Really !! ……. ” while superstar Israel Folau may also rejoin the Wallabies”.

This comment is everything that is wrong with the wallabies at the moment and i wish the press and gordon bray and everyone else would stop blowing smoke up players behinds. None of our players have a right to this status. Beauden Barrett maybe on current form is the only one playing at the moment who could really claim such a title.

There has been too much focus on individual players in the Wallaby Camp as usual and as always the AB’s focus on the team and will do their level best to keep Barrett grounded – with humility.

I cant understand why a high performing team like this – with all the support / funding / backing is not punished for poor performance and not meeting any KPI’s. Any other high performing team would have been savaged by now for complete non performance and this is not just recent – its over time now. Reality is – if its not working – its not working and unless a radical plan for change is submitted …… nothing will change.

My only solution – like all good actors and musical bands …. we may as well adopt the AB’s as our own!!

The Wrap: A way forward for Australian rugby – how hard can it be?

agree 100% – go back to a proper trial system – the Rugby Version of the State of Origin was originally NSW Rugby Blues v QLD Rugby Red and then an Open Trial against Combined Country or something like that. Many of the current players wont give their left nut for the Jersey, the Pride, The History – just in it for the money and the profile of their personal brand.

For interest have a look at the 15 guiding principles that the ALL Blacks use – No6 is a good one – No d-heads – Whanau First. Attitude First then Talent, Humble – any of the all blacks will sweep out the sheds after a game etc etc etc.

Can Cheika coach, or just motivate?

And if he was a motivator as stated and as others have said then the team would really come out with a head of steam like a good State of Origin Team ready to tear the opposition apart – but thats not happening either.

I dont understand the smugness or arrogance perhaps in not asking for help from Meninga and Co about translating some of that SOO passion to the test arena . We certainly dont seem to play with that kind of passion at the moment.

Others have mentioned fitness – why now is it an issue?? Never really been a problem before or identified as one. Good players / serious players playing first grade and rep footy will always do their own fitness work as well.

The other thing i hear is that Wallaby camp is like a summer holiday & the ARU pay for surfboards and recreational toys to be taken to camp – when the only thing they should be concentrating on is winning rugby.

As 137 odd other comments all pretty much agree and land on the same thing – you have to say again somethings wrong and someone needs to step in urgently and check the progress or whats going to change. Im just waiting for the age old excuse – we are actually building to the next RWC.

What should really happen – no bonus payments until we start winning major Test Matches and that would All Blacks First – then England or Sth Africa.

Can Cheika coach, or just motivate?

From a Commercial Standpoint

“If this was a high performance sales team on large money and bonus at the end of season with qualified team coach and subject matter experts to advise on all aspects of the engagement; with a Senior Leadership Team and Board to advise support and direct along the way – then they all would have been axed by now !!

WHY – because they have consistently failed at the level they are being paid; NO KPI’S met, no big wins , declining revenue and poor margin on sales.

But wait – they are a sales team with exactly that kind of hierarchy behind them – their job is to sell via playing good footy and winning which puts bums on seats and drives revenue.

So taken from a pure business front their should be an external review and enquiry plus a complete audit of the ARU operation.

You could talk for hours about individuals and whether they are up to it but it doesn’t matter – you will never get a complete team of superstars and you always need journey men who can play up and toil away at their jobs as part of a REAL TEAM. After nearly forty years of rugby in Australia and NZ i can see one thing that stands out – they are a team of individuals who do not see each others play in a 2nd guess or sixth sense kind of way. Too much focus on individual heroes with a misplaced loyalty and analysis of there skill. Poster boys or marquee players who seem to get the spotlight which is not good. Too many marketing people blowing smoke up their ar$$ and telling them how good they are and whats good for their personal brand!!

One of the other posts mentioned set play moves or a playbook – we dont have one apparently so the Attacking Subject Matter expert is miserably failing here. If you asked the backs what a “scissors” was – they would all go running to the mirror to look for a pair. Dummies, fakes, switches, loops, running hard to make the extra man for overlap, simple off the back moves like the famous Willie O try worked with half back and breakaway dummy runners.

We could debate for hours but the simple truth is that in 2014 (Mckenzie Coach) we went down by one point again to the AB’s in the Bledisloe match and the Wallabies came off heartbroken and busted, Nic White was halfback for the last half of the game and he looked really sharp so did the team …….., Right now the Wallabies look like a Second Grade team in a hot first grade comp; not sharp, poor skills, poor options (bloody box kicks) no direction, more poor options, reverted to players past their best etc etc.

In relation to player vacuums or available cattle – proportionally to the population there is no real change – League was always popular, Aussie Rules was always big and soccer is now bigger; thats all. If you want new blood then go back to a proper trial system – possibles / probables / and open trial for Combined Country looking for the one off truly individual players with natural skill or mongrel and hardness.

Reality at the moment – keep doing the same things and we will get the same results.

its time for a PAUSE – then PLAN again quickly, CHECK again – ACT quickly and bloody well do it.

Somethings not right and its bloody obvious that things do not gel here in the current regime.
