No matter how settled the Australian Test team is at the beginning of any summer, pundits everywhere will have some form of criticism on the makeup of the team.
While Beth Mooney lacks the flare of the likes of Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry, she is arguably the most vital member of the Australian women’s cricket team.
As Twenty20 becomes more crash and bash and scores get greater, the importance of someone in the middle order who can settle an innings is of the highest priority.
If you were to ask anyone who knows cricket who the pre-eminent white-ball bowler in the world is, ignoring a few Englishmen whos say it’s Jofra Archer, the vast majority would say Mitchell Starc.
The first Test of the Ashes in 2019 began in ominous fashion for the Australians, with the team slumping to 8/122.
The Eagles are quietly building towards a dynasty as one of the competition’s top teams with a possibility of multiple premierships.
As the World Cup passes its halfway point, pitches will begin to lose their life and start to become more of a batsmen’s paradise.
It seems as each summer comes around in Australia we have a new commentator appear on our screens with a modern day bat, comparing it to the bats of old.
Harris was only brought in after Warner was injured and the early indications were that they wanted to stick by Burns over Puckovski. It was pretty clear that Harris was in far better form than Burns considering he was apart of the largest partnership in Sheffield shield history. Honestly would have preferred marsh, at least he had some form behind him
Understanding the conundrum that is the Australian selectors
The India cricket board is worth $295 million and CA is worth $24 million. Yeah Australia dominated but I think it’s incredible that the depth of Australian women’s cricket was able to come through and shine
Never fear, Beth Mooney is here
If I am brutally honest he completely slipped my mind, I really rate him. He is a top notch bowler that is definitely the future
Why Starc should stick to white-ball cricket
I think bowling with a white ball and a red ball are two very different things and the balls will act differently. Starc is far less potent with the red ball
Why Starc should stick to white-ball cricket
Hi Geoff,
Thanks for the constructive criticism, would love to know what were the lies and any more feedback would be much appreciated. It’s simply an opinion I have and has no bearing on who is actually selected. I’m not saying Starc should never play tests but simply his form does not warrant him being first picked. As for his batting I think Pattinson well and truly covers that but his footmarks do have the potential to aid Lyon
Why Starc should stick to white-ball cricket
Richmond have previously held the MCG as a fortress, if they can find that again then they will be mighty tough to beat for the Eagles
Why the Eagles are the team to beat
Hindsight is a beautiful thing, behrendorff delivered when it mattered
If Australia is to win the World Cup, Richardson must play
I think behrendorff leaks too many runs without taking enough wickets, I think behrendorff has to open the bowling to be potent and he can’t in this team
If Australia is to win the World Cup, Richardson must play
Couldn’t agree more, I think we need to ensure our shield is as competitive as possible so making sure we are mimicking test wickets as much as possible
