world cup, expect Frank to leave the building.

The A-league will hold little interest for Lowy, who will slip quietly into the Gold Coast retirement scene.

The A-league will need quite a few new “Jims Mowing” as sponsors then.

Deals with NRL, AFL may cost us World Cup

Can’t find the story but David King (not AFL player ) but suburban Australian Rules footballer may have a NFL contract as well.

Odds increase for an Aussie Giant in the NFL

I see your point, but as a good business you must use what you have to grow/profit it, and push your competitors as far as possible, if the boot was on the other foot, would you complain or expect different.

Deals with NRL, AFL may cost us World Cup

I consider myself a bit of a sports fan, i have only heard of Mortlock.

Melbourne Storm stripped of premierships

I actually agree with the premise of your article Adam.

Its going to be very hard for rugby to compete as well, dont want to inflame anyone here, but unless rugby gets a bit more flow into its game it will soon be going the same way as what appears to be happening to the Storm.

Is this a case of the NRL retreating into NSW/QLD ?.

Is Melbourne the first victim of the code war?

Probably some News Ltd mole told to look for a way out of the financially draining Storm.

Pretty stiff penalties IMO.

Is Melbourne the first victim of the code war?

Well i see that you have normie, a mere drop in the ocean compared to soccer’s grab for cash.

Lighten up, watch a movie.

So much for the World Cup bid taskforce

” as I never watched Lord of the Rings”

I suspected as much, not suprised really, one of the all time classics, should really do your self a favour Norman.

There's more diving in AFL than football

Well thats great Mike, you watch 8 minutes of AFL football and then write a article called “There’s more diving in AFL than football”.

That 8 minutes sure proves your point.

There's more diving in AFL than football

Kevin Bartlett has wrecked the Richmond culture, the AFL changed the rules to counter him throwing the ball out in front of himself.

But it appears every new player going to Richmond has picked up KB’s habit of throwing the ball away when being tackled.

Why do Richmond bother?

I was there, i counted 23,500, but maybe i double counted some kids.

AFL crowds up, but for how long?

Personally i think Mike is a closet AFL fan, he could have switched the channel to SBS for wall to wall soccer or some obscure fox channel that has some championship game between Botswana and a Martian 11.

If Mike had changed channel he would not need to come up with negative comments such as his very last line “But personally, I’d rather see some so-called “divers” go around than watch another game of Aussie Rules”.

Mike do you understand what a remote is for !!.

There's more diving in AFL than football

I think Mike’s still upset about the article where he was canned IMO quite fairly for this little number ….. World Cup bid makes us truly global citizens.

World Cup bid makes us truly global citizens

Smell the fear Mike.

BTW i have taken a bite at the hook.

There's more diving in AFL than football

Yes good to see that Jim, i should also add that the Lions have been rating pretty well on tele up there, nowhere near the Broncos of course but creating enough of a market that will allow two teams.

Rugby punted to help AFL's GWS push?

Does not get much more mainstream in this country than the AFL website Normie.

2011 a bumper year for AFL International Cup

I actually never needed to get over it, because it never suprised me in the first place.

Australians need to get over the Italian dive of 2006

Nope, i would say his bet was, Bulldogs in front at half time, Lions at full time.

But knowing Fev, its possible that he got it mixed up down the TAB and marked it down the wrong way.

He has made some bad descisions before.

Fevola ends turbulent week on a high

It’s true also that soccer is not considered macho enough in this country, most of the rest of the world was not smart enough to invent their own code or take to the rugby’s in a big way, all they have is soccer.

In this country we have real phsical contact in our football games and not just hacking at someones legs ……. generally speaking of course.

Mindless stereotypes hinder our progress
