Cheers Matt
You have clearly put a great deal of time and effort (and research!) into this series. I have really enjoyed it so far and I’m looking forward to the rest of the alphabet. Now, please pause whilst I attach my blue and grey eye-patch.
I was taken aback when the 1 jersey was given to someone other then Matthew Bowen. I was then completely flummoxed when I read through both centres without mention of Paul Bowman. I then started frothing at the mouth after reaching the end of the team list without seeing John Buttigieg’s name! C’mon! I’ll admit to hearing of this Beetson fella before, but he sure as hell was no Butts. I’ll never forget sitting on the hill at Dairy Farmers Stadium watching Big Butts cart the ball up the middle of the ruck (albeit with a respectable rest in-between runs). 3 games for Queensland. 1 try. Nothing else to add really.
To be serious for a moment, I must admit to no knowledge of Keith Barnes, but he must have been one hell of a fullback to keep Mango Bowen, Garry Belcher and Tim Brasher out of the team. Ditto Bevan and Blinkhorn who got the nod over Kerry Boustead and Nathan Blacklock.
Nice work Matt, keen to see the C team next week. No doubt you’ve got Reggie Cressbrook at number 1…

Rugby league history: The all-time great alphabet teams – Letter B

For sure Albo. The North Queensland forward pack badly underperformed in 2018. There were plenty of other factors beyond J. Granville that produced such a wretched season.

I do believe they have the players in the pack who can provide good quick ball that Granville would thrive off. We didn’t see that last year so much though. We saw some lethargy and lack of focus in defense instead.
