It’s funny how football fans are. A player that becomes a free agent who can sign with anyone suddenly becomes a dog when he doesn’t re-sign. How many times have clubs kicked loyal players to the kerb and they are suddenly not good enough in the eyes of fans or the club.

Kosta is doing the same thing any of us would do in the midst of making a career decision. Weighing up the options based on pay, career path, club prospects etc etc. I don’t even know how this is a story. I’m sure you could replace him as he was taking a foreigner spot and probably for less and a better player.

Kosta Barbarouses: Sleeping with the enemy

Not sure how your post relates to the current NCIP policy, but, whatever.

Can the A-League blame rival codes for football's failures?

The FFA and Greg O’Rourke are clueless and they have been for a long time. I have absolutely no faith they understand football or what the average football fan desires. A lot of times the FFA are putting the cart before the horse, focusing on outcomes and results rather than integrity of the sport and on the process itself. The focus should be on making football the best sport it can be and not focusing one bit of energy on what other sports maybe doing. This means catering the sport for football fans and ensuring that the integrity of the sport is paramount to how we run our competition.

So it is with great disappointment when I see the following examples of the FFA messing with the integrity of the sport.

Example 1 – Rigging the FFA cup draw so that at least one NPL team makes the semi final stage of the FFA cup. A team from the NPL will one day make the semi-final of the FFA cup without the need to manufacture it. Its not a magical fairy tale currently. Its effectively cheating or assistance. Its a minor infraction sure, but it still gets on my nerves.

Example 2 – Not having a proper home and away season and a lopsided draw. Of course because of the fact we have a small number of teams we are going to have this issue, sides playing each other 3 times a season is never ideal. However for next year the proposal is even worse. Its going to be home and away and then handpicked games to make up 26 games. Handpicked games…. for goodness sake. Again the focus here is on the metrics of the sport and focusing on crowds and eyes on tv sets rather than the process of making sure we run a fair and integrious competition (pulling my hair out)

Example 3 – Having salary caps and other restrictions on clubs in regards to recruitment of players. This should be rather than simple, there should be no restrictions. It takes a lot of time and effort to administer and by all accounts the salary cap at this stage is broken anyway. So why have it.

Example 4 – The NCIP policy. We have the most hated policy to date in regards to clubs supported from an ethnic background. If only the FFA wasn’t so insecure about our history and where our sport has come from. They love to espouse virtues of fairness, equality and diversity and at the same time have a policy that for all intents and purposes is racist. Whatever your thought on the matter, just know this. Every “AUSTRALIAN” football club should be allowed to be supported however they want by their members. If that means having the colors of their previous homeland as their kit, then so be it. If people find that unpalatable then guess what, they wont support the club and the club dies. I would say that most of these clubs are still surviving and thriving and so no one but the FFA finds this to be an issue.

I am sure I can find plenty of other examples of where the FFA is failing us and they are. We should be trying to be moving towards a global football model because when it is executed well and to the letter. It works well. We are part of the global football community and while we have our challenges we are NOT UNIQUE. Every football loving nation has its challenges and the excuse of having more than one sport in the country is just that, AN EXCUSE.

RANT OVER.

Can the A-League blame rival codes for football's failures?

I would suggest that Rugby Australia is has having difficulties because they don’t have a strong case. Imagine the outrage if Folau wins this case and gets a huge payout to boot. It’s very likely and it won’t be a great look for Rugby Australia. It will be rather embarrassing.

Folau hearing drags into fourth day with no end in sight

How is De Belin a Pelican. He hasn’t been convicted of the charges.

De Belin seeks payout from NRL for 'significant financial damage'

I am on a perfect round at the moment and I am tipping the Raiders and Newcastle Knights in the last two games. I am really struggling with my tip for the Knights and I am thinking of changing it but I also have my reasons for keeping it. The reasons I am keeping the Knights is the fact that it is a home game for them (huge plus), they are absolutely desperate for a win and should put in a good effort and lastly the Eels still have to come down after that amazing win against the Tigers. I have always struggled picking Parramatta and I know if I pick them they will let me down yet again. The Eels I think will still be patting themselves on the back from last weeks effort and therefore I am going for the upset. Knights by 2-4 pts.

The Roar’s NRL expert tips and predictions: Round 7

A few things to clear up for you Josh. Greenberg and the Rugby League community can say whatever the like even if its not true. The stadium is not an NRL ground nor is it an A-league ground. It is owned by the NSW government and run by venues live.

Even though the Wanderers are the major tenant the Eels are entitled to name their stands on game day how they see fit. It doesn’t mean that the Wanderers have to follow suit. After all it is not owned by the Eels. As per usual on game day the Wanderers will be replacing or covering up the names of the stands as they normally do on game day. This has been done every year we have played at the stadium. So lets not get all outraged over nothing.

The thing they haven't told you about Bankwest Stadium

The move to spotless was the correct decision. There was no way I was going to watch games at Penrith or Campbelltown. They are third rate stadiums that can’t even fully cater to our members. Not to mention that the stadiums are both to the extremes of the Western Suburbs while both Parramatta and the SOP/Spotless are more central to our supporters. It would be awesome if we had better options for our club and supporters but the simple fact is WE DONT. Quite incredible to think that Sydney has better facilities for AFL, a sport that no one plays in the Sydney region than for the rectangular sports of football and NRL. We will bounce back and everyone is excited to move back to Parramatta stadium. The sooner the better.

Can Parramatta return spur on Wanderers?

How does that gap get narrowed in the future. The answer is, it doesn’t. Especially if we have successive TV deals which will be distributed to those participating in the A-league. At some point if you want to have pro/rel which is what we should be aspiring to we have to bite the bullet sooner rather than later. It becomes more expensive as the A-league becomes more capitalized. We are missing an opportunity to do something great and the sooner we get started the better.

Who is paying for promotion and relegation in the A-League?

We are ready to sell our soul in order to try and get the women’s world cup. Even though the choices are stark the FFA could have consulted this decision with the stakeholders of football.

PFA slams FFA over AFC elections

I don’t agree with the premise of the article. Every single person in our society has certain freedoms and rights that for me at least are untenable. One of these is the presumption of innocence. That means Jack de Belin should be allowed to play unless he is found guilty before a court of law. To do so otherwise would be skirting on dangerous territory, not just for de Belin but for everyone.

If everyone feels that the NRL should view themselves as judge, jury and executioner then who else should we allow this power. Should we allow it for your place of work, how about your doctor or perhaps the police, see what I am getting at here.

Lastly there is already a process in place for what de Belin may or may not have done wrong and the police and the courts are going through that process. As difficult as it for the NRL and their image this should be secondary to going through the normal process of finding out if a man is guilty or not. The same process that saw Brett Stewart proven innocent when he was going through the same situation. So let’s just take a deep breath and allow de Belin to play and throw the book at him if and when he is found guilty.

De Belin and NRL set for Federal Court showdown yet the Dragons must make the call

Did you do any research. Did you ask any of the clubs. One of the poorest if not the worst article I have read on the roar about football. Its a mish mash of jumbled thoughts and inaccuracies.
We have 11 franchises in the A-league counting Western Melbourne United. The rest are real clubs started by groups of people with common interests and run by their members for their members with actual voting rights and a say in how things are run. I think if you want a better understanding you should go out and actually seek someone who has an idea on the topic, perhaps Ian Syson could help you out, you definitely need it.

Why Australian football must stop trying to conquer the past

Why would Bennett move when he is under contract. It makes no sense for him. He just has to hang tight, the Broncos can sack him and he gets a nice pay out and then he can sign with South’s. Did the Broncos think Wayne would just roll over and go back on his word. That’s not Wayne’s style.

Wayne Bennett says no to early Souths move

Nothing stopped the SFC fans from attending the derby at the SOP. You never showed up in any great numbers.

The Wanderers' dwindling fan base proves why they're Sydney's second team

Geez Mike,

Talk about a clickbait article. I think you are off the mark with some of your observations. The first thing I will say is that we do have a dwindling fan base. This is due to a number of factors. The biggest factor is due to moving to the Sydney Olympic precinct while our new stadium is being built. In that regard I think our numbers are holding up better than expected considering how awful the SOP is. We were always going to get a drop in numbers and it will be interesting to see how Sydney fare when they begin their nomadic existence without the SFS for a few years. We have not been winning lately and especially not against SFC. It’s just the reality we are facing and is another factor in our declining numbers. The prospect of going to the SCG to watch football has no appeal for me. It’s a crap venue for watching football. Have you seen the away support for Sydney FC when the have come to our ground. It’s absolutely laughable. The end.

Does he think he is Colin Kaepernick. Lol. He is a tool.

Mundine will not stand for 'white supremacist' national anthem

The harder you work, the luckier you get. Most of our woes in football are due to the FFA taking their eyes off the ball yet again. The congress has been the single most important issue in football and yet the FFA dragged this on for about 3 years. With this now solved we can get on with football, elect a new board, get our structures right, look at a 2nd division, expansion, P & R. There it’s lots of hard work to do. I am sure if those aims are achieved we might just get a little luckier.

Is the A-League due for a little luck?
