Managed to watch every ball of 2005 Ashes due to a fortuitously timed back operation, made up for a lot of hurt.

Wouldn’t have Ben Kay anywhere near the list.

The Roar’s 50 greatest players in Rugby World Cup history: 20-16

No sour grapes I can assure you, as I stated quite clearly, he’s a great player. He’s just starting to sound pretty arrogant with it, that’s all.

Steve Smith's priceless reaction to England's leg slip plan finally working

Steady on Spruce, if the internet’s not for pedantry then what’s it for? 😁

England win despite stunning Matt Wade ton

“An injured batsman and an amazing Stokes innings the only thing that stopped them going back to London 3-0 up.”
How about the injured bowler for England and are we going to conveniently forget Lord’s where Australia were saved by the rain?
Stokes innings did happen as did Smith’s.

England win despite stunning Matt Wade ton

Well I’m quite sure that they weren’t thinking about Chappell a great deal during the leg theory series. No idea on ‘56, but yeah those dastardly English. 😂

'A load of bollocks': Ian Chappell lays into the Aussies for sledging

Great player no doubt but he’s becoming a conceited little so and so with it.

Haha, fair enough Mike. Typed on a phone so not ideal for keeping up with the gist, but point taken.

England have no moral high ground over ball tampering

J sus wept.

England have no moral high ground over ball tampering

Mmmh.

England have no moral high ground over ball tampering

Have I missed something? My name being taken in vain?

England have no moral high ground over ball tampering

Of course you have because the Aussie media like to bring up any perceived slights as evidence of the mean Poms. As if the Australian media isn’t overtly hostile to the English at every opportunity, they will even help nurture/manufacture outrage a la the Broad non incident.

FWIW, I wish that those English fans that were booing Smith and Warner weren’t doing it but they are a minority. I have no doubt that the media stuff is coming from the red top tabloids too, so no surprise there.

In regards to Ronan’s article which appears a case of throwing as many darts as possible at the wall to see what lands in order to divert attention away.
Regarding the Atherton incident which I remember very well, there was a big back lash against him from fans and media.
In terms of using mints/sweets to change the condition of the ball, shock horror, this has been going on forever and still does as we know with Faf, the thing is, nobody cares, because nobody considers to be cheating, the same way that nobody considered Aussie bowlers rubbing zinc cream sweat onto the ball to be cheating. Sandpaper is another thing altogether though and we all know this, even Ronan.

I happen to think that punishments fished out by CA were punitive and overly harsh and have had the effect of making the crime seem way worse than it actually was, although it was way worse than the incidents above but hey.

Lastly, I suspect that the vitriol that was received by Australia and its cricketers following sandpaper gate is related to a few things, namely the past behaviours of the team, media and fans. Specifically regarding some of the English reaction, I suspect it’s come from those who have been in Australia for recent tours and found some of the Aussie team, fans and media to be every bit as boorish and more than what you’re seeing right now in the UK, so a little bit of what goes around comes around.

Finally and ironically as this article perfectly demonstrates, Australia has always offered itself up as the moral arbiters of the game, even when the actions of its players, fans and media would suggest otherwise. Australians perceive themselves as being well liked internationally and no doubt in many ways they are, but when it comes to cricket, this incident has rightly or wrongly, shown them in what regard they are held…and it appears to have come as a bit of a shock.

Dwayne, see Ben’s post below. I was always lead to believe that Aussies had a decent sense of humour.
What’s with all the pofaced pious pontificating? 😱

Steve Smith totally falls for Jonny Bairstow's cheeky prank

Very cunning indeed.

Archer and Curran rip through Australia

Not sure that’s what Stokes was trying to do tbh.
Marsh is a bit of a conundrum as a player really. His bowling is suited to England not Australia and his batting is suited to Australia not England. I do feel for the bloke though, he seems like a good bloke as does his brother, but they get an inordinate amount of stick from a lot of Aussie ‘fans’.

And breathe.

Archer and Curran rip through Australia

Good old county cricket, the finishing school for overseas players…and THEY get paid for it. 😡

Archer and Curran rip through Australia

England bowled some absolute rubbish in that innings tbh but Archer and Curran were good enough. Woakes was poor and Broad looks knackered.

Archer and Curran rip through Australia

Thought that was Lyon.

😂

Pat Cummins is a great in the making

*You’re. Aargh

Steve Smith totally falls for Jonny Bairstow's cheeky prank

Bit early to be calling it Sarge, I called it at Headingley and we know what happened there. I have been puzzled with the way Woakes has been handled although he didn’t look great yesterday tbh and his batting has been a fair bit worse than normal, although he wouldn’t be alone in that obviously. Curran is a really good cricketer (as is his brother) and is the kind of guy that fans love, he gives it his all, makes things happen and is always up for the fight (bit like Stokes). I suspect that Aussies may warm to him because of those virtues. It’s just a shame for both Curran’s that they’re not a foot taller because they’d be real handfuls then.
Having said all of that, I don’t think either of them are suited to playing in Australia particularly.

Archer and Curran rip through Australia

Calm down sweetheart. It’s a joke, Smith fell for it, Bairstow gave him a smile. Bet your fun at the office party. 😂

Wow

'As good as you'll see': Even Ricky Ponting was stunned by this Rory Burns blinder

I’m not sure that I’ve been ever been described as fair and measured before James, especially in the Roar…but thanks. ????

Australia retain Ashes in a thriller

Maybe. However given the way Australia were appealing yesterday I’m not so sure. They appealed like that numerous times, the umpire was unmoved and they shrugged and did nothing. We will never know but it was a strange sight to see Stokes walk off after being given not out, that’s for sure.

Everyone shocked as Ben Stokes walks after being given not out
