Long term 'glass half full' rugby fan - Wallabies, Wallaroos, Tahs, Marlins + 7s

The Tahs put in a good defensive shift. But as for scoring points, I recall Benny Darwin saying the alternate strip seems to usually impact teams’ attack, maybe we can blame the pink strip then.

'Philosophical, disappointed but excited': Tahs lose another nail-biter as wasteful Blues hang on to make it 10 straight

Don’t disagree. Investment is vital to the women’s game, I just think there isn’t the funds to invest further unfortunately. Not sure the reason for double headers fro the Wallaroos am guessing it is a cost issue. If they are paying for the venue already why not have 2 games. The bit that irritates me I most is doing it on a Friday, who can get to a game at 5pm on a Friday.

Super Rugby Women's 2024 kickoff: Mass player turnover means there's no time to waste for teams to get it right

Home & Away = $$, we don’t have. Unfortunately. Also guessing by making most of the games as double headers is more efficient from the broadcasters perspective too. It always comes down to $$$.

Really, that is disappointing. She was a player I saw a couple of times last season & thought she looked to have the goods.

I’m sure there will be joining with Aupiki at some stage. As you say the Kiwis teams would belt the Aussie teams at the moment. As Interim I would like to see maybe the top 2 from both comps have some sort of play offs. Eventually maybe top 2 from Oz, NZ & Japan. Also currently do wonder if RA’s limited funds is putting on a constraint on combining the 2 competitions.

Correction, Rebels captain is Ash Marsters, Mel Kawa had stepped into the Super Rugby captain promos as Ash was still in France.

I imagine the Tahs are a tad annoyed going out in the semi final last season & will come out all guns blazing. Also they are fortunate to have had stability in their squad.

Should be a big year for the women this year. Always interesting to see which new players may pop up.

'Established names meet blossoming pathways' - Ten reasons we’re pumped Super Rugby Women’s is back

In reality players leaving is no surprise. It sounds like a lot of players have lost trust in RA, especially after Rennie being punted, then Eddie leaving, you wouldn’t have much confidence in the organisation & how it operates.

Just great

The Wrap: The two massive power shifts shaping Australian and New Zealand rugby

Well at least the on field has been enjoyable, off field continues to be an utter disaster. As more comes to light, the more astonished I become.

The Wrap: The two massive power shifts shaping Australian and New Zealand rugby

The crowd was right into the match, it’s been awhile since I have heard such an enthusiastic crowd at a Tahs match. So the loss is disappointing. While the 2 missed penalty goals were significant in reality the Tahs had enough ball at the right end of the field to score points & didnt. Next week a tough game against the Blues, should be a good crowd Sydney has a lot of Blues supporters. Plus it’s a double header with the Super W game on.

'Gutted': Edmed misses shot after siren as Tahs blow chance of going back-to-back against Kiwis for first time since 2015

I just really, really, really want the Tahs to win. We are going to head out to the game also the Tahs owe us a win from last seasons last game loss against Moana.

ANALYSIS: Battle for the gain-line to decide if ‘Tah tough’ Waratahs can go back-to-back against Kiwi teams

No, both Rebels & RA have been irresponsible to get to that level of debt. Even if ATO/stadium fees are paid there is still the issue of having the finances for the organisation to be a going concern. Also how did the Rebels think getting Salakaia-Loto, for $600k with no RA top up was an appropriate decision. In saying all that I would like the Rebels to remain, the question is, is it financially viable when RA is completely broke.

Waugh reveals shocking $2.6 million unapproved budget blowout on Eddie Jones' World Cup debacle

Considering the financial state of the Rebels, Tahs & RA generally an overspend of $2M+ should not be a surprise at all. Fiscal irresponsibility seems to be a rugby trait (except QLD who seem to have finally got it together).

While pretty indifferent to the selecting overseas players, it seems operating like the Socceroos may be the future for no other reason than RA is so broke. More & more players are going to head overseas as they are professional sports people & want to earn the most money they can in a career. You can’t blame them for that. The catch 22 is that you need Super Rugby being reasonably competitive so players can showcase themselves.

'Fighting with one hand tied': To'omua calls on Rugby Australia to 'pick best Wallabies team' to stop international slide

Have always been a Hannigan supporter, mainly I think because he is a lad from the land. (Ranch????). Great to see he has hung in there & developed into a quality player.
Was wondering if Edmed maybe a Schmidt style of 10. Not related but loved the Harry Wilson try, got through the line, Nawaqanitawase was on the inside & you would expect would get the ball but Edmed went outside to Wilson.

Jed, Ned and Tane Edmed: The direction Joe Schmidt should head to put Eddie era to bed

Have to agree, I don’t have a problem with draws. A draw just brings out a different emotion, even if that is disappointment or frustration that there wasn’t a result. That’s sport.

'Let's see what the worst thing about rugby league is and do that': Loathsome blight union never needed

It’s great the opportunity Australia provides for so many Kiwis, just saw Neil Finn promoting a new album, a Kiwi who got his break and career from Australia. How good, Australia for a lot of Kiwis is the land of opportunity.

New Zealand smash Australia in Los Angeles sevens final as card issues haunt Levi again

To be honest expected the Kiwis to win the final even if Maddi Levi wasn’t yellow carded, the women are missing some significant fire power in Terita & Lefau-Fakaosilea. As for the men it was an improvement on Vancouver, will be better when Longbottom returns.

Obviously as a Tahs fan we have to revel in the win over the Crusaders for a few days but must back it up against the Highlanders. Thought the Tahs centres performed very well. With the ongoing chat about who is the best 10 at the moment or who should be 10 for the Wallabies, the question I have which of the 10s suits how Schmidt is likely to coach.

Five things we learned: The general who caught Schmidt's eye, why next week is vital for Coleman's Tahs

With the way Tahs management have operated over the last 10 years it’s not surprising that they continue to just damage the Tahs brand & overall operations. Am guessing they ie Tahs & RA management have someone already lined up.
