Ask any journalist who has spent time with LeBron. Even his biggest critic/hater Skip Bayless has openly said that he cannot fault LeBron’s CHARACTER

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

The Origin scheduling issue is open for debate. Personally, I’d have Origin games on a stand alone weekend. But thats just me.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

Regarding the biff, that’s an endless debate. I accept your view on it however. I can assure you, I am not a “Reg Reagon”.

The players kicking signed team footballs into the crowd at home games won’t cost much will it? So why NOT do it? It’s a small thing, but the NRL should be doing everything it can to encourage punters to turn up. Instead of asking why, WHY NOT? There’s no reason not to. It’s a small thing, but would add just a little more to fan experience at games.

I agree, it’s not an easy issue to address. That’s why I said my suggestions are open to debate.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

I agree. But fact is, many do now perceive as having ‘gone soft’..and for many of the masses, perception is their reality.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

I care a great deal about the NRL and want it to succeed as much as possible. That’s why I made suggestions that MIGHT help increase fan-attendance and public interest.

I don’t think taking a public shot at the Daily Telegraph the way I did in the article is the way to ask for a job with them.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

The NRL are doing some things right…but it could be doing a lot of other things better. The article wasn’t about revenue and management, it was about how the NRL might try to increase fan-attendance, public interest and perhaps better present itself.

As I said, I’ve lost count of the amount of people who I have encountered who have turned away from the game as they perceive it to have been ‘softened-up’. Those people may very well be wrong, but for many, perception is reality.

I actually took a shot at the ‘Daily Terrorgraph’ in the article…hacks like Phil Rothfield have no conviction in their views, they sway every week with the current feeling. Unlike the Tele, I openly said that my suggestions are open for debate, rather than proclaiming my ideas as the gospel. As I said should someone like yourself dismiss them, I’ll take it on the chin.

Believe me, I want the NRL to succeed as much as possible.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

I might have, if I actually followed and cared about the A-League. On the other hand, I care about the NRL and want to see it prosper as much as possible. And I feel it could be doing more, even some small things, in an attempt to increase it’s appeal to the masses.

Although I don’t follow the A-League, it’s obvious the league and “soccer” itself is on the rise in this country.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

So because I follow the English Premier League, that gives me no right to express views about Rugby League…a game I have followed for over 20 years and played as a youngster. Rather small minded and petty don’t you think?

I follow numerous sports and teams.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

It’s up to the fans to turn up?….it’s not up to the NRL to perhaps try some things to entice them to turn up in greater numbers?

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

I never said the code was in crisis. I’ve implied that it’s stagnant.

I have no desire to ‘kick the game’. On the contrary, I want the NRL to succeed as much as possible.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

Robert Lui should never have been allowed to take the field again.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

I don’t think the game is ‘soft’…but many others do now perceive it to be so. For many, perception is reality.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

By all means, keep burying your head in the sand.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

If the AFL drew the kind of crowds the NRL did this past weekend, they would be in hysterics.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

Okay, so the NRL should do nothing, just keep lumbering on.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

Read the article again.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

You must have missed the part where I said any form of dangerous contact with a player’s head should result in hefty punishment. A clean shoulder-hit on the other hand, does not deserve to be penalised.

That wasn’t a ‘punch’.

LeBron James may have angered some fans with his decision to leave Cleveland for Miami, but as far as legal or personal trouble off the court, there has been none of it.

Okay, we’ll just keep watching stars of the game leave for other codes and won’t do anything to attempt to change it.

The crowd at the Bulldog’s/Broncos game this round was pathetic.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

Low-attendance has been a problem for the NRL for years…not just Round One of this season. Round One’s attendance merely hammered the point home stronger than ever.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

Did you not watch Lebron’s pitiful performance in the 2011 NBA finals? LeBron has failed to deliver on several occasions…but remains a star. Ditto Hayne.

Fair call.

Indeed.

Agree.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

Yes, really.

Dear NRL, this is why the fans are walking away

That’s a valid point, one I omitted because you could almost write a book about that issue
