Different scenario with Milford and Leilua. It was reasonable to charge both of them. The reason the charges were dropped in Leilua’s case was a lack of cooperation from the victim.

The DPP had the CCTV footage before it went to court. There is clearly a cultural problem in that office.

The closest equivalent in the ACT to an American style district attorney would be the Director of Public Prosecutions, and they’ve already had one of them resign in disgrace earlier this year.

There is clearly a real problem in the ACT DPP. Complete clown show.

'A traumatic experience': Latrell relieved after brawling charges with Wighton thrown out of court

It’s what they do in the ACT. For example they didn’t let Higgins see the footage of her and Lehrmann entering Parliament House.

In my view this case should never have been brought.

'A traumatic experience': Latrell relieved after brawling charges with Wighton thrown out of court

That’s actually standard practice. Doing so contaminates the witness.

Prosecutors and investigators don’t let a witness or complainant watch video footage of the incident they say they were an eye witness too because the defence lawyers will just say that they have tailored their evidence to fit the video footage.

It’s best practice. So it’s actually surprising that the ACT police and prosecutors adhered to it.

I’m sure this was a one off incident. A million to one instance of memory failure by a hero policeman. Hopefully tomorrow he can go back to once again performing his duties and providing accurate and truthful sworn evidence like he always does except for this one time.

It’s purely a coincidence that it was exposed came to light in circumstances where the defendants were both multi millionaires who could afford proper legal representation. Lucky this completely unfortunate, never before seen and never to be repeated, one off event didn’t happen to an ordinary member of the public who couldn’t afford to fight the charges!

Not good for a rugby player, but professional fighters organise their life around cutting weight like that. Tim Tszyu loses a similar amount of weight for fights. Volk would have regained about 5kgs by the time of the fight.

Having said that – having only 11 days to prepare for the fight and having to cut that much weight at the same time would have made for really poor preparation.

'Real champion': Makhachev praises Volkanovski after inflicting brutal KO in Aussie's last-minute UFC call-up

There is so much to like about Tim Tszyu as a boxer. Highly active, seeks out credible opponents, doesn’t duck hard fights. Just enough trash talk to promote a fight without being a tool.

If all other boxers conducted their business like he does, boxing would be way more legitimate as a competitive sport.

'Charlo, where you at?': Tszyu calls out Jermell after masterful Mendoza takedown in epic Australian boxing farewell

There is a lot to be said for cohesion obviously, but it doesn’t explain scenarios where:
1. 1995 where a brand new team of lesser quality Queensland players with little experience playing together beat a more cohesive, better quality NSW side 3 nil; or
2. The last 2 state of origin series where NSW notably selected all those Panthers players in order to take advantage of their experience playing together.

Underrated as a player, Walters doing likewise in coaching by stepping out of Wayne’s shadow to revive Broncos

Or for that matter – why even have a coach at all if the best they can possibly do is make the players play at their natural level?

The reason he doesn’t have to manage down or outward is because he has achieved success.

But let’s not forget that there was a tonne of scrutiny over his appointment, even to the point that most of the media including half the writers on this website were pointing to him as one of the coaches most likely to get sacked mid season despite having overseen a massive improvement in 2022.

Well that’s 2 successful seasons then. Last season he improved their ladder position by 5 places, this season he improved them by another 7 places.

It was annoying how Gamble’s comments were reported with a negative slant as a dig against Walters. They weren’t at all disrespectful and were completely reasonable. Really poor reporting by the media.

I like Ben Darwin’s work, but that particular statement of a coach not being able to make a team work better than the some of their parts, only worse, is is faulty.

State of Origin has proved that repeatedly over 40 years.

You don’t think that improving a team’s ladder position by 5 places is successful coaching?

Literally every single player in the team is playing better under him than they were before he arrived.

He took a wooden spoon team to 14th, then 9th, then a grand final. Any coach would be proud of that kind of progress.

Kensuke Iwabuchi: Eddie Sama, the job is yours. When can you start.
Eddie Jones: I’d love to start before the end of the year. I’ve just got to work out a way to get fired from this gig first…

'Don’t know what you’re talking about': Jones denies wanting to quit Wallabies, throws a strop when asked about it

I saw Eddie Jones at an IGA in Milton when he was coaching the Reds. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a tool and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Cobbo didn’t get binned because he didn’t tackle him when he was in a try scoring position. An early tackle is just a penalty.

'The forward pass was so wrong it wasn’t funny': Did a refereeing 'howler' cost the Warriors?

DWZ was offside when he made that intercept, so it evened out.

Well, DWZ only made that intercept because he was offside (watch the replay – he was 2 metres offside), so the score shouldn’t have been as close as it was when Walsh passed the ball forward anyway.

If the Broncos had lost the game, that’s what people would be talking about.

He’s actually a half that has been converted into a hooker, so it’s probably more natural for him to run. Also the reason why he started out so poorly and has improved – he was learning on the job.
