Sport fanatic but unusually for an Australian my favourite sport is American Football with my favourite player being the ridiculous Devin Hester.

Go BEARS!!! Let’s scrape in and then go all the way.

Looking into the NFL playoff crystal ball

Matt Ryan seemed to lose all confidence throwing the deep ball after Julio Jones got injured and Roddy White was playing injured and not getting free. The Falcons also suffered from not having a consistent run game. Steven Jackson was a big disappointment and really did not play well until the end of the season when he was finally healthy.

Most disappointing teams of the NFL season so far

Nick Foles won me my championship as I was lucky to pick him up when Vick went down. Alshon Jefferey also helped tremendously as did the KC defence.

The 2013 NFL Fantasy Football Awards

It’s a great shame that ONE HD decided to move away from being a purely sports channel as that first year where they televised the SEC games live on a Sunday were amazing. Oh well… one can only dream they bring it back.

Go Buckeyes!!!

Cameron Johnston: Another Aussie with National Championship chance

That’s a fair comment but if it was an easy thing to achieve, more than 8 receivers in the history of the game would have done it.

What’s been an interesting stat floating around is that every time Jeffrey has gone over 100 yards in a game the bears have lost the game (0-5).

What we learnt in NFL Week 13

Lets not forget Alshon Jeffrey who had 249 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns on the weekend against the Minnesota Vikings. It was also the second time this season that he went over 200 yards receiving as he managed 218 against the Saints.

Maybe we will see a change in the coaching and equipment managers in regards to having your equipment done up properly so as to prevent such occurrences in the future.

NFL shouldn't punish LeVeon Bell for losing helmet

Wow that’s a massive fine and a draft pick really hurts the organisation. But I agree an example has to be made to say no this is completely unacceptable.

NFL shouldn't punish LeVeon Bell for losing helmet

The problem with just outlawing it is that it doesn’t remove the problem. If a defensive back is beaten by a player and it’s either give up a touchdown or take the 15 yard personal foul they will take the foul every time. Which means players are still potentially being put in harms way. It will be interesting to see if equipment does change down the track to potentially stop this occurring.

Is the NFL becoming too soft?

Can’t is a strong word, I’m sure there is a few engineers and designers out there that could come up with some ideas to prevent it.

Is the NFL becoming too soft?

That’s a great point. Union and League basically abolished the collar tackle by changing of the uniform. I wonder if the NFL has thought to look into ways of achieving this with their uniforms.

Is the NFL becoming too soft?

Crabtree is back and practising this week so will be interesting to see if he brings the throwing game back to life with his ability to gain separation from defensive backs and actually give Kapaernick someone to throw to.

Is the AFC West really NFL's best division?

Luke Kuechly is the kind of Middle Line Backer that every NFL team wishes they had drafted. The guy is a beast and has really improved the Panthers defence, which has meant that Cam Newton does not need to be constantly pressing when he has the ball. With Atlanta faltering badly this season the Panthers have a great chance at the wildcard spot in the NFC.

Cam Newton finds wins with maturity for Carolina

Agreed, lowering the helmet and using the crown was ridiculous. Another big hit on the weekend which should never have been called was the one on Josh McCown, that was a fantastic hit that was legal and should not have been penalised.

Is the NFL becoming too soft?

Just to nitpick, a typical NFL game only goes for 3 hours, the league try’s very hard to ensure that games finish in the allotted 3 hour block, mostly due to TV coverage. College football on the other hand may be what the Time magazine study was looking at, and that is a considerably different game.

Is the NFL becoming too soft?

If you have a 24-0 lead going into the second half and lose, it’s hard not to say the defence is to blame. On saying that, running backs fumbling the ball is a sure fire way to put your defence in a tough spot.

Peyton Manning left out in the cold – again

agreed, I think it would be much more beneficial for them as players to stay in the A-League longer. But I can understand that they as Australian footballers think you need take that overseas opportunity when it arises as you may never see that kind of money / opportunity again.

Socceroos go down 2-1 in Jordan

I am fully for the players taking the money when the opportunity presents itself because they are not going to make it in Australia. I just think its a shame that they can then spend most of their season on the bench thus not putting in game time and not being seen by national selectors as a viable option. I don’t know what the answer is, but I feel something needs to be done.

Socceroos go down 2-1 in Jordan

agree

Socceroos go down 2-1 in Jordan

All our promising players that are coming through the A League are going off to Europe and then never being heard of again as they get lost on the benches. So sad to see Australian football becoming stronger domestically but our international team struggling and having no flair and talent coming through.

Socceroos go down 2-1 in Jordan

No doubt Peyton Manning will have an okay season, it is highly unlikely to be his best but he should put up solid numbers and help Denver compete in the AFC West.

Tebow will be starting for the Jets by the end of the season, Sanchez is well loved but unless he gets his offence off to a flyer the fickle New York / New Jersey market will be calling for his blood.

What I think will be very interesting is to see if Mario Williams can perform at a high level for the Bills like he did for the Texans. I would love to see the Bills competing for the AFC wildcard spot and Williams sacking Tom Brady on every down.

Rookies and Roundabouts: The biggest 2012 NFL player movements

The reason that Tim Tebow was able to win games last season was due to the predictability of NFL defences in the 4th quarter when their team has a lead. Tebow was able to flourish in the fourth quarter when behind as defences started playing a prevent defence with deep safeties and they stopped sending blitz packages at him. When no pressure is applied to Tebow he can throw well enough or he can take off on a run if all the secondary drop deep. If teams had continued to harass him through the final quarter I feel the results would have been much different.
