It’ll be interesting to see how timeform rate Novellists victory. He did break Harbingers course record but I think the fast conditions were conducive to this, there was another course record broken in a previous race. CDA was well below his best due to unsuitable firm ground or maybe age or a combination of both. Trading Leather may go on to win at Group 1 level again, maybe not. I still believe the jurys out on the quality of the field but the winner looked impressive.
King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes: 2013 preview
Fair call Alfred you were right, I just didn’t want to believe it, he was just such a great horse but you can’t deny what you see, I still think it was an average King George
King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes: 2013 preview
Fair enough, I thought you were dismissing Frankels potential as a stallion but you don’t believe there’s enough diversity in the breeding.
Black Caviar to go to stallion Exceed and Excel
Kv joef, why ‘heaven-forbid Frankel’ ? His sire Galileo is now a proven sire of sire, Galileo-new approach-dawn approach. Or why not coolmore sires? Fastnet Rock is a proven sire.

20-18 or 3-5, selective memories when it comes to European Cups, something for David Moyes to aim for.
Liverpool, Victory create genuine football atmosphere at MCG
It looks that way Alfred, Al Kazeem seems to be the best of an average lot. His trainer Roger Charlton says he’s unlikely to run in the King George and will give him a break until maybe the Irish Champion stakes and the Arc. So far I haven’t seen anything from Europe that will beat him in the Arc, the Japanese look like they are strongest for this race.

Murray as being playing better than youngs, I think he should have got a start instead
British and Irish Lions team announced to face the Wallabies
If Halfpenny had to leave the pitch Johnny Sexton could have kicked for goal, he’s an accomplished kicker. 2 kickers are needed in a team.
Folau a blinder, Genia brilliant, O'Connor a shocker in Wallabies' loss
Fair enough ozzies had a lot of injuries during the game but they still had enough opportunities to win the game, 4 out of 9 kicks is a poor return. If nz or South Africa got these opportunities I’m confident they would have taken them.
Folau a blinder, Genia brilliant, O'Connor a shocker in Wallabies' loss
The lions went into the game without Roberts and Bowe in their backline, injuries happen, suck it up. If the wallabies had a better place kicker they would have won but o’connor and Beale didn’t hold their nerve but as usual halfpenny did. That was the difference in the game.

Royal Ascot 2013: Day 3 preview
According Aidan O’Brien on the racing post “They will tell you a big operation will take at least four months for a wound to heal. I’ve never really chased him, we’ve been letting the racing bring him but maybe it’s time to chase him. We are very conscious of what he’s been through but maybe we are at the stage where he needs to be chased after a bit.
“He has a lot of options, the Eclipse and all those races. We’ve got to where we are now, we’ve just got to change a few things.”
Judging by this statement they haven’t been hard on the horse at home. It sounds to me that maybe they should have delayed his comeback but as O’Brien said, they hoped the racing would bring him along. I don’t think many will be backing him in the Eclipse.
Camelot: When racing turns against its own
Camelot hasn’t matched the heights of his derby win last year since, he’s had some excuses, unsuitably soft ground in the Arc and an operation for colic last November. I wouldn’t give up on him yet however he is running out of chances if you’re a punter. The fugue is a consistent sort, she’ll be up there. Animal Kingdoms performance was deflating yesterday, his rating should have had him winning that race, he was running to freely earlier and didn’t settle, maybe the undulating track didn’t suit, I thought his class would have seen him through this.
Royal Ascot 2013: Day 2 preview
Still a question about dawn approach’s temperament, pulled very hard, don’t know how we’ll he’ll go in next months Sussex against the older horses. Connections of Toranados confidence before the guineas seem to be justified, he ran a good race.

Thanks Bondy, yes both trainer and horse were worthy of each other.
Vale Sir Henry Cecil, master trainer (1943-2013)
Yes I suppose it was good fortune that a horse as good Frankel came along but when a trainer has the patronage of Prince Khaled Abdullah it can happen. No one deserved Frankel more than Sir Henry Cecil.

I don’t know about the validity of the U.K breeding not being as good as the other countries you mentioned. In Timeform’s top 20 horses who have raced or are still in training in 2013,those bred in UK total 2, Aus 3, NZ 3, Jap 3, Ire 3, USA 4, SA 1 and France 1. Probably an even enough spread, surely not enough to determine that UK is that far behind everyone else. As for Frankel’s 4 year old career, I would agree that the his run in last years Sussex was not worthy of him and a safe option. Not the Queen Anne though where he put 11 lengths on Group 1 winners, not the International where he crushed Dubai Sheema Classic winner SNA or the Champion Stakes where he defeated CDA. Of all the horses you mentioned up there none of them are were as good as CDA, the only one I believe that could match him is Animal Kingdom.
‘The Little Bulldog’ Pierro retired as racing runs second again
Thanks Andrew, should be good later, big things expected from Sprinter Sacre
2013 Cheltenham Day 1: Preview
I think the German horses have been underestimated but in fairness it was a carreer best performance from Novellists. Remember he was beaten by 3 lengths by Danedream last year. The King George/ Arc double in the same year is not an easy thing, only Dylan Thomas in 2007 has done it in recent years. However King George winners are not always aimed for the Arc.
The Germans are coming, says Novellist
