Apart from Banks who looks quick to me are there actually any genuine speedsters in frame for selection? I’d hazard a guess that Hooper might actually be the second fastest runner in the team?

Tom Banks, Nic White named to start as Wallabies side to play South Africa is revealed

Slowest wingers in world rugby but both can kick so I’m expecting more of a positional game. Forwards look ok considering injuries.

On my way to Mumbai for a nightmare 2 weeks of dental work. I comforted myself I’d be there for the spectacle of India vs Australia…wait New Zealand vs Australia…wait New Zealand vs England…

Australia smashed by England in horrendous end to World Cup campaign

Wrote a long and tedious pinot fuelled summary of my feelings about this game ( I loved it) but accidentally deleted it when the whiskey came out… but the best thing I can remember writing is that the wallabies would be world class if they had Peronara and M’oanga in the team..and that they are not first choice for the ABs speaks volumes.

Crusaders hold off Hurricanes in thrilling Super Rugby semi-final

Hmmm. Is this where David Pocock miraculously returns to the brumbies team to replace Samu?

Nine talking points from the Super Rugby quarter-finals

Rugby Australia is damned either way but this article does nothing but pour gasoline on the fire. I’m only surprised you didn’t use ” witch hunt ” in the heading.

Israel Folau has been unfairly hounded out of Australian rugby

I’d sack Folau purely because he doesnt seem to give a f..k about the Wallabies or the Waratahs. He makes incendiary comments that damn half the population of Australia, knowing full well that he is causing hurt and harm and then disappears overseas and refuses to take calls from the people who he’s harming . Who also just happen to pay him over a million dollars a year. Sack him for rudeness and disloyalty if nothing else.

Israel Folau does not deserve the sack

Jesus wept.

Folau slammed over anti-gay comments

This is all symptomatic of the general malaise of Australian sport. Cricket, rugby, tennis, football, the Olympics. It’s all going backwards. We are struggling to find people who want to play let alone coach. It’s hard for both players and coaches both when the ambition of the supporting public far outweighs the talent available.
For those who are suffering I recommend you follow golf ,where we always seem to be able to play competitively on the world stage.

By dumping Larkham, the Wallabies have been Cheika-mated

Another great article Nick. Starting to look forward to the rugby season again ( 6 nations should be fantastic )although truth be told as a wallaby and NSW supporter it nay be very short lived.
This Hooper conundrum I find exhausting. No matter how many experts and opposition coaches rave about him, no matter how many opposition fans tell me that they wish he were in their team, no matter how many awards he wins he still divides opinion. For my part, I reckon that if we had 15 Hoopers i think we would still have a better team than we have now.

Why rugby is moving towards league

Terrible player management by CA. Should’ve been advised to say nothing. Who’s idea was it for Bancroft to be interviewed in a muscle shirt?? Obviously very little thought went into his decision.

It’s time for Warner to come out from the bus under which he was thrown

Going on international cricket blogs one of the major accusations pointed at Australian cricket is that we are flat track bullies and only bat well on our lifeless homegrown pitches. If this is the case I would have thought that our shield batsmen should be averaging significantly more as they only play on these pitches exclusively. Meaning they must be worse than we think. Which is depressing.

Langer a busy man, but not nearly as busy as his assistants should be…

Foley at 12 for starters. Beale out of form. Too much dependence on Genia. Little creativity from set piece. Slow wingers and too many moving parts as you highlighted in your article a few weeks ago. Other than that we are right where we need to be!

All is not lost: Four quick fixes for the Wallabies forwards

Thanks Nick. It’s nice to finish the year on something positive. Clearly I think that our forwards are not far off the mark but I fear that our problems remain in the backs. Which is ironic because for years it was our forwards and set piece that were questioned and our backs that were feared.

All is not lost: Four quick fixes for the Wallabies forwards

I assume that the decision to keep Cheika is based entirely on the financial cost of paying him out. The wallabies just can’t keep paying people not to work. If this is the case then I suspect replacing his assistants is the only way to go. We really miss Ledesma most if all.I would be happy if we went into next year’s world cup being great at just one thing as there isn’t enough time to fix all our incompetences. A big powerful pack with an excellent set piece. It won’t be enough to win the world cup but at least we won’t be humiliated.

England loss confirms Wallabies are no closer to RWC success

What’s most worrying is the knowledge that we have a better chance of kicking a penalty from out wide than winning our own lineout! Also I watched the game again last night and for the life of me couldn’t see what the game ending penalty was for.

Lost: Wallabies’ game management nous

I’m not so fussed about AAC joining the training camp. After all he is living in Japan not Europe and it’s a chance for Cheika to evaluate him and let him know where he stands, for better or worse. However I do find myself frantically scanning through the selections whenever they’re put out for just one name. Hannigan. As soon as I see it , I kick the cat and head to the pub safe in the knowledge that another series has been successfully lost.

Michael Cheika’s biggest Spring Tour questions

Can’t help but wonder if this is not the other side of ” player power”.
If Mackenzie can be got rid of by the players, surely Cheika can be retained by them?

Why Rugby Australia are sticking with Cheika, and why we have more pain to endure
