I’ve often thought the Brownlow voting should be changed from a “midfielders medal” to something fairer, because as umpires they are exposed to more action in the centre.
What you said about having two independent individuals voting at every game has much merit – something has to change!

I disagree – the end of season bye is one of the best innovations the AFL has made in quite a long time.
It allows teams to have a full compliment of players to choose from and stars to be cherry ripe for the big games.
It’s a long, hard season and most players welcome the break.
It’s unusual for the league to get anything right, but this was one of their best moves.

As I’ve said before (quite a few times) this controversy (and the technology involved) can be fixed simply by a change in scoring rules so that the ball passing between the goal posts is a goal whether it touches anything or not!

I think it’s about time something was done about goal scoring.
