Last week’s 6, has me on 75 for the year. So I will abdicate my lead by:
– Swans – Rampe is back.
– Bulldogs – bounce from last week and Power due a reality check.
– Lions – Hawks due a reality check.
– Crows – too good for the Eagles.
– Fremantle – at home, close.
– North – due a win, Tassie.
– Carlton – must respond at some point.
– Dees – return of Oliver, Pies played in Perth last weekend.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions Round 13: 350 up for Buddy the brilliant

Unfortunately I suspect lawyers got in the way. In medical complaints there is clear evidence that if the practitioner says sorry to the client/patient who received poor treatment then that person will often feel listened to, understand that a mistake was made and accept that the practitioner did their best. As soon as a lawyer is involved they will say admit nothing. With our legal system saying nothing is the correct thing to do. Hawthorn did the right thing and referred it on to the AFL Integrity unit. The people involved were no longer employees but Hawthorn could have suggested a mediation session probably at a neutral venue (which they may have done). If this had been proposed, the lawyers would have told Clarkson, Fagan and Egan not to go. I hope that they turn up and listen at the Human Rights Commission.

When you look at the player loses, it’s been impossible to build success. If they can keep this team together, then they will progress and stability is important. Dimma was nearly replaced but they placed faith in him and got the reward. I hope Gold Coast do the same.

The Suns don't need Dimma - they've already got the best man for the job

Casey Demons were VFL Premiers last year. That’s usually a sign of depth.

Melbourne are no longer a great team - they are just bog average

11.11; 22 scoring shots vs 6.15; 21 plus an out on the full – sorry Michael Voss but I don’t think inaccuracy cost you the game.

Footy Fix: This is the man who can turn the Swans' biggest weakness into a season-saving strength

Melican was crucial. He had been out injured but I think he was available a couple of weeks ago. I suspect despite Rampe, McCartin and McCartin being out injured, he did not get a game till this week due to lack of match fitness.

Footy Fix: This is the man who can turn the Swans' biggest weakness into a season-saving strength

Problem is we already divide by race. Indigenous people are predominantly poor. Government taxes the rich more and distributes most of that to the disadvantaged. Do you support that?

Should Australian sport be raising its voice?

I’m tipping the Dogs but that cake of soap comment has me thinking. 31, sun, no rain expected today and tomorrow. 59% humidity now but the dew and heat give the Suns an advantage. Not enough.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions Round 11: Why this could be the weekend of upsets

I haven’t watched many Dockers’ games this year. As noted by others the Swans defense was the main story with poor ball movement causing all sorts of problems for the midfield that lost Mills early. Freo lifted all over the ground. Darcy is phenomenal. I was really impressed by the back line who didn’t have to deal with that many inside 50s but looked much more like a couple of years ago when they were one of the toughest defenses to score against. I wasn’t too convinced by those writing off Freo this year as I thought they lost quite a few regular players and they are adjusting to those loses and the new players. That idea will be put to the test over the next month or so.

Footy Fix: From the big dance to disaster in ten games - understanding the Swans' almighty fall from grace

Is the SCG “small”? The Gabba (78 metres) and SCG (77.75) are only marginally shorter in length to the MCG (80) from the goal line to the centre circle. See the abc news afl-analysis-how-much-do-ground-sizes-matter/101154950

Footy Fix: From the big dance to disaster in ten games - understanding the Swans' almighty fall from grace

AFL builds the Dome – Gather round in Darwin. They could make some money out of that.

Welcome Tasmania, but the AFL should be a 16-team competition so three clubs must go

Retire over 30s, play the kids is true sometimes but overall wrong. Modern sports science creates more longevity while the modern game is probably more demanding and thereby shortening careers. There’s some players people are saying should have retired at the end of last year but that is probably always going to happen, they don’t know until they know (the player and the management). Meanwhile the oldest team won the flag which is usually one of the strongest predictors. There was a comment from the Cats – Swans game, boys playing men which was so right – younger smaller players against experienced larger men don’t stand much of a chance.

Six Points: We need to change thinking on dangerous tackles, and why Duncan is the AFL's luckiest man

Boys playing men, indeed. The Cats could do no wrong – everything went right, just like the GF. There’s no one else coming close when they put it all together like that. No Swan bet their opponent, IMO. There was a comment that they may have had a very heavy training load in the first few week which made a lot of sense to me. The only hope for anyone is that some complacency sets in or maybe some injuries.

Footy Fix: The Cats are back - but the Swans made it embarrassingly easy. Again

I think this is the toughest game to tip this week, I’m going the Dogs. The Dogs have a problem defending against tall forwards – Freo have an inexperienced Amiss and Luke Jackson who is really a ruckman. The Dogs have Keath back from injury so him and Jones should beat Amiss and Jackson. Schulz is possibly in career best form but I think the Dogs can cover the mosquito fleet if the midfield get back to help. At the other end, Freo’s defenders are horribly out of form. Freo were amazing last year when they took risk and moved the ball fast. They seem to be doing that for about 20 minutes per game this year. If that is the case tonight and the Dog’s midfield are running both ways, Dogs win.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions Round 6: Who will claim the spoils in Anzac Round?

Did the Crows get a good deal for Jordan Dawson? Shouldn’t pick 17 have gone to the Swans as part of a fairer trade for Dawson on top of what the Swans got?

Michalanney’s a good player and that coming off his player illustrates that really well.

Something else to crow about: Son of a Gun is the Round 5 Rising Star Nominee

Freo have the best list in the competition. Sorry I’m not Don. Happy?

Footy Fix: Don't let the comeback fool you, Freo have been worked out

I thought the ground looked great. Very early start and yet they got a good crowd. I think the AFL would be happy if they can get that crowd at a suburban ground in Adelaide with those teams. I watched about five minutes in the third quarter and then ten at the end. There is progress with the Suns and I thought Freo would step back a bit this year with their losses in trading. What I watched was quite entertaining football.

Footy Fix: Don't let the comeback fool you, Freo have been worked out

Re the McCartin incident, the tackler had an arm around this leg and drove him forward and down. In rugby league this is called a spear tackle and severely penalized.

Six Points: Finlayson deserved better than awful question, and the Swans who stuffed up in crazy finish

There were quite a few kicks getting affected by the wind particularly at that end. He was kicking north west into a reasonably strong westerly breeze.

Six Points: Finlayson deserved better than awful question, and the Swans who stuffed up in crazy finish

When the Swans lost the McCartin brothers in the first quarter, Port’s chances went up a great deal. When the Swans continue kicking high to Buddy when Allir is playing on him, you are wasting inside 50s. When the opposition have an interceptor like Allir or May or Stewart, kick it somewhere else.

Six Points: Finlayson deserved better than awful question, and the Swans who stuffed up in crazy finish

Good summary. North have more talent than many credit but no match up for tall forwards tonight. A commentator said something about McKay having a 25 kg advantage.

Footy Fix: This record stat shows how Blues butchered the Roos - but why did it take a half to try it?

and 11.17 below average… bad kicking is bad football!

Centre clearances were 12:15 but where the Ruck made a big difference was at stoppages 34:22. McInerney took the ball and kicked it forward quite a few times. Still the Pies won inside 50s, 54:57 so did it help?

So kicking straight probably was the number one factor. It would be interesting to see where the scoring shots came from. Memory says the Pies scoring shots were from more difficult positions but not sure if that should have made as much difference.

Footy Fix: Lethal Lions unlock the Pies... but it was easier said than done

His job is to keep people watching even when it makes him sound foolish.

Footy Fix: Lethal Lions unlock the Pies... but it was easier said than done

Especially if you have ducker Hunter dropping his knees to draw an in the back free kick then Will Hayward should probably only get a warning.

AFL News: Head of umpiring responds to dissent rule controversy as Blues star urges players to 'shut our mouths'

I think you might be the one overrating the Dogs and underrating the Lions.

Also, I thought the commentary was highly biased toward the Dogs to the point of being very annoying and I would have liked the Lions to get ahead just to hear their backtracking.

Beveridge out-coached Fagan. Or, was it just that after two losses, the Dogs were fired up (their season on the line). I thought the Lions would be top 4 and pushing for a flag this year but after that terrible game doubt they can win the flag with Fagan.

Footy Fix: Jamarra's Dogs played with nothing but heart - shame the Lions left theirs at the Gabba
