A very sad day for Cricket and Australia. I chose a “Brian Booth” signature bat as a young cricketer in Sydney and not just because I greatly admired him as a cricketer but also out of respect for who he was as man and sportsman. He played the two most elegant shots in cricket- the cover drive and the late cut- as good as those I saw play during that golden era of the game. He was not only a fine cricketer but a true gentleman both on the field and away from the game. Those who seek to know what a true “Christian” looks like and sounds like and acts like will find a very good example in this man. Those who don’t might remember what Kerry O’ Keefe said of him so very well this morning- “in a team of Australia’s best blokes Brian Booth would be in the first XI”. A wonderful and inspiring innings, Brian. Thank you.
