Michael Cheika's emotional reaction as the Wallabies bow out of the World Cup

Enough of the “what ifs” GAME IS ON!!!! Now let’s back to rugby

Scotland threaten World Rugby with legal action over typhoon decision

Agree that Ireland are better than Scotland. Did they have an “off day”/ shoddy tactics? Probably. But that is not to take away from a hugely determined Japanese performance. I just want to see what should be a terrific game- the Japanese with their suicidal determination & the Scots who can be brilliant and woeful in equal measure- bit like France. As for World Rugby??? What an immense cock up. Shame on them. Clearly stuff all contingency.

Interesting that World Rugby claim they analysed “all potential contingencies” before scrapping the Italy v NZ & Eng vFra games. Would be nice to know what they were. WR must be praying the game can be played on Sunday. Moving it to Monday & Italy especially will be mighty peeved. What time AEST is a decision made?edit: 11am

Jaysper, I was not referring to Japan’s ability, which has undoubtedly improved in the last decade, and great to see the host nation doing so well. I was referring to the fact that I’m sure the Japanese squad would much prefer to go through having played all 4 games, and prove definitively they are merited- and show Ireland was no one-off. Getting through without playing Scotland would in my opinion be seen by many as a question mark.

I’m surprised folk aren’t just a bit aghast at Eddie Jones’ comments that “the typhoon Gods must be smiling on us” (re England). Wtf??? He’s always been a —-, and I hope it was somehow taken out of context. If not, that is a shocker.

Global warming…

Scotland threaten World Rugby with legal action over typhoon decision

We don’t and will not know how many nations raised concerns regarding games not being moved in the event of a force majéure. Ideally, there should be provision for postponements throughout the duration, even if it meant extending the overall comp duration. But there are technical issues with logistics, commercial rights/scheduling and most likely some Unions objecting and it would’ve become a legal merry-go-round before a game played. But it should have been in there. I’d hate to think of the atmosphere if Japan was in Scotland’s shoes… So… either way the damage has been done, so to speak. Not playing the game will tarnish the tourney for many a year to come. Moving it to Monday (assuming conditions have improved as most believe it will), is a common sense outcome. But that opens up genuine issues for Italy and possibly France. All in all, that contract is a pile of turd and they won’t make the same mistake again.

… which is clearly flawed.

Japan would also be happy to play. They want to go through top, having played all group games, not through with a question mark.

Just play it on Monday.

What a mess… World Rugby has turned this into a shambles. Feel sorry for Italy & Scotland. Jpn vs Scotland is a game everyone wants to see.. expected to be 60m+ viewers, the largest audience in rugby history. Why don’t they donate some revenue from tv rights to those affected by the typhoon? Management of the comp is farcical. World rugby have to give in, otherwise the tournament will be a disaster.
