There have been several problems for Laurie Daley heading into this year's State Of Origin series. Injuries have clearly been one of the main…
Round 1 of the 2014 NRL season is now complete and the rugby league community is in uproar over the embarrassingly low attendance figures…
It was an expression, and like many expressions, not mean’t to be taken as 100% scientifically proven historical fact…
Christ, why are so many on this site so overly-defensive and melodramatic

Well said. I respect Brett Stewart’s talent greatly…but Hayne has been on another planet this season. It’s true you could put Hayne anywhere and he’d do good, but he couldn’t lead the team’s attack the way he did in Game One in any position except Fullback.
I said it going into Origin One…he can’t do it on his own, but the overall big picture, NSW will go as far in this series as Jarryd Hayne is capable of taking them.

Brett Mullin’s put in some great performances for NSW on the Wing.

Inglis is still wearing a moon-boot….he’s a chance of playing, but it mostly sounds like wishful thinking. If he does play, he will be far from 100%. That kind of ankle injury won’t just magically heal.

You expected it to get smashed…remember that.
I cannot label Daley’s decisions to play Dugan in the centres a ‘mega blunder’ until I actually see what happens next Wednesday. Until then, it is a gamble/risk, but not yet a blunder…none of us have a crystal-ball.
I DO agree about the off-field issues however. I can only hope Dugan has GROWN UP a bit, and no longer considers origin-selection itself to be something to celebrate. I wrote an article myself about this issue several weeks ago…

Believe me, I don’t value much of what Tallis says…point being, there was a consensus that Reynolds and Hodkinson would be overwhelmed by the pressure and occasion of Origin One…they weren’t. J. Thurston (who’s opinion I do respect) even spoke out to media about how the ‘rookie blues’ halves wouldn’t be able to handle ‘the heat’.
Daley took a risk putting an Origin rookie in the #7 jersey for game one…and he’s taking a risk putting Dugan in the centres for game 2. Daley’s gamble paid off in game one, whether or not his risk for game two pays off, we will find out next wednesday, but I believe Daley should be given the benefit of the doubt for now. If he’s wrong, i’m sure he will be let know it if the time comes.

I heard many people claiming it was a ‘mistake’….and those people were wrong

I don’t doubt nobody wanted Pearce again…but even Gordon Tallis was cracking jokes during the pre-game of Origin One about how much ‘nerves and pressure’ would be affecting the young blues halves.
From what I read, saw and heard…the selection of Hodkinson and Reynolds was seen as a massive gamble going into Suncorp…but it worked. Hence, I feel we should give Laurie the benefit of the doubt in regards to the gamble he is taking heading into ANZ.
P.S. Go the Eels!

Strong chance GI will not be playing…and if he does, he will be far from 100%

I thought picking rookie halves Reynolds and Hodkinson for Game One was ‘one of the worst decisions the Blues ever made’? Considering what Daley’s ‘No Chance’ Blues pulled off a few weeks ago, maybe we should give Laurie the benefit of the doubt this time around.

Did you miss Gallen’s colossal performances for NSW at Prop in the past??

Got it right for game one? Did you not read the articles on here in the run-in to game one? Everyone said Daley lost the plot picking Reynolds and Hodkinson

I remember a few weeks ago, all and sundry saying Daley was making a ‘big mistake’ picking Reynolds and Hodkinson for Game One at Suncorp….considering what the ‘no chance’ Blues pulled off in Game One, maybe we should give Laurie the benefit of the doubt this time.

Queensland would find a spot for Jarryd Hayne

Being selected to play for NSW should be seen as an OPPORTUNITY, not an achievement itself.

Beating Queensland would be the achievement.

As you wish.
I don’t feel I’m hitting a panic button by suggesting the NRL could do more, even small things, to encourage fan attendance. The game is not in crisis, it will survive. But why survive when you can attempt to strive.
Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away
I mean’t i’m happy to allow others to express there own opinion etc.
You’ve got a good sense of humour
