Marky mark isn’t as good as Suaalii. I don’t think the report is credible. He’s just after more money from the clownshow that is Rugby Australia.

Smart Signings: The Roosters do need a winger - but is Nawaqanitawase what they are looking for?

Munster always seems to be freestyling it rather than playing to a structure. Has been very inconsistent this year.

'Wake-up call': Is it time for a complete Kangaroos team overhaul after New Zealand 'capitulation'?

It’s going to be a great day of rugby. Come on Kiwis!

Kiwis haka, Tongan bad blood and the rematch of the year: Five things to watch in the Pacific Championships

Good test match and they are very evenly matched. I think the Kiwis will win in Waikato. They were a little unlucky tonight and with a mad NZ home crowd they will get over the top the Kangaroos.

The decision on the forward pass was ludicrous in real time. Both Berry and the touch judge were perfectly placed. If any team was let down by the terrible Aussie ref, it was England.

It’s going to be a great weekend of rugby.

Regardless of EJ’s coaching skills and the systemic problems in Australian rugby union, His inability to gather a cohesive backroom team, denial of reality in press conferences and weird selections, all mean he should probably go.

The Wallabies' World Cup campaign was a disaster from start to finish - but sacking Eddie Jones isn't the answer

Dumbest plan of all the dumb plans. Ban kids from the big bad meanie sport! Grow up.

'Semi pro sport at best': Ex-Ireland HP manager's scathing critique of Aussie rugby, and dire warning for its future

Firstly Will Skelton is not a household name in France. In La Rochelle and some of the southern rugby towns maybe. Secondly, why would any kind care about that? It’s like saying to kids in England that Herbie Farnworth is a ‘household name in Queensland’. It wouldn’t make an iota of difference. This global game bollocks has run its course. There are people who watch the NRL all over the world and believe it or not rugby league players are allowed to buy plane tickets, but it doesn’t matter. Having a decent, financially sustainable, domestic league is what matters, whether it’s RU or RL.

'Semi pro sport at best': Ex-Ireland HP manager's scathing critique of Aussie rugby, and dire warning for its future

Speaking as a rugby league fan who watches union alot this is madness. He’ll be 28 and too slow / inexperienced to play 12 or in the back row. He’s injury prone too. The guy they need to sign from the Roosters is Wong..he’s excellent and a teenager..How can they get this stuff so wrong…

Besieged Wallabies throw lucrative deal at Crichton in bid to lure Roosters star back to rugby - with a Super twist

Great article Mike. The point about the Swans stealing the Waratahs/Wallabies lunch is well made. What Aussie rugby union lacks is a decent club comp….as Super rugby is a nonsense. But that’s a very expensive undertaking and requires leaving their little north shore enclaves once in a while. Judging by the story in the AFR today that’s the furthest thing from Phil Waugh’s mind. He reckons a private school love-in is all that matters:

“Waugh was then given ample space in this newspaper to explain his “plan to save Australian rugby”. Along with trying to get PE interest and growing the game in western Sydney to fend off competition from competing codes, he had a neat idea.
“I love the concept of an old boys’ day at Allianz Stadium … three back-to-back GPS [Great Public Schools] games at Allianz Stadium from 11am to 5pm, and you just make it a festival,” Waugh said.

Don’t worry, Wallabies: the NRL is here to save you from yourselves

While so many rugby union fans believe in this exceptionalism, you’ll never climb out of the hole that you are in. Most NRL players could play first grade union. Ben Téo had never played union in his life but two seasons with Leinster and he was a regular and effective international with both England and the Lions.

This is the brutal reality: There are Aussies desperate to see Wallabies fail, and many want to see the sport's complete demise

Crazy amount of rugby talent and I think the Kangaroos won’t be ready in Melbourne. Stuck on the other side of the world I’ll be going to England vs Tonga. Should be just as good.

A crying shame for the Wallabies: The problems Cam Murray would have solved

Just because there are world class inside centres like Danty and Allende does not mean Murray would not be able to be an international class inside centre. Too late now.

A crying shame for the Wallabies: The problems Cam Murray would have solved

Great article Mike. I was at Wembley watching Leigh vs Hull KR at the weekend. It was close (golden point) but was interesting how much more sophisticated Leigh’s attack was, reflected in two very clever tries. Everyown knows what Leigh are going to do. Asiata takes it to the line to challenge the defence, usually with a shoulder runner…as they bite he drops it left to Lam who does the same wider…Lam has four options – step if he thinks the d is lazy, short ball to teh shoulder if they jam in on him, Long ball to the winger if the defensive winger is too eager, or pass through the hands in conventional style. It works because Lachlan Lam is a great rugby player…..but has been criticised by some as predictable. It’s great to watch in my opinion and Leigh’s left winger (Charnley) is the top try scorer because of this shape.

The Warriors revival is great news for rugby league in New Zealand. Bigger crowds than the Super rugby teams and they deserve it.

Great reporting Mike. I can’t wait until V’landys is gone. We need progressive administration to support the grassroots and grow the international game, not some spiv owned by gambling interests.

What a game of rugby that was! Loved the try by Wighton and an excellent set of six & drop-goal by Johnson to win it for the kiwi chaps.
