Well done Sharks – they play smart footy and go relatively error-free. Well coached side that deserve to be on top of the ladder.

Roosters typically ill-disciplined with costly errors. Mike you mentioned Walker’s good bits but neglected some of his terrible options to kick away the footy early in sets when attacking.

Also, we need to talk about Jared. It’s not popular as a Roosters supporter to say this but I’ll be glad to see the back of him at year’s end. He’s been a great player but he offers us very little now besides giving away stupid penalties. If he didn’t have the history of 300 games behind him he wouldn’t be in the 17. Lenui, Collins, May and Whyte are a much better middle rotation.

And after talking about Jared can we talk about Brandon Smith? If he wasn’t on the big bucks and we were looking at just outputs he wouldn’t make our 17. You’d have Watson at 9 and S Smith at 14.

I hate to lay the boot into guys in the club I support but i imagine the above is obvious to anyone. I can forgive Dom Young for some terrible errors because he offers so much upside and is still very young – he’ll learn.

Looking forward to Manu returning – he was a huge out considering his calibre and the calibre of his replacement.

Our draw gets pretty cushy now compared to what we’ve had so hoping to string some wins together and work towards the top 4.

Sharks announce themselves as major contenders after downing Roosters in high-scoring Magic Round epic

You may want to fact check your post. Roosters beat the titans in the finals in 21.

The Fifita flip: What happens now for reeling Roosters and their unexpected $3.4 million bounty?

Manu gone from Roosters is a game changer. Now have Pauga, a back-up winger at best, starting at centre. Advantage Sharks.

How does a professional organisation not manage their comms better? Why would Robbo not have spoken about the Fifita-sized elephant in the room to Crichton? Or is the silence a clear sign that they’re happy for him to walk? You’d still think they’d have the decency to have that frank chat with him, rather than have him talking to the media about it. Crazy stuff.

NRL News: Integrity Unit investigate alleged Walker and Mitchell racial abuse, Crichton left in lurch

I really thought Suaalli would be suspended from the knee raising on Egan, especially given previous suspensions from the same offence. But not even a fine. Instead he copped a fine for dangerous contact on what I thought was just a good tackle. I give up.

NRL Round 10 Talking Points: Sharks' statement win - and can we stop it with the North Sydney Bears talk?

Yeah I mentioned in another thread I think Watson is a superior 9. But for team balance he has to be 14 because he can cover pretty much every position. He’s the new Mitch Aubusson.

Roosters run riot in JWH’s milestone match as tough question looms for Warriors over Johnson’s future

So do the bookies. If Hynes is out again I think it will be a tough ask, but I’m worried Suaalii will cop some weeks for his knee lifting on Egan – and we don’t have back-up centres with Jennings and B Smith injured. So that may even things up a bit.

NRL Power Rankings: Round 10 - We have a new leader with Panthers hamstrung, Eels getting desperate, Storm lack oomph

Gee Muster was poor. I get his pack was getting bashed but even the good ball he had he did nothing with. He turned it on when his contract was up for renewal a few years ago but besides that he’s been pretty ordinary for a while. Hughes definitely more important to that team than him.

Sharks D has definitely stepped up – hats off to Fitz.

Baffling sin bin sends Storm spiralling as Sharks overcome Hynes' absence to silence critics ... somewhat

Definitely don’t see Cheese as elite. Not a patch on the two you mentioned. Agree with you there. I actually think Watson is a better 9 than Cheese but for team balance is our best option at 14. But you can’t have elite in every position.

I’m pretty confident in our forward depth beyond the four mentioned. And to be fair those 4 would all be starting props in 95% of forward packs.

I think the if’s you raise are fair though and hear you on Fifita not being the silver bullet for every problem. But to my mind he’s an elite superstar in waiting and hoping Robbo can unlock that potential.

Fifita signing coup an extra feather in the cap as Roosters reopen premiership window

Watson has proved himself as a quality 9 option in back-up to Cheese.

JWH won’t be a huge loss with our middles of Lenui, Collins, May and Whyte.

Sandon Smith at 6 has a big future and having Fifita next to him will help.

Nawaqanitawase is our Suaalii replacement.

The other centre position is a worry though – Billy Smith if injury free is one but not sure of the other.

You forget we have about $4-5 million worth of salary cap freed up next year – no Keary, Manu, Suaalii, JWH, Tupou, and Chricton or Tupouniua to go as well. But don’t let the truth get in the way of a good conspiracy.

When Manly beat the Roosters and Penrith I genuinely thought they were top 4 material. Their implosion since has been nothing short of spectacular.

NSW turmoil continues as Turbo's hamstring goes again and Manly chuck away another lead in Dolphins disaster

It’s not often potential superstar players are on the market though – you need to pounce when they are. I know people bag Fifita but I’d classify him as superstar material every day of the week.
And don’t worry watty, we’ll be getting Cobbo for 26 and beyond to solve our centre/teddy fullback replacement issue. 😁

NRL News: Fifita picks his new club after dropping Titans bombshell, clubs warned whingeing players will be binned

Whyte is a middle forward and Robbo has played Egan as a middle in recent times as well. But yeah, we do have a plethora of good backrowers, but Fifita is better.

Wong signed till end of 26, N Butcher and Tupouniua till 27.

Great to see your enthusiasm for your team despite their ordinary start. As an impartial I’m not as bullish for their year ahead. The next two games could get ugly if Roosters and Panthers play anywhere near their best imo.

The potentially harmful downward spiral that the Warriors need to halt quickly in order to save their season

Agreed. He’s been repeatedly found out in the last few series he played at Origin level too. He is not the answer.

Fullback to the future: Why Madge’s No.1 choice for Blues jersey will define how his side plays

True, forgot they’ve had their injury troubles. I get you can only beat what’s in front of you so kudos for that. I still think they’re a big rung below the best teams but time will tell.

Round 10 Team Lists Late Mail: Souths pick two unknowns, Leniu, Herbie return, Storm duo out, Broncos' surprise half

Is it just me or are the sharks the luckiest team in the nrl? They get the world’s softest draw and when they finally come up against a decent side, that side loses 50% of their spine.

Round 10 Team Lists Late Mail: Souths pick two unknowns, Leniu, Herbie return, Storm duo out, Broncos' surprise half

Manly are bizarre. They’ve looked the best team in the comp some days, particularly when they dominated the Roosters and Penrith. And then other days they let St George, Canberra and nearly the Titans beat them. Their highs are high and their lows are, yeah, very low.

If they can get their proverbial together, they could be the dark horse for the title. And that’s tough to admit being one of the many who absolutely loathe them.

Warriors have Roosters away and then Penrith in magic round. Their season could be done in a fortnight.

Forgot to mention Robbo being spotted with Adam Doueihi a few weeks ago. I hope that’s not the path we take but stranger things have happened.

NRL News: Bennett seeks swift Souths resolution, Robinson says Roosters cashed up to replace Keary

Dearden and Mam would be my targets but they’ve both signed until 2029. It’s slim pickings after them. Burton is locked up until 2027 as well.

Pretty sure we’ll pick-up Cobbo which will be great, maybe not for next year but from 26 onwards.

I think we just bite the bullet and go with Smith and Walker in the halves next year. I agree they’re similar but gives us attacking options both sides – the issue is their defense with two small bodies in the line. Walker’s improved a lot in that regard at least.

Lenui would relish the enforcer role i think – he’s got that crazy look in his eyes. 😁

Raining this morning but the sun has come out the last two hours and has cleared. But weather apps says it’s not going to last with more wet weather on the way and increasing into the evening.
