Great point about the crowds, it seems no one wants to talk about them but they do matter. Just like the administrator pointed out in the rebels report.

Five surprises, five disappointments and five things to figure out as Super Rugby 2024 reaches the end game

Yeah you only need to look at the Good friday games to see the story Toa, SRP was at a brand new world class stadium with easy access, between Australias two biggest cities and it got 11k. The NRL was at the olympic stadium, which is so hard to get to and universally hated by everyone and it was essentially two suburbs of Sydney Playing each other, yet 30k show up, Super Rugby HAD to sell that game out!

'Curse the money all you want' but RA must work out what it wants from Super Rugby - otherwise the game is doomed

He’s a great player and RA obviously feel they can afford after selling all of those Lions tickets in one day.

Wonder kid offered 3-yr, $1.6m deal to stay in Aussie rugby - and why it could see Wallabies stars leave Ballymore

Did they really spend over 21million on a tour to France? That just seems absurd, aren’t things like the flights comped by a Qantas sponsorship?

'Everything was approved': Eddie hits back at $2.6m RWC budget blow-out, says Wallabies can build team around young gun

Because the NRL and its bigger clubs will have skin in the game, the better they play, the more people watch the more money they get.
For evry nathan Cleary at the Panthers, 3 miss out. For every Pat Carrigan at the Broncos 3 miss out, these players will now be playing Super Rugby not Q cup and winning that comp.

Fantasy footy: How a Rugby Australia and NRL partnership could actually work

If I’m on the NRL payroll I can tell you they are behind in a few payments.

Fantasy footy: How a Rugby Australia and NRL partnership could actually work

Yes and pocketing the broadcast revenue.

Fantasy footy: How a Rugby Australia and NRL partnership could actually work

The NRL isn’t beating union in every metric in Australia because union is poorly marketed and RA don’t make their 2Metre locks superstars. It’s being beaten because the NRL is an excellent competition full of superstars and unique characters. Your disdain for league and your union snobbery prevent you from seeing that.

'Destroyed the soul of rugby': Ex-NZR boss delivers damning verdict of Super direction - and his plan to fix it

Thank you and I appreciate you answering this question, I still have concerns about how the Roar can state 15million in one article and 20 in another? Don’t rebels fans deserve clarity from the press, club and governing body?

Wallaby signs with English giants in new setback for reeling Rebels

I thought the Roar understood the debt level to be closer to 15 Million? Is it at all possible for any of you journalists to pick up the phone and ask RA what the exact amount is, because as fans we are starting to get frustrated at the amount of lies being told. Do your job and hold them to account!

Wallaby signs with English giants in new setback for reeling Rebels

Due to the current economic situation everyone has to bring their own plate of food.

Koroibete in mix to join exclusive club as Rugby Australia prepares for night of nights

Fair point, he is recognisable. He was even the face of the ad campaign for the England series, but he doesn’t sell, Reds crowds have actually gone down over recent years.

Decision time: Clubs queuing up to pounce on Rebels' best as Rugby Australia given warning over in demand Wallabies

Yeah exactly right,

Decision time: Clubs queuing up to pounce on Rebels' best as Rugby Australia given warning over in demand Wallabies

I’m not talking about winning, which they aren’t doing either. I’m talking about selling tickets. The Panthers have sold their membership allocation for this year, the Rebels have not, the Panthers make a 7 figure profit without leagues club grants, the rebels are 8 mill in the hole. Cleary is a big deal Tupou is not.

Decision time: Clubs queuing up to pounce on Rebels' best as Rugby Australia given warning over in demand Wallabies

Tupou doesn’t sell tickets or win games, Rugby in Australia needs to stop worrying about the Wallabies for 5 minutes (look at the MCG last year, they’ll be fine) and actually focus on selling out Super Rugby games and start making money. Another 15 000 tix sold each week will basically soet the rebels tax problem and also make the broadcaster happy. The reason the NRL makes money because people care about it, RA need to make people care their competition nothing else.

Decision time: Clubs queuing up to pounce on Rebels' best as Rugby Australia given warning over in demand Wallabies

And they’ll get it for a song again, because it’s is a poor product that isn’t very valuable.

CONFIRMED: Rebels fall into voluntary administration as Rugby Australia seeks 'sustainable and successful future'

How will the broadcast deal be higher? The main piece of content Super Rugby is a comp nobody cares about.

CONFIRMED: Rebels fall into voluntary administration as Rugby Australia seeks 'sustainable and successful future'

That’s actually not a bad idea, as a long term candidate who makes millions for the venue if the rebels got absorbed by the Storm they would probably go close to forgiving the stadium debt. play as the Melbourne Storm IV and let them take care of the SRP operating costs.

Weren’t you one of the journalists bagging out Rennie for being too silent and not putting the game out there enough?
And now you say it’s a good thing?

Chasing stability over pipedreams and rent-a-quotes - why RA chose an 'Ordinary Joe' to move on from Eddie as Wallabies coach

How does a sport with some of the wealthiest backers in the country find itself in a position where it has to borrow $60 Million dollars?

Cash-strapped Rugby Australia sign $80m debt deal to help give game second life ahead of Lions, World Cups

I disagree, at present Rugby only elevates the national team and test Rugby, and the brand is weak and the game is broke. They need to learn off the other codes and have an engaging exciting domestic competition to compliment test Rugby, which is still one of the biggest shows in Australia.

'Game has spent more than we can afford': RA rules out any more Suaalii-like raids on NRL in major U-turn

This is such an elitist comment, yes RL and AFL are domestic but Australians love it. Why don’t RA start listening to their potential customers and build an engaging domestic competition rather than telling young players and fans how insular they are?1

'Game has spent more than we can afford': RA rules out any more Suaalii-like raids on NRL in major U-turn

You forgot to add how the flames were fanned by journalists like yourself Christy.

'Game has spent more than we can afford': RA rules out any more Suaalii-like raids on NRL in major U-turn

The NRL is just another Rugby competition, US fans don’t care that there is two codes. They will come and have a look if it’s marketed right.

Las Vegas gamble a high-risk, low-reward play by NRL … the US couldn’t care less about your funny little game

Great article Paul, how dare a billion dollar competition try to expand into an exciting new market.
It should be law that RL is only ever played in Eastern Australia and the North of England.
