During my High School days in the 70s we had a noticeable amount of European migrants into SA .3 reasons usually given …Civil wars in Mozambique and Angola mostly ( Portuguese).. and of course elsewhere …Work opportunities ( mostly British) …trade unions , strikes an stuff and kids with lung conditions especially chronic asthma …Joburgs high altitude apparently helped….Wonder if that wasn’t part of Lohmanns initial motivation for emigrating ? …Although he ended up in Capetown …Who wouldn’t its an amazing city 😁

Yes for sure Muglair , cracks are definitely appearing in NZ management structures ..That ironclad cohesion of past looking fragile ..Cracks also appearing in NZs on field dominance …They seem to run together ..Coincidence ? Maybe ..Conspiracy theory ? Again maybe ..But just to reinforce , we have witnessed first hand here in SA the immediate impact of poor , conflicted , politicised admin here in the Republic and I believe you are going through similar experiences in Aus..Your players , your National team on paper look as good as anyone out there ..Yet they just don’t seem to pulling in the same direction ..Money of course ( In SAs and now seemingly in NZs case ) has of course the potential to compromise good people ..I’m not going to suggest a solution ..That’s for Australians to sort ….But getting trust back between management and the most important components of rugby/sport ie..Players and fans seems to be a good objective to start with..This is not just theorising ..I’ve been thru it .

Battleground full of losers leaves more instability for Australian rugby as RA plays a risky game

In the early 80s Graeme Gooch got banned from Test cricket for participating in a rebel series and subsequently played those years for Western Province in Capetown so we got to see plenty of him..I can say without hestation I agree with you ..He could bat ..and then some.

Hi All Day….Your inclusion of Shaun Pollock in the July team intrigues me ..Geez what cricketing genes ..Uncle Graeme Pollock one of histories finest batsmen and father Peter one of South Africa’s greatest pacemen . How could he go wrong ? ..Yet …One weakness …A glaring one IMO. He was such a laid back really genuine nice guy ..Not a mongrel hair in him 😁 …No aggression ..No passion and fire .Even when he pretended to be angry it was unconvincing . …He could have been a preacher rather than a front line pace bowler ( Matter of fact Dad Peter was a Preacher) ..Kid you not.. ..Never really converted his prodigious batting talent into dominating either ….Still a great player but just imagine a bit of the Mitch Johnson growl in him …Also while rambling I attended live a Test match SA vs England, St Georges Park , Port Elizabeth where this teenage kid who only had 3 first class matches under his belt was selected ..We had no idea who he was and decided the selectors had lost their marbles ..Called himself Dale Steyn …In about his second or third over , I forget , clean bowled Marcus Trescothick with an unplayable delivery ..The Steyn remover had arrived ….Surely in my books makes about any greatest ever selection ..But hey I am biased .

Cutting to the chase .It really does boil down to administration . And that’s not just in Aus of course ..Don’t we here in SA have experience of that ..NZ have had easily best admin past few decades and it shows on the field doesn’t it ..

Battleground full of losers leaves more instability for Australian rugby as RA plays a risky game

For a country that set the standards for all of us in the 80s and 90s ..Yes especially structures and coaching ..Maximising talent …We all looked on in envy at the Australian model. WTF went wrong .

Were NZ and Aussie teams to compete in Europe Harry they would do well. NZ sides in particular ..Superugby despite some understandable negativism needs stand back for no one..At least that’s my take…Club Rugby is so intensive these days , so wall to wall intensive , that managing a team in any comp now becomes paramount…..Its about peaking at the right times ..Something Leinster for example have failed to do in recent years ..Munster lost first 6 games on the trot last season but won the URC comp. …I am not just a fan of Jacques Nienaber but indeed a disciple…Leinster went off the boil in their last tour to South Africa ..But I believe that’s on purpose..( Nienaber ? ) ..Comes end of the domestic comps Leinster will be the best club team on earth..You heard it here first..

World club rugby power rankings: How Super Rugby's best teams compare with the northern giants

Really interesting insight from the man himself ..Seems at odds with Rennie regards the speed thingy. ..But surely he would have communicated this ..Who was the conditioning coach ? What role did he play here?….Lots of contradictions here ..’ Seems like a really nice guy ‘ …Yet here he is trashing his coach ..Clearly has discipline issues on the field at least …But mostly this inadvertantly highlights for me Wallabies single biggest issue and Joe Schmidt’s single biggest challenge …..Developing a team culture ..Turning a collection of individuals into a team where common goals override personal ambition ..Two teams on the planet do that better than anyone else . New Zealand and South Africa …It obviously matters in rugby.

'Tough to support him': How Suli must change his game to fight back from shocking brain snap

Loved this ..Last year in the URC Munster lost its first 6 or 7 games on the trot …Sneaked into the generously portioned ‘ finals’ eventually and ended up winning the darned thing. 😱

'Utterly toxic public relations disaster': The flaw you didn't realise exists in Super Rugby's finals system

For sure ..South African Lance Klusener surely also deserves a look….But hey I have to put my bit in ..

The true inventor of Bazball was born 150 years ago, and his records are still utterly bonkers

I said this a long time ago ..The Roar seemed stuck in a certain formula and it wasn’t getting support..Cheers

The true inventor of Bazball was born 150 years ago, and his records are still utterly bonkers

This article is sheer class and deserves a wider audience ..Where do you find this stuff ? I really enjoyed it ..Thought about others who fit this mould and there are a few but not with these stats ..And ..declining to tour for seasickness. 😂 Later years its political or money etc ..I am in awe boet ..Thanks for the entertainment ..I mean that .

‘Opinion of the ref’…’Probably’ …..Moment you introduce these kind of words into a Law it becomes subjective ….Anyways we can argue all day about the wording definitions but probably , reasonably we won’t come to an agreement ..I mean no so such thing as …He\she would have definitely scored ….we’ve all watched enough rugby to have seen a player drop the ball over a try line not a defender in sight ..We’ve all seen other players score in the deadball zone from seemingly impossible positions ..So I’m sticking to ..Reasonable chance of scoring .. 😁

The Wrap: A slap, three trips and a telling slip of the tongue - plus the case for an eight team finals series

Penalty try every day of the week.. There is never a 100% certainty a try will be scored ..Just has to be a reasonable chance ..

The Wrap: A slap, three trips and a telling slip of the tongue - plus the case for an eight team finals series

Guys just caught the highlights but saw Brumbies scoring off high kicks , cross kicks and capitalizing off opponents mistakes..Very Bok esque. Then a lucky break from the ref at the end ..Again Bok ethos.. 😁 Need to work on defence tho for sure.. But hey maybe I shud have watched the whole match … 😂

Brumbies end 15-year drought against Crusaders as 80th minute penalty try seals remarkable finish

Simple answer ..it would just encourage players to infringe more at scrum time especially if under pressure …

Scrums banned from free-kicks, 20-min red cards and shotclocks: World Rugby tries to speed up the game

Actually debatable between this game and Boks vs NZ at Ellispark.. Forget the year ..Many then called it the greatest ever ..But common denominator ..Yeah…The boring Boks 😛

Scrums banned from free-kicks, 20-min red cards and shotclocks: World Rugby tries to speed up the game

interesting observation by Jake White …He says free kicks are easier to defend against very often than attacking from a scrum..So assuming the intention of WR is to promote more space on the field this one may backfire ..Another take of his is that all is good with the changes generally and that conspiracy theories a joke.( although i do think WR financially wud much rather Boks didnt win the next WCup 😛 )but that coaches will find ways around them because that’s what they do.. 😁

Scrums banned from free-kicks, 20-min red cards and shotclocks: World Rugby tries to speed up the game

I’m a bit amused ..So scrums banned from free kicks ..I’ve watched a lot of rugby in my day…First time I can ever recall the receiver calling for a scrum..Just wondering if it was a French receiver doing it that match whether it would even be a discussion point let alone a Law change .. 😂

Scrums banned from free-kicks, 20-min red cards and shotclocks: World Rugby tries to speed up the game

Um ..SA teams in the URC arguably the most enterprising .

Australian rugby is so reluctant to develop a kicking game - and that's a big mistake

Crowds dont come to watch rugby ???? Real stats shows record numbers globally both attendances and TV audiences …Rugby has never ever in its 100 year plus history been so popular ..Losing teams fans are the ones most dissatisfied.Too much kicking , too much time wasting , too many scrums blah blah blah ..Kiwis the biggest whingers about changing the game when they lose ..Quite as church mice when they win..Oh so humble ..Start winning less whining please .

Australian rugby is so reluctant to develop a kicking game - and that's a big mistake

South African junior rugby is really strong… A good win for Australia..More importantly a win against those crying the end of Union in the country..Clearly that’s not the case.

'Everyone was dogs': Junior Wallabies roll up their sleeves to beat Springboks in TRC as rising fullback scores twice

Don’t have to..there is already a statue in Simonstown near Cape town commemorating ….Just Nuisance 😂

Why Schmidt isn't sweating about Wallabies star's cross-code temptation

South Africa will be vulnerable ..Bunch of new faces ..No Felix Jones or Jaques Nienaber in the coaches box ..Kolisi shifting out of favour for the captaincy …So likely a new captain too….Actually NZ for similar reasons a bit raw too…Could be such a great opportunity for Schmidt to make a big statement….Create a positive vibe ..
