Do the players that Ablett ironed out over his career get to sue him for concussion related injuries?

AFL News: Caminiti, Merrett, Adams learn tribunal fate, Ablett begins legal action on concussions, Swans won't rush Buddy

Totally agree Nick. It’s actually refreshing when you actually hear a play by play commentator these days.
Every commentator makes mistakes, it’s nit picking to call out any of them on it.

Six Points: 2023's biggest umpiring farce, Kelli Underwood's commentary, and was Gather Round really THAT good?

I really enjoy Kelli’s commentating, one of a handful of commentators that actually commentate the game.
Will take her over most, a lot of the others are basically having a conversation amongst themselves.

Six Points: 2023's biggest umpiring farce, Kelli Underwood's commentary, and was Gather Round really THAT good?

I remember a lot of people on here being judge, jury and executioner regarding the internal Hawthorn investigation.
Clarko and Fagan strongly denied they did anything wrong but were already sentenced after it came out. Most on here had them guilty and there wasn’t any evidence only the statements from the accusers.
In this case there seems to be a fair bit of actual evidence. I like Crisp as a player but it doesn’t look good from him.

AFL News: Pies star to play as further details emerge of video scandal, Fagan defends under-fire Daniher

Noticed how all your tips from last week didnt include one game. For example Liam should add another tip as he picked both the Saints and Bombers.

Unfortunately Cats will play a lot better than last week, not writing off the Hawks but can’t see the Cats dropping 4 in a row.

Win/win game for me.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions Round 3: Call yourself an expert tipper?

You must be living in a Bulldogs bubble if you didn’t see anything or read anything about it.
I do apologise for being positive about the Hawks and it bothered you so much.

Six Points: The fundamental flaw in ump dissent rule, Cats in crisis, and Jamarra a chance to right footy's wrongs

Hawthorn vs North wasn’t big news but the media did build up Mitchell vs Clarkson last week and have talked about the eventual match up since he was appointed as coach for North.
Other media outlets have it as a big talking point for round 3, l probably just prefer how it was done last year where they had talking points and at the end everyone got a small piece.

Six Points: The fundamental flaw in ump dissent rule, Cats in crisis, and Jamarra a chance to right footy's wrongs

I do agree with your comment but you also have to take in account that the Hawks had no forward over 186cm apart from a resting ruckman.
Lewis and Wingard are big outs also for a young team.

Six Points: The fundamental flaw in ump dissent rule, Cats in crisis, and Jamarra a chance to right footy's wrongs

Beveridge said that about Cornes, that’s why Dougie said Cornes is holding a grudge against him.

Six Points: The fundamental flaw in ump dissent rule, Cats in crisis, and Jamarra a chance to right footy's wrongs

I suppose the Bulldogs had a great win?
I guarantee you if North had of won there would be a mention of Clarkson out coaching Mitchell.
Mitchell vs Clarkson was one of the big talking points going into the round. That alone is worth a mention.
When a young team gets belted like they have and they turn it around shows a lot of character, could’ve easily thrown in the towel when North challenged late.

Six Points: The fundamental flaw in ump dissent rule, Cats in crisis, and Jamarra a chance to right footy's wrongs

Not about getting carried away, a young inexperienced team that was belted the first two weeks showed great resolve and character to bounce back.
I guess negativity trump’s positivity

Six Points: The fundamental flaw in ump dissent rule, Cats in crisis, and Jamarra a chance to right footy's wrongs

No mention of the great response by the Hawks after a terrible first two weeks. Been raked over the coals by media and pundits alike, accused of tanking and given not much of a chance to win a game this year.
Showed great resolve and it was a brilliant coaching display by Mitchell.
Probably would of written about the game if the Kangas had of won and spoke about the masterclass coaching of Clarkson.

Six Points: The fundamental flaw in ump dissent rule, Cats in crisis, and Jamarra a chance to right footy's wrongs

l think they will be more competitive than some people think.
Were tipped to be the wooden spooners this year along with North and finished above other sides who had supposedly better lists.
Loving the new direction under Mitchell, from list management to playing style.
Looking forward to the season regardless of big losses. Like this year looking for effort and development.

AFL player movement and draft power rankings: Club's 'nonsensical' trades, and the premiers ace it again

Maybe, but l think having a large percentage of the group in a similar age bracket will benefit down the track.
Gunston needed a change and the Hawks really didn’t have much choice in the matter.
Would’ve liked to have kept O’Meara but moving on Shiels and Howe was the right move.
I have been a critic of Mitchell in the past two seasons, hurts you defensively and the Hawks game plan of quick footy doesn’t suit him.
Also can hurt with poor disposal by foot. Been reading how he is a great pick up for Collingwood but heard he was just an accumulator and didn’t do any damage by media and fans. Funny how a change of jumper changes their mind.
Last year everyone said the Hawks should trade out Breust, Wingard, Mitchell, O’Meara and Gunston and when they didn’t they were criticised for holding onto older players. This year they do it and still can’t win.
Amon is a big get that suits the Hawks style, had a really good last couple of years that plays on the wing but can go into the middle.
Worpel is the obvious choice to replace Mitchell, won the B&F when Mitchell broke his leg and was able to show his talent. Was given a different role and didn’t suit him.
The building blocks are slowly being put in place and hopefully after a couple more seasons the Hawks are on their way up.

AFL player movement and draft power rankings: Club's 'nonsensical' trades, and the premiers ace it again

I rate Weddle highly, was very happy the Hawks did the deal to get him. Obviously the Hawks were right into him and l will back them in.
I watched a lot of under 18’s and the state championships and thought he would be a great pick up.
Swans jumped at Cooper Vickery which was a surprise as he was tipped to go a lot later.
Most of the Hawks defenders are attacking type players, Hayes would have been a typical selection for the Hawks but Weddle is a lot more versatile and can play in multiple positions.
He is the type of player Sam Mitchell likes, hard, quick and attacks every contest.
He also has a bit of X factor.
Getting Stephens from Geelong adds that other pure mid which probably made them rethink their startegy.
In saying that Weddle said that the Hawks interviewed him multiple times and showed the most interest.
Going to be an interesting season next year regardless of where our teams finish.

AFL player movement and draft power rankings: Club's 'nonsensical' trades, and the premiers ace it again

I was surprised he was still there. Probably get a bit taller also which will help him play as a big mid or good size defender.

AFL player movement and draft power rankings: Club's 'nonsensical' trades, and the premiers ace it again

Your assuming that they are playing in the position they were selected. Hustwaite in the Metro v Country game had a lot better game in the first half playing as a mid then he did playing half back in the second half. These type of players give a team alot more versatility and moving parts.

AFL player movement and draft power rankings: Club's 'nonsensical' trades, and the premiers ace it again

I really like him, yeah he does come across as a really nice guy.
Freo wanting to retain him says a lot so happy he chose to come to the Hawks.
I think Reeves and Meek will be a pretty good ruck combo, well l’m hoping so anyway.

AFL player movement and draft power rankings: Club's 'nonsensical' trades, and the premiers ace it again

I think so also, seems to me Freo have picked up a lot of high end talent for the past few years.
I think a lot of people also questioned the Hawks picking up Meek without much knowledge of him.
I personally believe he will have a big impact at the Hawks for years to come. A really underated pick up imo.

AFL player movement and draft power rankings: Club's 'nonsensical' trades, and the premiers ace it again

McKenzie has said they are thinking of playing him on the wing. This was his first year playing predominantly in defense. He is one of the most versatile players in this year’s draft.
If he ends up playing back it will allow Day to play wing and mid to develop that part of his game. Also will give opportunity for a player like Scrimshaw to go forward and fill Gunstons role when needed.

AFL player movement and draft power rankings: Club's 'nonsensical' trades, and the premiers ace it again

Check out his game on Cadman. Can play on tall and small forwards. Sicily is only 186cm and plays a lot taller than that.

AFL player movement and draft power rankings: Club's 'nonsensical' trades, and the premiers ace it again

Totally disagree Charlie. Weddle has played defense , forward and midfield in junior footy. Very versatile and is hard at it.
Mark McKenzie said that he will likely play wing next year. The benefit of Weddle is that if he does play in defense it opens up opportunities for Day, Scrimshaw or even Sicily to play up the ground. Listed as a key defender doesn’t mean he is locked into that position.
Hardwick and Sicily were picked up as forwards and Kosi as a defender to name a couple that play in a completely different field position.
Thought he was a great pick up and all the experts have said it was a great move.
Hustwaite was rated to go anywhere from 15-25 so to get a classy big bodied mid at 37 is a bargain.
The Hawks went for needs and got the players they needed and wanted, very happy with it.

2022 AFL Draft recap: Who your team picked, biggest steals and more

There are going to be a lot of new favourite players next year. I thought the same with Weddle.
Jakob Ryan at the pies will be a cult figure next year, mad hawk supporter and would of loved him playing for us . Just going by the interviews they all seemed like nice young kids.
With the Hawks not challenging for the 8 the biggest enjoyment for me is seeing their debuts and watching the progress of the young players.

2022 AFL Draft recap: Who your team picked, biggest steals and more

I agree, it seems to have been a very positive draft. Even clubs that had their first picks in the second round seemed to get players that they were after.
I think you would be happy with Freo also, Hugh Davies is a really good pick up at pick 33.
Freo really don’t have any pressing needs but it’s always good to add depth to the list which they did adding a young ruck, forward and a mature ager in Wagner.

2022 AFL Draft recap: Who your team picked, biggest steals and more

Really happy with the Hawks picks.
Mackenzie was my first choice, a good size at 188cm. Smart footballer with great disposal. Him and Ashcroft formed a very formidable duo.

Glad the Hawks were able to trade up and get Weddle, big bodied explosive, hard versatile talent. Can play back, forward, mid or wing. Can see him slotting into the defense next year to allow Day to play on the wing or Scrimma to go forward and replace Gunners. He might transition to wing/mid in a couple of years

Hustwaite one of the steals of the draft at pick 37, another big bodied mid with clean disposal and footy smarts. Likened to Pendlebury, hopefully can have a similar career.
Both Hustwaite and Weddle have basketball backgrounds which seems to be an asset for the modern game.

Didn’t see a lot of O’Sullivan but like Bailey McDonald will be a project player for the next couple of years.

Overall very happy with the Hawks picks.
