Both teams knew it was a two game series with points differential to decide the outcome. NSW lost narrowly so “it was a stupid idea to play only two games”. (NSW media comments) Had they won, they would have been quite happy with the system. NSW in all sports feel they have a God given right to win & are generally sore losers. Queensland however have a dilemma. Have they the room in their trophy cabinet for BOTH Origin shields? Queensland. Beautiful one day. Dual SOO winners the next.

ANALYSIS: Origin history made as Maroons lose match but win Shield on points aggregate - now give us three games!

Luai the victim.

How about “summarising” Big Sam’s rap sheet? Perhaps Reece who is quite young, could use him as a role model. I see the point you are endeavouring to make however Luai is at a distinct disadvantage as he has a negative IQ as his “best man speech” indicated.

Further confirmation that Luai is a cretin.

Queensland’s goal line defence in both games. Superb. There is a petition in Queensland for NSW to retain Freddy as coach. Attracted thousands of signatures..

Freddie’s Cooked: How tactical blunders, selection mistakes and a failure to learn doomed the Blues boss

There was conjecture about the non selection of Gagai & Ponga at the start of the series. Billy Slater had the “football smarts” as a player & to date is replicating those qualities as a coach.

ANALYSIS: Slater's smarts win the day as Blues out-thought and out-fought by Maroons

A flukey try, a length of the field try & a try involving many sets of hands & perhaps a kick are all worth the same. Similarly a Sobers cover drive to the boundary is still of the same value in the scorebook as is a Tufnell french cut. Had the Queensland goal line defence not held out one of those early NSW opportunities, we will never know how the game would have panned out as the type of play resumption would have varied. Queensland scored both early & late in the game & NSW had the remainder of the game to put sufficient points on the board. Queensland. Beautiful one day. Understanding how to win SOO the next!

Stop Moses parting the Maroon sea: How Billy Slater can take Queensland to an era-defining victory in Game 2

State of Origin & the Cricket BBL are “intrusions” into the NRL & first class cricket respectively. However they are both big money spinners particularly SOO & are here to stay. Having star players injured in SOO is an unfortunate by product & all fans hope their club players come out of the series unscathed. I recall Russell Fairfax breaking his leg in a midweek comp (Amco Cup?) but I guess there are players who are injured at training. Just a matter of luck.

Moses may possess a long kicking game however in my opinion, it is not as varied as that of Cleary & Reynolds. With the clock ticking down, a man down & trailing in SOO 1, Queensland had the odds stacked against them. Hopefully it’s more clear cut tonight.Maroons by 20+.

Player Managers & media outlets “link” some high profile players to sides like the Roosters & then fans of other clubs react in a predictable manner. Perhaps wait until a rumour becomes reality then vent your spleen if it makes you feel better. In the meantime, try not to let it bother you. Just understand why players are attracted to well run clubs.

Dragons could sign Lodge as well as re sign McGuire who I believe is available.

The Johns Bros? Or to continue the brotherly theme & the sometime “jovial” persona of Freddy, what about the Marx Bros? Or to ensure the Blues “find their way” to the try line, maybe the Leyland Bros.

Win or lose, why Fittler should walk away from NSW coach's gig after this Origin series

What will be his “next & possibly last chapter”? I will always remember his quote after a SOO win when NSW planned on having a team meeting. He said “Winners have parties, losers have meetings”. A deep thinker. A modern day Aristotle or Socrates. Perhaps he could become a motivational speaker although he would have to modify his language..

How important is it to have harmony & “connection” between coach & captain? For example Justin Langer & Pat Cummins. Has “player power” gone too far?

Gold medal for most tasteless“ sledge” on the cricket field. McGrath v Sarwan. The Robinson v Khawaja is tame in comparison. Thoughts.

Good morning Nat. Whilst Reynolds is a few years older than both Cleary & Moses, he still has the ability to “control” a game with his astute &varied kicking game. I personally think that if he was selected & Mitchell was fit, they would pose more of a threat to Queensland. Anyhow SuperCoach Freddy & his “brains trust” may select them for the dead rubber in Sydney.

Why Reynolds would have been a better option for Blues as Moses faces a no-win situation

Re: The DCE “Titans backflip”. I recall subsequent to that occurrence a Manly club game in Brisbane where he was booed. Then when he played SOO up there, he was applauded & cheered. Unless there are two DCE’s, it demonstrates the hypocrisy & fickleness of some sports fans.

Warner probably still “has the support”of the selectors & coaching staff. Lucky he’s not a politician as when they have “support” from their party, they are cleaning out their desks the following day.

First session tonight vital & potentially match defining. My memory is hazy. Who has opened for Australia in place of Khawaja in the period from when he was dropped to his re selection?

Uzzy's the man! Khawaja's finest ton keeps Aussies afloat, but advantage England after top-order failures

Good morning Tony. Broad has a similar “psychological advantage” over Warner (although Davey is still “reportedly” hitting them well in the nets) as Warnie had over Daryl Cullinan. In my cricketing days, every bowler I faced seemed to have some form of advantage over me. Guess that’s why my career didn’t take off.

Interesting article which displays the passion that every loyal club fan possesses. It is an ongoing conundrum. If your team or individual players are going well, representative selection beckons. However the Moses/Cleary situation occurs in all team sports when an elite player is injured. The replacement as you described is perceived to to be in a “no win situation” however I don’t think professional players have that mindset.
