Not at all, can’t cross my fingers if l wanted too but l am not expecting the Hawks to do much next year. Mitchell was pushed aside this year so that the younger Hawk mids can get some much needed experience.
Going forward it will be a lot more beneficial for the Hawks to get games into guys like Ward and McDonald than to hold onto Mitchell and O’Meara.
I wish nothing but the best for Gunston, O’Meara and Mitchell.
They should all help their new sides next year.

AFL Trade Period power rankings: The team that cleaned up... and the one that just got nuked, AGAIN

I was very happy the Hawks picked up Meek Jonboy.
Good fit for the Hawks, right age and has shown promise in the games for Freo and in the WAFL.
Looks to be a nice mark, will help when he needs to go forward.
O’Meara is a great pick up for Freo, will cover Mundy. It’s never good when two of your favourites leave the club but l can
understand O’Meara and Gunston wanting to move.
Last year all the talk from the media was players like O’Meara, Mitchell, Breust and Wingard should be put up for trade, this year it happens and it’s the wrong move. Will never win in the media.
I’m fine with a few years of hardship, l can see what Sam is trying to do. I enjoyed watching them this year and the style they played.

Mitchell and O’Meara’s value wasn’t that high. No other team wanted Mitchell and getting Meek and a future second in next year’s super draft is a pretty good deal.
Mitchell is a plodder and l would’ve liked him traded 12 months ago.
They now have a lot of picks to trade up before or on draft night.
Hawks needed another ruckman on the list and Stephens is a good addition.
Sam’s obvious focus is to have
a list that are relatively in the same age bracket going forward.
I am looking forward to seeing the young list develop, it’s the right strategy imo.

Crawf in 08 was another player that ended on a high. Super fit to the end of his career.

That’s what l’m talking about!

Fairytale finishes are rare, which makes Joel Selwood’s remarkable

That’s why l said it’s irrelevant to me, l am not worried about what clubs are saying.
It also comes down to advertisers money, Gold Coast vs North as an example on a Friday night is not doing anything for the AFL or Channel Sevens ratings or revenue.
Big clubs don’t become popular or successful due to being in prime time slots, it helps with their exposure but on field success is the ultimate reason young people or people new to the game become fans of those clubs.

Six Points: Let's calm down about the Dons, defending the Kelly trade, and the AFL's worst fixture choice in years

Totally agree, it’s irrelevant to me what day the game is played or at what time. I don’t get the fuss.

Had the same away jumper for the last few years now.
I suggest you go to the doctor’s if your wee is that colour lol

Wow 109pts. I only saw the result now, really big win but probably most tipped Richmond by a big margin.

AFL Friday Footy Fix: Putrid Eagles hit rock bottom, Tigers feast on the carcass

MvEvoy is a great choice as captain, players wanted him to continue as captain. He is a warrior, Sicily will be the next Hawks captain.
I noticed that you said that they should have a younger better option, that should apply to a few captain’s you listed here such as Sloane, Pendlebury, Nankervis, Selwood and Zorko to name a few.
I don’t have an issue with any of these players as captain’s but shouldn’t all these clubs also have younger, better options?

BRETT GEEVES: Round 5 was a s--t show and ludicrous spate of 50m penalties threatens to derail AFL season

Most probably but Nash has only started to play in the midfield late last year so l don’t see him playing on Cripps for the entire game.

Big Boy blow: Hawks captain out indefinitely after training mishap

Probably be Nash who they have been playing through the midfield and sometimes helps in the ruck. Very athletic 197cm, they have used Lewis also when he is struggling to get a kick.

Big Boy blow: Hawks captain out indefinitely after training mishap

Reeves played more in the ruck last week, 57 ruck contests compared to Mcevoys 35.
McEvoy is a big loss but it will give Reeves more game time in the ruck to help him develop.
Has really improved over the last 12 months and is pretty agile for guy at 211cm.

Big Boy blow: Hawks captain out indefinitely after training mishap

The Hawks didn’t allow Port to play their style of game. Hawks skills, pressure and defensive structure were elite last night. Port over possessed the ball where the Hawks were very efficient.
Liking the look of a lot of the young players, hopefully Day returns this week and Bramble and Impey in the next few weeks who will all add more excitement and speed to the team.
Newcombe looks like a tremendous pick up in last year’s mid season draft. I reckon the Hawks have found a gem and Reeves is looking like a very promising ruck.
Great win but early on in the season but will take them when we can get them.

AFL Saturday Study: Unpacking ultimate Power failure, time for taggers to return as stars wreak havoc

The dogs have an A grade midfield but are pretty average in defence. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them in the bottom half of the 8,

AFL Thursday Thought Bubble: Breathtaking Blues good enough, but can they be for long enough?

I’ve tipped Hawthorn Peter lol

AFL Thursday Thought Bubble: Breathtaking Blues good enough, but can they be for long enough?

Carlton should beat the Hawks Diesel but the Hawks didn’t have the wood over Carlton. They were clearly the better side between the two until a couple of years ago and it would’ve been considered an upset had the Blues won.
Times have now changed but in saying that upsets do happen and the Hawks did beat a polished Bulldogs outfit late last year.

AFL Thursday Thought Bubble: Breathtaking Blues good enough, but can they be for long enough?

No disrespect taken, all good. I was just pointing out that there would be plenty of supporters who don’t come from a particular Team’s area.

What's in a name when it comes to sporting clubs?

Haha, maybe only for this week Chris.

Round 1 AFL power rankings: So it begins

I have never ever been to Hawthorn, hardly ever been to the eastern suburbs so there has never been a connection to the suburb but l am a passionate supporter.
I never even think about the suburb, it means nothing to me. lol

I thought you had the Hawks as wooden spooners Peter? They might finish last again and regardless of where they finished last year their effort on the weekend was a lot harder than the Saints. They put in a good effort but lacked the polish. North at least played 4 quarters that’s why l rate the Hawks winning over the Kangas higher. Plus the Hawks were missing some key personnel which had the game at 50/50 to me.

Round 1 AFL power rankings: So it begins

Both Hawks and Kangas around the same mark and the Hawks were missing a few of their best 22. Nearly 4 goals down and turned it around.
North put in a lot better effort than the Saints who were lethargic and apart from a small burst didn’t come out very interested.

Round 1 AFL power rankings: So it begins

Didn’t have a choice with Breust and McEvoy but l thought our young players showed enough. They should be exciting to watch when Day, Impey and Bramble return.

ANALYSIS: Mitchell praised after successful coaching debut as 'fantastic' tall shines, number one draft pick dazzles for Roos

Martins game was better, Daicos played well but got a lot of easy possessions off half back.

Nearly had to mute the commentary, he had a couple of good moments but didn’t have an outstanding debut imo.

They are both very early in their rebuild stage and at this point the Sun’s should have a better list than both of them, definitely in the lower age bracket.
