Thanks Oliver. Lets go a bit deeper. What powers are being taken from the clubs or the unions and being ‘centralised’ at RA and what comment do we have from any officials at the SR clubs or state unions about said plans? With utmost respect, we need to be more critical if we at all care for this game. Its been very poor for a long time and the games is dying.

'We're absolutely committed': RA chief reveals plan to centralise control of Super Rugby clubs

Thanks for your reply Oliver. I do think we need to be more critical of RA and not just accept their PR especially with the game in real trouble in Oz. Do you agree with their proposal?

I hope someone ghost wrote the bio because Sunny can barely string a sentence together bro on TV.

Why I'll be buying Sonny Bill's book

Sorry Oliver but this article is bulldust. An AFL style commission is what we need.

'We're absolutely committed': RA chief reveals plan to centralise control of Super Rugby clubs

Hi Oliver, this article sounds like you have swallowed the press release whole? Are you advocating for this change. Problem is I doubt it will lead to any centralisation or financial savings. More likely is another layer of buraucracy with more money going into administration, the various State unions staying in place. RA were forced to make deep cuts during covid and now they can see some revenue coming back the want to rebuild the old jobs for the boys club. Do you agree?

Hope so. Its rediculous how much time Hooper gets

Coach’s Corner Issue 28: Can the Wallabies get even bigger?

What about Leota? I though his offensive ruck work was good and defence but needed to make more of a statement. Did seem to have systems to bring his running game

REACTION: Everything 'grumpy' Rennie said, including left field excuse for 'frustrating' win

Congrats to Rob Leota. Another player in a long line of quality rugby players to come out of Victoria. It goes to show the positive impact of the Rebels on Vic rugby

WALLABIES TEAM: Leota the No.6 bolter, McMahon overlooked, Hodge starts and JOC on bench

I never doubted the man. Bravo QC. Less is more with Quade. Peter Dutton give this man his citizenship.

The Wrap: Quade Cooper finds the sweet spot to bring the Wallabies home

Indeed. Although I was only 19 at the time of the 99 world cup, i cant recall this fixation on Australian being naturally a running rugby, ball in hand at all costs type of nation. I blame Super Rugby for making us think running rugby has always been part of our DNA …

Coach’s Corner Issue 25: Is defence really the best means of attack?

I remeber it well. It was a sunny day at Thomond Park, Limerick in 1999 when Juan Grobler of the USA Eagles streaked down the left wing to score the only try scored against the Wallabies in the entire 1999 World Cup. of course the Wallabies went on to win the cup in Cardiff in a tryless final. I didnt care too much about the lack of tries because we were winning. Defence is key.

Coach’s Corner Issue 25: Is defence really the best means of attack?

Agree that JOC is over rated at 10. It didnt work with Deans and it wont work now. He is too old. Get Gordon in their to compete agains Noah and see what they can do. Toomua also is past it and not the player he was.

Why the Wallabies are losing the power plays against New Zealand

Carter Gordon had a good breakout season with the Rebels with his game management and kicking. He would be ahead of Harrison in my book

Why the Wallabies are losing the power plays against New Zealand

Statistics only tell part of the story Markus. He seems to tackle well when standing at 10 but is a bit of a turnstyle in cover defence. Goal kicking is a surprise. I was probably a bit harsh. I stand by my comment that he is poor out of the hand. Has little game managment /awareness. Still deserves his shot but would love to see him compete for the spot with Carter Gordon

Why the Wallabies are losing the power plays against New Zealand

Love your articles Nicholas. I agree whole heartedly with your analysis. Noah is a bit of a quandary. Positives: can run at the line and has good footwork, is young. Negatives: average/poor tackler especially in cover defence, average/poor kicker from the tee and suseptible to pressure/confidence issues, non existent kicking game out of hand other than poorly judged cross kick. He deserves to be given time to develop. I just think we need another young 5-8 giving him some competition for the spot.

Westy, I think you are over estimating the ABs performance on Sunday. We played into their hands with our play. They have been playing that style since the Hanson era and we still have not learnt. ABs are like parasites feeding off WB who have lost all smarts that we ever had. ABs will be found out by the Boks or will be forced to actually play.

Wallabies need an urgent injection of composure ahead of Springboks and Pumas

I am not seeing anything new or innovative from Rennie. Dont get me wrong. I like the bloke with his folksy, salt of the earth rugby man, slightly strern kiwi persona but what is our game plan?

Wallabies need an urgent injection of composure ahead of Springboks and Pumas

All for the contest at the breakdown but the grabbing thing is a joke. You can still contest the ball without grabbing. Its so obvious to me the defender is just holding on to the player hoping for a penalty. I love the game but there is too much gamesmanship these days especially at the elite level which is ruining the game. Rassie was right!

Wallabies need an urgent injection of composure ahead of Springboks and Pumas

It would be easy to referee. Just dont allow a jackal to grab the player on the ground and award a penalty for not supporting own weight. There must be a rule not allowing holding onto a player on the ground in a ruck as well?

Wallabies need an urgent injection of composure ahead of Springboks and Pumas

My solution for the Wallabies is to put Hodge at 5-8 and have him kick the preverbial off the ball and only go through the phases when the Bok’s line defence isnt set. Its the only way ????

Wallabies need an urgent injection of composure ahead of Springboks and Pumas

Disagree. Just watch the Boks defend well push us back behind the ad line, wait for the mistake and then kick. We have no idea or game awareness.

Wallabies need an urgent injection of composure ahead of Springboks and Pumas

Ok. But never supporting own weight. Cody Taylor is a regular pest at this

Wallabies need an urgent injection of composure ahead of Springboks and Pumas

Nice article but the key issue for the wallabies is they are trying to play way too much rugby. ABs love this. They just defend well and wait for the mistake to come and then kick on the counter. We will never beat the top treams unless we learnt to play long periods without the ball like the Boks, Lions and ABs. We need a kicking 5-8

Wallabies need an urgent injection of composure ahead of Springboks and Pumas

Hi all, can someone explain to me why grabbing the tackled player around the torso on the ground is considered an effective jackal and penalty awarded? The defensive player usually does this to hold the ball onto the tackles player’s chest (or more often than not never has contact with the ball). Referees regularly award penalties. It is obvious to me the defender is in no real position to win the ball. So frustraring that refs allow this!
